- While we have a few critiques about the lack of an outrigger, the unlined vents, and the lack of a nose-guard, which we love for sun protection, there isn’t much to criticize when it comes to the Smith Squad XL mountain bike goggles in terms of optical performance. They are some of the best performing goggles we’ve recently worn when it comes to field of view, clarity and definition. Smith’s ChromaPop technology is our favorite visual enhancement tech on the market and they’ve done a great job applying it to their XL goggle.

They work great with my Smith mainline. Good ole Smith.
As you did show how well they fit with the Smith Mainline helmet, I’m curious to know how the Smith helmet’s fit is with other goggles like Oakleys, 100%, Leatts, etc.

No sorry we do not.
How do they compare to the Oakleys, the Scotts and the Leatts that you tested in the goggle shootout?
They're actually really close in many ways. We did a full review on theloamwolf.com where you can get more info. We'd still pick Oakley as the best but love the picture and Chromapop. Wish they had some nose covering/protection though.
Hi do you happen to know the difference between these xl and the normal squads mtb? Specifically the feel it has on the nose, I had some of the fuel mtb goggles and they seemed to kinda restrict my breathing on the nose area and kinda press on my nostrils are the xls more comfortable in this area?
We think both the Squad models are more comfortable than the Fuels to be honest. Smith's website will certainly have some good info, but they are definitely better than the older Fuels.
I’m so torn between buying these, or not for snowboarding. I’ve seen quite a few “do NOT buy” due to fog.

No the mtb version you can see the lense and frame is vented

I had a pair of Smith sunglasses that had the most amazing lenses. Sharpened everything up in overcast conditions.
And then one day while traveling for work, I left them on a table in an airport lounge... like an idiot.

Probably lean towards these for quality of vision and lens tech.
