There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

This is it. I think this is the Acid Episode. That's an acid calm intro if I've ever heard it.

Could very well be. This is only like the second or third episode ever made though.

9:38 missed a golden opportunity to call Saddam’s uncle a Grammar Nazi.

Sadam's life is basically Fallout. From everyone giving him guns, to inept sidekicks messing up his main quest missions. I'm pretty sure almost none of the most interesting elements are true other than him getting shot trying to yargeted massinate the president. I don't have him as the type to panick before something like that though.

I drove the Deputy US Ambassador to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil in 2004. I was an interpreter on his security detail for 6 months when I worked for a PMC owned by DynCorp, Intl. I have weird stories for days about all kinds of shenanigans in Iraq. I was an American with a TS/SCI clearance and fluent Arabic, I was literally a nobody working way above my pay grade. My hands shake when I think about how important my job was and how out of my element I was at 24 years old. Life is crazy.

Jamie Loftus might be the funniest BTB guest.

That anecdote about Saddam and the guards at the end makes me wonder how his life could have turned out with a better upbringing and less access to guns in childhood. Maybe he could have been that sweet old man sitting in a rocking chair on the porch chatting with random passersby.

I think the more horrifying reality at 1:00:00 is that it wasn’t an act. Under circumstances where he was not in complete control, he might really have been just some sweet old dude.
Way more horrifying of a reality to look at. None of us should have the power he did.

How do y'all know about your uncles' Mulder/Swamp-Thing crossover slashfic? Some significantly awkward Thanksgivings, there. And that from someone who had to sit there for a second cousin coming out as a furry to her parents and just awkwardly eat dry turkey and try not to laugh.

Ok I need to know now, did the editor was able to send their notes back? Imagine all that work just to find out that he was send to prison on another country.

Dudes who complain about women speaking/making jokes in media* tend to be the worst kind of dude.
(*with the exception of dudes who complain about Amy Schumer; lots of people complain about Amy Schumer, and they tend to have some valid complaints)
