All the five elements of our fingers represent what our body is made of. The mudras are very powerful and very effective. I had a growth near my thyroid gland and the doctor said it was goitre, it was borderline. No medicine was given. It would go away in 6 month's time. But it did not and started growing slightly bigger. I started getting a bit worried. Something strong came to me to do the mudra, to put the earth element at the base of the fire element and place the thumb over it. I started doing a few minutes once a day when taking my pet dogs for their early morning walk. In no time the lump disappeared and suddenly I noticed it was gone. My friends would told me to go for an operation which I was unwilling to do. I found the mudras so very useful that I recommend to people that I meet to do it. It really helps. I have a book that i refer to everytime i need it.
