i lived with my abusive narcissistic mother up until i was about 12. i loved my dad more than anything, and he fought so hard to get custody of me. when the day finally came, this is the song that played on the radio on the way home from the courthouse. one of the most raw and happy moments of my dad and I’s lives. the pure unstoppable sobs of happiness and relief. the rain had gone.
I got out of the county jail after spending four months in the early 90s,upstate New York, I was clean and sober and in love, everything came together for me so beautifully. I had never experienced tears of joy, until this song happened to come on the radio on a beautiful spring day driving down the road…..Jesus is King! Call to Him he will answer.🙏🏼
Dear reader, I don't know you and you don't know me. Probably we are not even living in the same country. We look different. We speak different languages. Maybe we are from entirely different generations. We are just complete strangers. But there is something that connects us. We both have great taste in music Thank you for being here. God bless you, whoever you are....!
This was the first song I heard on the radio the day after my 18 year old sister passed away. She was one of his biggest fans. To me it was like a message from her telling me all her pain from cancer had gone. ❤️😭
My father passed away just 3 weeks ago on the eve of my birthday (Aug 14). We had gotten a chance to see him just 3 days before that, being that the home where he was being cared for had called and said we should come as soon as possible, because it looked like he was making his way to the other side. I and my brother and his wife got there the next day and sat with him and reassured him that we loved him and that it was alright for him to let go and not struggle anymore. He could not speak or open his eyes but he let us know he knew we were there and could hear us. As I was about to drive home from that visit, my brother asked me what would be the first song I played as I got on the road, and at the time I didn't know, but I told him I'd let him know once it came to me. Originally I was supposed to fly home from DC to Cleveland, but all flights out had been cancelled due to bad weather caused by a recent hurricane that was moving up the east coast, so I opted to extend my car rental and just drive back. Fortunately, the storm and I were moving in opposite directions, and as soon as I took off the sun came out and the skies cleared up and it was just the most beautiful summer day as I started the drive. All of a sudden this song just popped into my head, and as I came here and it started playing, I got the biggest smile on my face, and I felt like everything was going to be alright. I shared it with my brother and he told me that as they listened they were walking down by the golf course where dad used to always play, and there were many tears and smiles all at once. Cut to a few days later, after dad had passed on, my brother called me up and he asked what I was doing, and I told him I was sitting on the floor going through some of dad's papers and personal affects, and he told me he had been doing the exact same thing! What he told me next, I still have trouble wrapping my mind around... he said that among the papers he had come across some notes dad had written, and one was a list of his favorite songs - you will NEVER guess what song was number one on that list... 😭

At 23 my life was a mess. But this song came on radio & gave me hope. I had just dropped out of college to tend to my sick parents. My siblings wouldn’t do it because they were married & had children. I was still single. Never got help from them but when my parents died siblings told me everything I didn’t do 😢. I didn’t marry until I was 28 due to working 3 jobs & tending to parents who had zero income. Now I’ve been married to same wonderful man for almost 47 years. We have 3 very successful children. They are trying to assist us in our senior years. We are all conservative Christians. This song played following Trump win. I was praising God as it played. God never left me in my many years of need.
Lost my mum last year. And beat depression last week. For being in it for 27 years. I beat it! It never killed me. Like it did my friends and idols. And many others. It got so close to taking me. It is my favourite song ,and it brings back good memories And I want that song play at my Wake .
It was 1972. My first real high school boyfriend and I had just broken up, and I cried for weeks. Then one morning I woke up, feeling a bit better, and heard this song for the first time. I felt as though my higher power was sending me a message. Have loved this song since then. Thank you, Johnny, for getting me through a terrible teenage time. RIP.
This is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Johnny Nash passed without much fanfare, but I hope his family knows that this man touched so many lives and brought happiness and love to so many of us. May he rest in peace and love.
I was age 14 in 1972 when my Dad and Mom drove us down to Florida for Christmas 🎄 vacation from Michigan and this song was constantly playing on the radio. It's a very happy outlook song ----- ".... Look straight ahead, nothing but blue skiesssss........" You can ride "blue sky" lyric wave for a long time. I told my family that besides playing "Amazing Grace" that I would also like them to play this song at my funeral because it always brings such awesome memories of traveling to Florida with my family when I was just a young punk 14 year old teenage kid.
My grandpa was diagnosed with dementia around 4 years ago, recently he passed. He always used to sing lyrics from this song but I could never remember them properly until now. This one’s to you Gramps, love you man
In my top 10 favorite songs. 60 year old woman. Danced it with my Daddy, sang it with my uncle, listened with my momma. Lots of good stuff in this song.
This song reminds me of my childhood back in the 1970s. Especially going to my moms parents house. My grandfather has been gone a long time but my grandmother is still here at 98 years old. Didn't think I would be in my 50s and still have a grandparent at this point. Very blessed.
My mother, in her 80's, was starting to go blind from macular degeneration in the late early to mid 90s. She had this record playing all the time it seemed. So, to me at least it had a special meaning.
On the bright side your mom lived into her eighties. Some people don't get that much time to share with their parents. I'd say that's pretty lucky. Your mom has good taste in music she sounds pretty cool.
Wow! This song is PERFECT for Americans who cherish GOD & COUNTRY. Almighty God gave us a WeSet. Thank you LORD for a new beginning a New United States of America UNDER GOD. We've only just begun to LIVE again, in Jesus name. Happy Thanksgiving to all! And Johnny Nash, thanks for the song! USA... USA... USA!!!!!
Me too for y'all! 👍🏿 Reminds me, though, that I'm still mad at Wal-Mart's insensitivity for a tv ad the recently had. A happy ad. The song they thought fitting was Greg Street's "Good Day." That's a very sad song. They lack cultural intelligence.
My father had three wives and anytime he's troubled he played this song with a small tape he brought from the middle east to ghana.i grow I understand where he loved this song.may his soul rest in peace Lawrence Okai
Johnny Nash's 1972 hit "I Can See Clearly Now" radiates an uplifting message that transcends the simple joys of a sunny day. At its core, the song is a poignant expression of recovery after the end of a romantic relationship. Through its upbeat melody and smooth vocals, Nash delivers a message of hope deeply rooted in emotional liberation-acknowledging that, while painful, heartbreak is a temporary obstacle to a brighter future. It's a song that fills us with optimism and the belief that better days are ahead. The metaphor of "the rain is gone" symbolizes the emotional clouds that linger after a relationship's end, with the promise that, once they pass, the world is filled with clarity and new possibilities. As Nash sings of seeing "all obstacles in his way," it becomes clear that this song is about gaining perspective. By shedding the weight of past hurt and disappointment, he is not just looking forward but fully embracing that life can-and will-improve with time. The power of "I Can See Clearly Now" lies in vividly capturing the universal experience of moving on from a breakup. While letting go may be complex, Nash subtly reminds us that it leads to personal growth and an open path to new joys. The song's effervescent rhythm and affirming lyrics perfectly encapsulate the emotional high of reaching that long-awaited moment when the heartache fades, and hope begins to flourish. The timeless appeal of this song comes from its duality: it's both a personal testament to Nash's journey and a universal anthem for anyone seeking a light at the end of their emotional tunnel. "I Can See Clearly Now" offers a gentle yet powerful reminder that, in the aftermath of loss, there's always the prospect of a brighter tomorrow once we learn to let go of what was. It's a song that unites us in our shared experiences of heartache and hope. Just my two cents. - Lefty Stratocaster
Summer '73. It's early morning and the sun is just coming up over Lake Huron at our rented cottage. I'm 8 years old. This song is on the radio. Dad says "let's go fishing! The poles are already in the Yar Craft and the lake is like glass! My grandson is 2 years old. I will teach him how to fish.
For some reason, I can remember softly singing this song while lining up for lunch. The girl in front of me was saying, "Those aren't the right words." It was 1972 and we were in the 2nd grade, but whenever I hear this song, I'm back in that lunch line.
This song reminds me of childhood. Hear the first line and within a minute, I'm a kid again, riding in an open convertible, the summer wind slapping back my hair. Still luv this song after all these years.
I absolutely believe that the greatest gift a person can receive is that of hope... Especially after a prolonged period of overwhelming despair in which you start losing faith even in yourself, in your capacity to change and follow the Light to take you out of your own hell... May Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on all of us and grant is this greatest single most precious gift of HOPE ❤ Amen, amen, and amen!
This song is about the joy of triumphy, about light at the end of the tunnel, about hope in this moment and the future even in the midst of an impending gloom and doom. This song is about the pursuit of simple things that give one all the happiness that we often gloss over in our blind pursuits in life of wealth, love, and fame.
*Music is my Life* *I Can See Clearly Now by, Johnny Nash* I can see clearly now, the rain is gone I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day I think I can make it now, the pain is gone All of the bad feelings have disappeared Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies I can see clearly now, the rain is gone I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day >>>>>>>
This song makes me well up every time. Fills me with such joy and emotion. Makes me smile. I remember being a teenager looking out to sea at the ocean sparkling in the sunshine, and the sky was sooo blue. Anything and everything was possible, and looking forward to Saturday night, I felt elated with life.
Comparing this with the Bobby McFerrin song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" is like night and day. Whenever I hear "Don't Worry, Be Happy", I want to barf. One of the most dreadfully awful saccharine songs ever sung -- if you can call it singing. "I Can See Clearly Now" has simple lyrics, but the singing is wonderful and expresses joy beautifully.

Thank you and R.I.P Johnny Nash for this song. Actually I was out of my healing journey - a regretful former life, and here I am today starting a brand new journey. Every painful things lie in the past, it's gone. Only the lessons stay with me. And 'I can see very clearly now. It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun-shiny day' :D And this is the start point of my journey - Friday, September 2nd 2022 :D I googled for this song with "The songs about new beginnings' and this songs I can resonate. Thank you :D

It does not exist. It is a fairy tale, told at midnight to frighten you. There is no white guy in the sky. You are on your own and no one is in the sky with a plan for you. Sorry!
After therapy and a great deal of self reflection on a negative relationship that had me blind this song says it all for me. Any real music lover has to appreciate this beautiful and uplifting song.
The fact that this is a tune Bob Marley helped write just makes it so much more special to me. Bob would've peaked earlier if he and the wailers got credit😕 but i still love Nash and this song. May they legendary souls RIP🕊💕
my dog died a couple of months ago, she was blind for the last year of her life. in the hours after she passed i heard this song over and over again in different places.
Wow! I did not realize Mr Nash was the same young actor in the groundbreaking 1959 movie " Take A Giant Step." It was a one of a kind movie for Blacks during that time. Also included the great Beah Richard's and Ruby Dee.
Remember this song being played in played in the pinball halls in Australia in the early 1970s. Yea, thats when music simply went well with everything.
I was 9 years old when this song was released. The first time I heard it was on my very own AM transistor radio, my older step brother had given me before he was drafted and sent to Vietnam. Wow. Flashback.
He passed away about 20 years ago. The war "f'd" him up. He kinda just drifted around the country for the rest of his life. Hed settle down to get married & divorced (6 times) and keep wandering in off. He never came back to the family.

USA... USA... USA!!!!!

Got of prison and this song came on in the car…brilliant song ❤❤❤
A song for all time and forever!
Makes me proud that my people sang this song.🇺🇸✊🏾
This song is the anthem to my life! 😊👏✊
Me too for y'all! 👍🏿
Reminds me, though, that I'm still mad at Wal-Mart's insensitivity for a tv ad the recently had.
A happy ad. The song they thought fitting was Greg Street's "Good Day."
That's a very sad song.
They lack cultural intelligence.
This is my aunt’s anthem, she just had cataract surgery and she’s seeing so much better! ❤
Hi Rachel
I can see clearly now,
I've had my cataracts done,
It works...
😂😊😊
I’m so happy for you
I believe you, since I had a cataract operation myself last year, and can see much better now. Regards

Welcome to the best part of your life!
Quite simply magic music with great memories of a better time.
In bisaya tudlu an mangisda, sakto ba.
@@MaJosefaPalmitos Yes, teach fishing.
For some reason, I can remember softly singing this song while lining up for lunch. The girl in front of me was saying, "Those aren't the right words." It was 1972 and we were in the 2nd grade, but whenever I hear this song, I'm back in that lunch line.
This is my feel good morning song!!! It brightens my day. You will always be remembered JOHNNY NASH
For this song alone.
I play this for my kids for their wake up song!
This song reminds me of childhood. Hear the first line and within a minute, I'm a kid again, riding in an open convertible, the summer wind slapping back my hair. Still luv this song after all these years.
THIS SONG HELPED ME WITH SOME OF THE DOWN FALLS IN LIFE
💯❤
After healing from panic attacks I connected with this song~ it means so much to me
I believe this song was inspired by The Holly Spirit! It’s full of Giant HOPE! 😊
Which Sky Fairy cult?
I absolutely believe that the greatest gift a person can receive is that of hope... Especially after a prolonged period of overwhelming despair in which you start losing faith even in yourself, in your capacity to change and follow the Light to take you out of your own hell... May Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on all of us and grant is this greatest single most precious gift of HOPE ❤ Amen, amen, and amen!

I was just 13 year's old when that song came out in 73 now I'm 64 .a classic oldie of the past . They just don't have good music like that anymore
Your parents said exactly the same thing
In my teens when this came out.
When I was so depressed I almost couldn't stand it, this was the only song that could bring me up...😢
This song is about the joy of triumphy, about light at the end of the tunnel, about hope in this moment and the future even in the midst of an impending gloom and doom. This song is about the pursuit of simple things that give one all the happiness that we often gloss over in our blind pursuits in life of wealth, love, and fame.
Wow!
So we'll stated my exact sentiments.
*Music is my Life*
*I Can See Clearly Now by, Johnny Nash*
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)

This song makes me well up every time. Fills me with such joy and emotion. Makes me smile. I remember being a teenager looking out to sea at the ocean sparkling in the sunshine, and the sky was sooo blue. Anything and everything was possible, and looking forward to Saturday night, I felt elated with life.
This is song beyond Fabolous in everything music, lyrics, singer, I love it indeed
💯❤
Me Too ❤😢
This song emits so much positivity that it almost burns

Comparing this with the Bobby McFerrin song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" is like night and day. Whenever I hear "Don't Worry, Be Happy", I want to barf. One of the most dreadfully awful saccharine songs ever sung -- if you can call it singing. "I Can See Clearly Now" has simple lyrics, but the singing is wonderful and expresses joy beautifully.
I want this played at my funeral. Such a great song!
me too!

Actually I was out of my healing journey - a regretful former life, and here I am today starting a brand new journey. Every painful things lie in the past, it's gone. Only the lessons stay with me.
I love this song, and until now I thought this beautiful voice belonged to a woman! But it's the voice of a tenor. What a wonderful artist.

Wow. Flashback.
Therefore...I would call him, 'my bother'! xooxox
Is your older step brother okay?
