I listened to this with my mother, who like you is -- or rather was, she's lost a lot of her voice now that she's in her 80s -- a trained mezzo-soprano opera singer. It brought tears to her eyes -- happy tears, I assure you. Thank you for that, because afterward it brightened her day.

When I played this for my father, he asked, "Who is that French woman? She is magnificent!" (which he said in French). Then he watched you perform and said you should be very great being so young and understanding the rôle so well. And he looked sort of far away and said, "I think she must be Franco-Russian. I once knew a woman..." which led to a wonderful story from when he was a young man (and had not met my mother). I would not have known his story without your singing, and now that he has passed onward seeing this recording again has brought me the greatest joy. You are a wonderful artist. Brava!

Back in grade school (1950s) our art teacher would play classical music as we drew. Carmen was one of those that we would listen to. Don't know if it effected others but I still have a place in my heart for that opera.
Your diction is clear and as someone said, your french, quite good, still has an accent which imho works very well with Carmen., after all, she's a gypsy. Last Carmen i've seen was a movie adaptation of Mérimée in flamenco style by Carlos Saura and Maria Pagés. You are really inspired and looks happy to play that part, i wish i could have seen it live. But, maybe you will pass by Paris and we'll see you at Chaillot, Garnier or Bastille ;)

Last year I went to the theater here in Lima, Peru, and watch Elina Garanca give a wonderful and breathtaking performance of a bunch of well-known arias and zarzuela songs. This was amazing! I've heard the song before and knew it was opera but, WOW! When I heard this it brought to life the essence of the song Id only heard as a prop for a cartoon or a comedy.
