I remember when this came on t.v. on channel 7 in New York City in 1971 there wasn’t a kid to be found outside, everyone was home getting ready for The Going Back To Indiana Concert to come on. This was was a BIG EVENT when I was coming up I’m glad I got the opportunity to experience it with my Brother.
I wasn’t nowhere near alive when this gem came out but just hearing about how kids would all gather for something exciting about to be released takes me back to my childhood! I miss the days of epic releases!
I was crazy for J5 as well. I missed this and so glad to find it now. I've replayed the concert part several times. Did you notice the poor miserable white couple in the audience (44:50)? I just lost it laughing at that. If I were at a J5 concert I think the black folks around me would have been checking if I were okay (as a white girl losing it over their music.) 🤣
I saw this on TV, maybe once but I had this album as a child, and knew the whole album front to back even the skits. Still do lol Never will there be a more innocent time as back then
The Jackson 5 could’ve been The Jackson 6 if they would’ve let Janet in the group. She was just as talented. This show was a bit before my time, but I still enjoyed watching it.
My sister watched this actual special when it aired!!! My sister was a teenager and I was a pre-teen and our mother told us if we wanted to watch it we had to take our baths first so we would be ready for bed after we watched it, It was so hard to go to sleep after a show performance like that!!! That's all we could talk about the next dayd at school. Then for Christmas our parents bought us the soundtrack and I played it and sang along almost all Christmas Day!!! It was so exciting!!!
Just insane that little boy had that talent and gave the world his everything! Thank you Michael thank-you Jackson family 🥹 rest in peace Michael, Joe and tito 💔
@ end of the day we wouldn't have a Michael without Joe and it didn't feel right to leave him out as mj wouldn't have 🤷♀️ also I think the media were more to blame for his mental health tbh
Apparently Sting, a seasoned musician at 27/28years old, spent many extra hours rehearsing because of how difficult it is to play the bass and sing at the same time in the Police. Jermaine here is 17, dancing. singing and playing those complex basslines. These kids were worked HARD!!
@@RonaldWilliams-qh7zc Most people know by now that Berry didn't let them play on the recordings but it is also known that they did perform LIVE on every tour and for Jermaine to replicate those Jamerson bass lines live onstage while singing and dancing is nothing short of amazing!

I remember watching this special in St Louis 53 years ago when I was 6 when me & my late sister passed on in 2017, I watched over Ms. Sylvia's house on Clara St. watching it in Chriss bedroom on a Monday evening on channel 4, in St. Louis. Time brings on a change. Sorry for the passing of Tito Jackson. RIP.
