In 95 I was sick of everything, and jumped on my crappy junk pile chopper. I left Charlotte, N.C with a full tank, a sadle bag full of cloths, a couple hundred bucks, and camp gear. I rode to the Santa Monica Pier, and back. Took me about a year because I kept finding really cool people to hang out with, and odd jobs to do along the way. I really enjoyed that trip, and now I am nearing 50, and living in Norway now I keep thinking about doing it again over here one day. I don't have a bike right now, but after watching this channel I keep asking myself what the hell am I waiting for.
@@shadetreesurgeon It was, but now days I doubt I could do that trip again on a hardtail. I'm looking for something like your Road King, but they are crazy expensive over here dude.
The “red rooster”. All of these “adventure riders” spend all their lives discussing which bike, helmet , jacket etc. is best and you just jump on the bike and ride 1300 miles in 22 hours. When I asked a friend of mine who rode from Canada to South America how you get to do it said. “You ride to the end of the street, and then you keep going” Respect man 🙏👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
Have a buddy I hadn't seen in a minute that lives right around 750 miles away... Spring of 2019 I had just buried my father and brother and needed to get away.. My planning was non-existant ... i really wasn't thinking straight at the time... but I grabbed some clothes in a backpack, strapped them to the tail of my 2002 SV650S and left... 12 hours later I pulled into my buddy's after about 500 miles in the rain... but it felt awesome... We rode around up there over 1000 miles a couple days touring the areas... then n the 10 day I decided, with the same amount of planning, woke up and decided it was time to go back home... Made it almost all the way home, 100 miles left... and a deer jumped out over a guardrail taking me out... I wasn't hurt badly, my gear saved the day...the bike survived with fairings messed up, but not even a dent in the tank.. I picked it up and rode it home, and was sore for about a week , ankle and knee on the right was smashed up pretty good, that was what saved my tank from hitting the road... After all that... I would do it again tomorrow... Aside from the end, it was exactly what I needed... The bike is like new again, and my gear I was wearing was replaced... Still the best trip ever.... One I will NEVER forget
Josh, Josh, Josh, your a man after my own heart. Back in the 70’s my mates and I would go on long unprepared trips. Like riding from Melbourne to Adelaide ( approx 500 miles ) to buy a pizza or go from Melbourne to Muswellbrook ( approx 1,100 miles ) to visit a friend. Be basically had our riding clothes and a change of clothes and off we would go. We were Supermen right, nothing is going to happen to us ( it was usually me that would have trouble, but that’s a whole another story ). The adventures you have along the way stay with you forever and you can say to yourself “ I fucking did that”. Well done old son from Down Under.
Munray Greighton I did it through the 90s and still do. About to do 3000km in a few weeks. No reason. Just to see mates, and have an adventure with some of them.
Ha, I have done the same leg but for a Parma... a number of times. Leave friday night and get there spend some time in the park and get the parma Sat night and then head back home and start work in the morning.
You are the ONLY motorcycle TH-camr who still makes great content. Everyone else fell off and is boring now or changes too much. Never change your channel is perfect.
3 years ago I bought an '84 Yamaha venture royale for $500....because it was $500. I spruced it up over the winter and rode it from PA to Bar Harbor with the wife. We did 2,214 miles in six days on a sub $1000 motorcycle. We had a blast and everyone thought we were crazy. The wife trusted me and I trusted my work. Had no issues until 100 miles from home, I hit a crater of a pothole at 80mph on I-86 in NY and blew the rear shock. Made it home safe and we plan on another trip going west.
2020 has just been completely odd. A pandemic takes over the planet, the economy begins to tank, society is turning against itself and now Shadetree is making inspiring videos. To quote Sheriff Buford T. Justice, “What in the hell is the world coming to?” Seriously though, great job. Thank you so much for sharing. 👍
You have reached a level of understanding and peace that most people don't reach or ever understand. You're a simple man that lives without fear because you know there's nothing to fear but fear itself. Thank you for the end speech, I salute you.
Hey. Anyone on a 36 year-old ocean liner of a bike is cool. Oh yeah - I have one 😁😁 (It's actually very exciting to start a ride with no clue whether you'll actually make it or come home on a truck.) Oh yeah, and if the shit hits the fan you're gonna need a football field to bring all that mass to a stop with them ancient brakes.)
Pfft you think the brakes are bad normally, I had a gl1200 with a rotor damaged so badly that the pad hitting the messed up part spiked the pressure in the line enough to hammer the master cylinder apart from the inside. it was the front rotor on the side that was linked to the rear brake pedal, so that left me one out of 3 usable brakes. I rode it like that for a year before I finally fixed it. Good times.
Try out a cruiser man i started on a zzr600 and now i ride a hd dyna. Hearing the v twin and just experiencing it in general almost beats rippin on a rocket to 12000 rpm. Stay safe bud
Everything about this video is so spot on, thanks shadetree. My pops and I did a 4700 mile trip on his 1986 heritage classic and my 2016 650 twin ninja completely unprepared for "touring" as we rocked backpacks for luggage and every time we get together we reminisce about how it was the most amazing trip ever
You can’t put a price on memories like that. But dude! On a Ninja!? How the heck are you still able to walk!? 😳 🤣 If I did that I would have transformed into the hunchback of Notre Dame 😝
I'm going to hell, you said a man having a ball and for some reason I immediately thought of Lance Armstrong. Even though he rides bikes and not motos.
Shadetree, I have got to say you and Cheyleesi have rocked to the top of my favorite motorcycle TH-camr's. I just love you humor, your passion to keep old crap going, you brilliantly hilarious bike names, and your real world approach to it all. I also genuinely appreciate how you guys have embraced the forgotten angels cause and use you powers for good. Well done Bro! More of the good, less of the bad, and let the good times roll!
I believe this was one of the first motorcycle videos I watched during Covid. I had never owned a motorcycle, but I was inspired. I have a kidney transplant and congestive heart failure, so I was pretty much locked down for that year. This motorcycle thing seemed like just what I needed. The vaccine became available in February of 2021. I fully retired, and purchased a Yamaha V Star 250 for $2200.00 that same month. I rode that little motorcycle across the country twice. After that first year, and almost 20,000 miles, I sold the 250 and bought a Honda Shadow 600 for $2500.00. I’ve now been to Mexico and Alaska on the Shadow. I’m now somewhere north of 40,000 miles in less than 3 years. All of my trips have been under planned, with bags just strapped on the bike with bungee cords. This 67 year old is hooked… curse you Josh ❤ :)
Hell yea man! My biggest adventure was 2562 miles in 62 hours, minutes after a 3 hole fluid change in my last bike and (hindsight being 20/20) I didn't even check tire preasure before leaving! Gotta keep it sketchy to keep it fun! Congrats on the "SUCCESS" !
Absolutely, without doubt THE BEST and MOST ENTERTAINING motorcycle video on TH-cam! Grinned all the way through it. I also appreciate the lack of swearing. Great job!
As a West Virginia resident, I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. There's a lot of twisty roads and beautiful scenery that makes for a great riding experience
Thank you !! i made a trip like that when i was a kid, my parents got me a ford fairmont for a graduation gift and i traded it for a 77 shovelhead and rode it from South Dakota to New England, then from there to California where i reported to Boot Camp in the Navy. you trip brought back memories watching your trip !!
I turned 60 in January and I’m more aware than ever that there is more behind me than ahead. I wish I could explain to you how much your video means to me as I watch on a Tuesday morning as I get ready for work. Your adventurous spirit and joy are contagious. I’m reminded that I can observe others or I can be the one being observed. Thank you. I needed a wake up call.
Digging the generic 80's music to go with the 80's Honda. Now I wanna do a trip. I don't think I'd go straight through like you did, but my 46 year old Honda CB750 is itching for a road trip. Hopefully it holds up as well as your Goldwing did.
Surgeon, I love your videos! This one reminds me of when I was 20. I had a little Kawasaki LTD 440 twin with a belt drive. I tied a duffle bag to my passengers back rest one day and took off from Pittsburgh and didn't stop until I reached the southern most point in the Florida keys. An adventure I'll never forget!
Currently watching this in my cubicle at my corporate accounting job. So hard not to just go downstairs and jump on my motorcycle and head for the horizon. Awesome vid
Craziest ride I’ve ever took was about 20 years ago when I found out my ex- girfriend didn’t go to a wedding in Fayetteville , NC , (I was in NJ then) but instead went to see an old boyfriend I couldn’t stand the sight of. Long story short.....jumped on my only ride, a 1980 Suzuki GS550 and rode the 800 miles at night to kick his ass and dump her! I also stayed there for lunch afterwards and then drove the 800 miles back. No sleep the whole trip! That was as un-planned as it gets! But what a ride! Oh yeah, I forgot to bring a face shield, glasses and gloves! What an idiot I was! Lots of bugs in the helmet that night! Those things you never forget
Never whooped a girlfriends ex or run 100's of miles to break up, but I have done the 'hornet in my helmet - don't step off this bike at 50 mph' fight for my life a time or 4...
The best trips are the ones you just pack and go. I did Sturgis this on 3 days notice. Spent 14 days on the road, rode 4200 miles, and have epic memories. Good for you man. You'll look back on this all your life.
Man, This video really touched home for me, being from the uk, from a working class family, last year me and my better half decided to bite the bullet of our life long dream and travel across the world to see Niagra falls, so you combining two of the things I love most in the world, whilst being a rad dude, this video got me feeling things a TH-cam video never has. You sir have well and truly earned my subscription. Ride safe brother 👊🏻
I can see why huge tourers like Wings and HD are so popular in the States for long distance work. Permanent 2 - 3 lane tarmac for mile munching. Regardless of how wonderful the scenery is, it would drive me insane. Crazy. Potty. Intense boredom. Give me single lane (each direction) country roads (with corners) any day of a tour, even if we are only travelling a 1/3rd or 1/2 the distance that freeways can provide. YMMV. Good vlog, best of luck. Edit, Niagra Falls looks stunning.
Hell yeah man! This video had me smiling from ear to ear the whole time! It’s been my dream to do something like this since I got my first bike! Right after the video ended I check Facebook market place for some crappy gold wings 😂😂. I’m about to make some bad decisions! Nonetheless, another great video man!
I love how you giggle like a school girl throughout the whole video. Your giddiness is infectious. This is probably one of my fav vids. Keep up the great work!
Doing a solo motorcycle tour like this is on my bucket list and has been for years. It will happen one day. But I really want to be on the right bike for me, even if it’s a 30 year old Gold Wing, more likely a BMW R1200RT, but who knows? Got to make it happen before I turn 40.
First cross country trip was from Ohio to New Mexico. Was supposed to be to the West coast but didn’t make it. Second day I made it to Maggie’s dinner from the movie wild hogs around 11 pm. Thought it would have a hotel being a tourist trap but it didn’t lol. I was exhausted so I slept on the side of the road by my bike. I had a tent but never put it up before so I ended up sleeping on top of it cuz I couldn’t figure out how to put it up lol. I got me a goldwing now. First 2 attempts were on sport bikes lol. Second attempt I made it to monument valley.
Love this. So! Recently flew out from Michigan with some camping gear to South Dakota where I bought a Victory Vegas. I went west and freestyled. I met so many cool people at local bars, I met Buffalo! I saw Mt Rushmore, I made it to Wyoming, Montana, Both Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin etc. I made many friends around Sturgis, I have a group to hangout with now!!! It was epic. Did 3,000 miles in 7 days. I never paid to stay over night, I setup my hammock in rest stops, people’s backyards, abandoned buildings, national forest, or! I slept on a few couches of strangers I met. You are absolutely right. I didn’t have any plan, and it worked out better than I could imagine!!! Plus! With free camping, my biggest expense was just beer and gas!!!!
"Every true story ends in death." - Ernest Hemingway " If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love." - Bodhi, Point Break
Nihilist quotes of the day. Hemingway was one of my dads heroes. He shared a smoke with him on the deck of a Navy troop carrier the night before D-day.
Love the tunnel at 10:00. In 2004 or 5, I road through into that very tunnel on my 1999 Honda Magna but didn't come out on it! A bad stator the culprit, I ran out of power halfway through. It was dark, my bike and I were coloured in black, and I had no lights, and I had to squeeze to the side when a flatbed carrying a gouse came through! I had to push the Magna out with my friend, who came back for me when I didn't emerge. The rest of my crew was waiting on the other side and they called to the town ahead for a new battery, fetched it, and brought it back to me. I made it safely home to Toronto and promptly bought a new R/R, and the problem never arose again. Remember, adventure is rarely fun while it's happening, but it sure makes for a good tale to tell! Love the vids Shadetree...
Check out the books he's written on his motorcycle adventures. 'Ghost Rider' is outstanding in how he decided one day to take off riding with no particular destination to keep his sanity after his daughter and wife died. The adventure helped him heal and put the broken pieces back together in his life. He wasn't just a great drummer, he was definitely a motorcyclist in the truest sense of the word.
Great video! There is a saying, “Give a man a fish and he will have a good lunch. Give a man a motorcycle and he will have lunch in another state”. Well done Brother 👊🏼
I know I'm late to the party BUT I love long motorcycle trips and have to comment on this. I taught my son to ride a year ago. He got his license just last fall. This May I said "let's go away over Memorial Day weekend." Other than packing warm clothes and A bit of rain gear because we were expecting torrential rain on the way home. It ended up 40's and 50's all weekend. We rode through 30 minutes of downpour and 40 degrees. Over 500 miles over 3 days. And my sons first trip. I feel honored to have share if with him. It was awesome. I look forward to many, many more.
Worth the wait! Seems like you needed this! That airhawk seat saved my ass literally on our last trip. Your right sometimes you just need to get up and go!
One day I went in a +5 hour drive on my car and felt great haha, I live in the desert and went to the beach, man those days where awesome, atm Im struggling with a back injury which makes me avoid my motorcycles, but I think next week Ill be back on the saddle and who knows, maybe Ill go to the beach again now riding my motorcycle. thanks for the content Shadetree, Im not the first to comment on your videos or anything but, be sure a fellow Mexican biker is watching all your content and enjoying it, keep it weird my friend.
At 54 years old, I’m in synch with everything you’re saying here. Thank you for laying down some wisdom. I’ve wanted to ride a motorcycle all my life, I’ve even bought a brand new Ducati Monster 900s electronic injection, red, and sold it just a few weeks ago without ever having rode it, what a shame. Now I’ve discovered your channel and the bug has bitten me again. I think I’d go for a Gold Wing as well this time around, but now I have health problems : vein failure in my lower legs and feet, which means I have to wear compression socks or else they’ll get swollen and hurt. I wonder if one or more of your listeners have the same problems, I’d be happy to hear what you have to say. Anyway, thanks Josh. Pierre, from Montreal.
Bilbo Bagins had it right when leaving Bag End on his adventures. "The road goes ever on and on, Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can. Pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet, and wither then? I cannot say."
I've been going through alot, and will most likely have to my some changes for my own happiness. Been getting the urge to ride alot more. But being that my bike is a dual sport, I'm not doing any traveling on it. But you have inspired me to really work towards getting that Street Triple I've been wanting for 2 years and be able to make small trips. Be able to ride from my house to my parents house in the next state over. Really be able to get out and just enjoy the freedom of being on 2 wheels. It might not mean much, but thank you!
Awesome stuff Shadetree! That last bit about over planning and just taking the dive instead REALLY hit home. I 100% have been guilty of that and it's such a reality for a lot of people. Gonna take your advice and go take the plunge. Thanks for being awesome and speaking your mind brother, I really needed to hear it! Keep up the great content, your channel is top notch man. Always keeps me coming back for more!
I was really glad to see this video, Brother, as Jen and I just got home from a nearly 1000 mile trip down to Key West. I came away with very similar thoughts to what you've posted here. If you love two wheels and the wind, get your ass in that saddle and RIDE! No matter where you're from, get out and see that great land of yours! It will enrichen you, it will recharge you, and it will give you memories that you will reflect on and cherish for the rest of your life! All of the problems and the day to day grind had worn me down, and I came back feeling like a new man, because I spent a few DAYS and hundreds and hundreds of miles doing what I loved most, and that's riding that motorcycle and sharing that experience with other bikers! Trust me, folks, your Uncle Shadetree is preaching the bonafide gospel on this one!
Hi when I was19 I has a honda 550 four and rode to phoenix, az passing thru Colorado, and seeing the Rockies on the horizon was something I had to stop and just take in the awesome view!!!
Don't get me wrong, we have a lot to choose from in Phoenix. In n Out, Whataburger, Habit Burger, and a lot of locals that would make your tastebuds wanna hug you. But a Sourdough Jack has no competitors for that type of sammidge, IMHO. But chicken? Hopdoddy Thunderbird all day and twice on Sunday. Yum!
Wow, im shocked . I’m a new Goldwing owner and all I hear from the old school guys is how comfortable the seat on those bikes were . Also, new subscriber and loving the content so far 🚴♀️
Dude, I love this! You're totally right about watching too many trip videos and not going on any yourself. Next weekend I'm rolling out of work on Friday afternoon and I'm gonna leave my sector!
I've always kinda looked at it this way: Never seen a motorcycle broke down on the side of the road with a human skeleton laying next to it. If you like mountains do the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive it's awesome. I am old now so I like to keep it at about 400 miles a day now and avoid the interstate. But if you gotta do miles asap interstate is a necessary evil. I've done a few 1000 mile days including Philly to Daytona bike week in March. It's all good.
Hey Shadetree. Have to say thank you on behalf of all West Virginians on what you said about my state. I've been riding for over 10 years and have to say our back roads can be a little dicey but they're unlike any you've seen. The views are stellar. Thanks again for the compliments!!!
Don't know where to start and I'm not that elegant with words so here it goes. I'm 67 still riding and have been off and on since 15 years old. I'm on Harley #9 an 09 Super Glide but have owned Hondas, BMWs, Triumphs(the old ones lol.) Yamaha V-Max and some I can't even remember. I share the love that you gave for ALL things motorcycles and really enjoy your videos a lot. Your enthusiasm while riding up through Va. and W.Va really brought back some very early memories of my young Trucking career. I know pretty much how you felt rolling through there for the first time. I did it over 45 years ago in a semi-truck and twenty years ago on a Electra Glide coming from my home in Panama City to Winter Haven (to meet up with my friend) then to Michigan. Motorcycles are far more fun than semi-trucks for sure. My same friend and I just last year went from Winter Haven Fl to the Tail of the Dragon, best trip ever. Keep rocking out your "weird" videos because I love where you coming from in content. CHEERS BROTHER 🍺🍺
I did that once with my wife on my 84 wing. We rode to Spa Francorchamps, the famous F1 circuit, where they also have www.spa-francorchamps.be/nl/agenda/2019-07-05/bikers-classics. It rained so hard down hill on a one way two lane, a semi truck got behind us and put all his warning lights on so everyone would go past us safely. This was four years ago or something. Edit: How freaking easy is that thing to drive? Feels like an air bubble to ride. Edit2: You have a short people seat. Edit3: Did you set the suspension to correct pressures according to manual? If it feels weird take another look at the pressure and adjust. They are also very sensitive to tyre wobble at lower speeds.
I live in Buffalo, and you were riding on roads I've ridden on just hours before writing this comment on my commute. Felt pretty trippy watching a channel that I've been subscribed to for years riding on such familiar roads. I'm glad Buffalo was a worthy destination for your trip!
Wow! Just got back Monday night in Connecticut from Vidalia Louisiana on my 81 gold wing. Rode the Blue ridge parkway south through Virginia and North Carolina up in the mountains. The best riding I’ve ever done!!! Left Cherokee,North Carolina and rode down to Andersonville Georgia to see the civil war memorial there. From there it was west across Alabama and Mississippi to Natchez to pick up the Natchez Trace parkway north. Rode the length of that to East Nashville Tennessee. Home from there. I thought it was just me. I’ve had my bike like 5 years so I’ve got everything straight on it. Not fancy. Ur gold wing is probably nicer. Anyway, nice job! Ironic that I watch your video about the exact subject and road trip I just did. When in doubt, ride out. Jim
Just did a 6,000 mile trip on my 99 sportster. Just up and left with no plans. There's nothing like just taking off and seeing where the wind takes you. No plans other than seeing the grand canyon and Montana. We left on a Saturday morning from north carolina and was in New mexico in three days. Best time of my life.
Road to Reno from a Illinois. No plan, just a road king and a prayer. Many hardships on the trip. I actually slept in the bushes waiting for a gas station to open. I’ll never forget it. It was magical. Great job Shade tree, you’re a cowboy....🇺🇸
I've watched a good deal of your videos, and the MOST interesting and exciting part about your trip videos is most DEFINETLY the fact that you just decide fuck it let's go on an adventure. Minimal to no prep before you leave for a trip just SUCKS me into the video. It's inspiring and honestly it's just raw adventuring and It's some of the best content on this platform hands down. Every singe time I watch one of these I want to get right on my bike and just GO. I don't give a fuck when and where. Cheers man.
Me and a friend met up one day and just decided to go camping for a week on the bikes and we left the next day. 20 miles in we crashed, lost my a few numbers on my license plate and wrote them back on with a marker pen and my friend broke down. Got his bike running the next morning and it was great the rest of the week.
Josh you truly captured the true spirit of riding thank you sharing your trip you rock it brought a huge smile love to see more trips like this regards Anthony from down under ps you rock you raised my spirits
Nothing like a goldwing for crushing the highway. Oh and by the way, DO NOT SPEED in Virginia, Or DC. They can and will throw you in jail. One time I just hopped on my bike and rode away. Ended up in Denver Colorado.
LOL, He was in SWVA. You gotta be FLYING there to get pulled. Or just stand out for some reson. I ride those roads all the time. NOVA is a whole nother animal. It's a trashcan up there...
Shovel84 Too true, once you climb that mountain from NC into VA on I-77 it’s crawling with cops. Just did a trip last week and saw 6 cops between NC and I-81. I’m told it’s a really poor county and that’s how they make their revenue. Didn’t see a single cop going up I-81 towards Pennsylvania through the rest of Virginia.
Hell yea man. My wife feels the same way. She wants to ride long distances. But she has Cerebral Palsy and cant ride for long times. But this weekend she is going to push her limits. It’s all because of the love of riding. No matter what is stopping you if you love it you’ll find the strength and a way

Man, I wish I could give this comment more than one like. You, sir, win all the internets this day
I'll drink to that 🍺👍
I could totally see Teddy Roosevelt riding a Goldwing.
Damn Skippy.
Cheers
well dang, I was just about to say the same thing!

Too bad there wasn't a line of bikers behind him...
"Florida man rides 40 year old Goldwing 1200 miles for Chicken Wings"
and to look at water.
Makes perfect sense to me ....
“Florida man rides 40 year old Goldwing 1200 miles for Chicken Wings for his pet alligator while blaring Lynyrd Skynyrd”
SHOCK HORROR !!!!
People mock "Florida man"..
It is because they wish they were Florida man.
You want proof?

Just do it...otherwise you will regret it one day.
Just do it bro
The “red rooster”.
All of these “adventure riders” spend all their lives discussing which bike, helmet , jacket etc. is best and you just jump on the bike and ride 1300 miles in 22 hours.
When I asked a friend of mine who rode from Canada to South America how you get to do it said. “You ride to the end of the street, and then you keep going”
Respect man 🙏👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
100% right.
+1
That’s inspiring my friend

Awe man I miss it there!! Good times in Adelaide and Melbourne
Probably the best “Riding” video ever. If there were academy awards for this you won! Bravo.

As a young dude who rides sportbikes, youre probably the coolest person on a goldwing there ever has been lol
Hey. Anyone on a 36 year-old ocean liner of a bike is cool.
Oh yeah - I have one 😁😁
(It's actually very exciting to start a ride with no clue whether you'll actually make it or come home on a truck.)
Oh yeah, and if the shit hits the fan you're gonna need a football field to bring all that mass to a stop with them ancient brakes.)
Good times.
@@thinredpaste bloody hell! But you make my point see? Obviously even Guardian Angels think anyone on a 1200 wing is cool as & to be protected.😁
Agreed!! Hey! I’m a sport bike guy but recently got my first cruiser. A Victory Vegas, if you ever get a cruiser. Check em out. I fucking love it
Try out a cruiser man i started on a zzr600 and now i ride a hd dyna.
Dang man. 650 ninja !!!!
You can’t put a price on memories like that. But dude! On a Ninja!?
How the heck are you still able to walk!? 😳 🤣
If I did that I would have transformed into the hunchback of Notre Dame 😝
7:15 The smile of a man ACTUALLY doing it, and having a ball.
Pure living.
I've done it and it does put a smile on your face. You should do it too.
I'm going to hell, you said a man having a ball and for some reason I immediately thought of Lance Armstrong. Even though he rides bikes and not motos.
I don't get it. What's wrong with careful deliberation, planning, preparation? You'll have a much better time, a much bigger smile on your face.

I've been waiting for this video since he first mentioned the idea of buying the gold wing

XPresident so......did you beat his ass?
That's a long time to be pissed

I can see why huge tourers like Wings and HD are so popular in the States for long distance work. Permanent 2 - 3 lane tarmac for mile munching.
Regardless of how wonderful the scenery is, it would drive me insane.
Crazy.
Potty.
Intense boredom.
Give me single lane (each direction) country roads (with corners) any day of a tour, even if we are only travelling a 1/3rd or 1/2 the distance that freeways can provide.
YMMV.
Good vlog, best of luck.
Edit,
Niagra Falls looks stunning.
You can cross the entire US using all backroads. The interstates and highways are only cause riders chose to ride them, but not all of us do. :)
No bad decisions!!! We are blessed to be in a country where we can make such decisions. By the way, welcome to NY!!

The great Neil Peart used to refer to the highway as the MDU "Mileage Disposal Unit"... Inspiring vid man. Keep up the great work!

YESSS THIS IS AWESOME. RIDE ON HOMIE!

Jim
