    I have a DrZzs booster in a cheap extension cord protector for Christmas I got at Homedepot. Works great.

    You may have bought the booster from DrZzs, but it is made by the same person that make the DIG-UNO (as well other products). Quindor makes the products. Also Quindor's unit has a switch to select the resistor to match impedance.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you’re right. I failed to mention that Quindor makes that booster.

    Great video! If the F-Amp had power injection built in, it would be a no brainer, but I already have a small pile of Dr. Zz's/Quindor power boosters. I am curious to see how much further you can go before they start to fizzle out on each booster.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Far. I never heard anyone needing a second booster.

    Is the rgb amplifier they sell on Amazon the same thing as these ? Will it do the same job ? Asking cause both of these are out of stock and I’m stuck in the middle of a install lol ! Great video btw !

    Oh, this is good to know! I was wondering how I was going to tackle increasing the digital signal over gaps. WOW, 40 feet is a BIG gap. Greater than I will run into. Sounds like both are good choices, but the Falcon may edge out Dr. Zzzs for outdoor use. That having been said, he is a good guy so I will probably get one from him and get an enclosure like you suggested. Thanks for another informative video!!!

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dr. Zzs is da man! But the F-Amp is a better design for outdoor use, unless you need power injection.

    Awesome video! I am ready to pull the plug on the F-amp to run an extension (about 36ft) on a newly purchased Govee Permanent Light Pro set, but I had a question. These lights are powered by a 36v 3 amp power supply and I noticed the F-amp handles 5v and 12v applications. Do you think I could still use it for these Govee lights? The DrZZZs handles up to 48v but I love the convenience of the F-amp

    • @handydadtv

      36V will fry the F-amp. I had the same issue in this video: th-cam.com/video/4S5zFCDrHAI/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the video, very helpful! Do you know if it matters where along the blank extension I put one of these? I'm hoping to install one at the end of a 20' extension since my lights are already installed and that will be the easiest place to reach on my roof.

    Just checked Dr. Zzs site. He is out of stock. I checked the Falcon site, just to see if they had any. They did, but shipping was $11.50. That seemed a bit high to me. I don't know what Dr. Zzs is charging for shipping. Hopefully he will get some in stock soon.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dr. Zzs charges $6 shipping regardless of how many you buy.
      $11.50 shipping for a $20 product is steep, I agree.
      Ironically, you’d probably feel better if the product was $31.50 with free shipping. Human nature.

    what would be a scenario where you would need to inject power? how can you tell the difference from signal loss and needing a power boost?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Flickering and dead lights indicate a signal issue.
      You need to inject power when the color at one end is different than the other end. For example, turn them all solid white and the far end of the string starts fading towards red. I recommend 12-volt strings outside because you can go further without injecting power than with 5-volt strings.

    I have a 350 foot roof perimeter, Can I use these falcon boosters in between and connect my pixels wires with one controller ?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are limits to the number of pixels you can have per channel (see quinled.info/2021/03/23/max-amount-of-addressable-leds/), but you can insert the F-amps in multiple places along the way wherever you have signal loss. You’ll need to handle power injection separately, of course.
