Jean Lafitte built castle forts on Galveston and Grand Isle. His castle in Galveston was completely destroyed long ago but a wall of the Grand Isle castle still stood but I haven’t seen a picture of it since Ida hit

Gold wasnt the main trade supply found on the La Belle. Back then they traded blue, red, clear and black glass beads.

@@FingerStink420 how much them beads worth and how deep is that water? Would you need scuba gear or would regular ass snorkel and goggles work? I could hold my breath for a minute

Excellent job! La Salle! What were you thinking?

La Salle, after doing shorter trips by canoe with his men up the Brazos River, decided on a longer expedition to backtrack where he missed the Mississippi River. He had his best men with with and the reasoning for the wreck is because the 2nd in command and the inexperienced men left on board decided to make a last ditch effort to Fort St. Louis. When La salle came back with his men, he realized the ship wasnt there.
Others explorers from France had warned him that the Gulf currents go from west to east so he missed his calculations given to him by his engineer.

How about finding one of those mythological slave ships that supposedly brought over 14,000 slaves which miraculously turned into 40M today. Let’s talk about that.
