All the errors have been rectified in the new 2018 duke 390. None of these problems mentioned by MSK I've faced. I have completed my 2000km ride yesterday and my experience was no less than extraordinary. Quality of this bike is Top Notch. I was doing 140+ for 100kms straight and it was stable. It does get unstable at 130+ when there is heavy windblast. Fuel consumption depends heavily on your speed like my fuel economy was- 32-35kmpl @ 70-85kmph 28-30kmpl @ 90-100kmph 25-26kmpl @ 100-110kmph 22-25kmpl @ 110-125kmph 18-20kmpl @ 130-150kmph It is undoubtedly the best bike in its price range and segment. P.s. The only thing I didn't like much is the Seat. It gets uncomfortable after 200kms or so.

The bike really does complain if you ride it slow. 3) sometimes the bike does konk out and the display says that it's an ECU failure but all you have to do is turn off the ignition and turn it back on and then you're good to go. However, there are a few things that I do not agree on. The first thing that I'd like to point out is the loosening of the bolts. This bike is not designed for off roading from the get-go. The bolts and nuts are not really designed to handle the stresses & vibrations induced from off-roading. I'm not going to tell you how to ride your bike but I would refrain myself from taking this bike off road if I were you. An open letter to all bikers in India. Please read fully before commenting. Never buy a KTM in India. It's with utmost disappointment I'm writing this. KTM is undoubtedly one of the best European motorcycle brands and Duke 390 is truly a piece of art. But their service provided in India courtesy of Bajaj is among the worst out there. Buying a bike is only half the story, ease of maintenance is a major factor in its ownership. Throughout my 9 month experience of owning a KTM Duke 390, I experienced how badly KTM service centers can screw things mainly because they don't even know how to work on it. I have seen horrible things in KTM service centers, how unprofessionally they work. To give a taste of it, I have seen a service center in Bangalore tilting the brake fluid reservoir to empty it and filling it with new fluid and screwing the cap back on. No pumping whatsoever! I have seen another service center claiming to adjust accelerator cable in my ride by wire bike. Whenever they fix something, they make room for new faults. My particular bike has visited various KTM service centers across south India for more than 20 times in just 9 months / 15000 km of ownership! After they did some work on clutch, the whole clutch assembly got loose and got disconnected from gearbox shaft inside because it was not properly fitted. It happened twice! I am right now in the process of shortlisting good mechanics outside KTM to take my bike next time. There are plenty in Bangalore who works on superbikes and are happy to work on KTM bikes. It's a great bike and if works are done as per KTM service manual these bikes are highly reliable. But how pathetic, I have to find a good mechanic to work as per KTM standards which I can't find in their own authorised service centers. KTM India needs to learn a lesson or two from Honda 2 Wheelers India . Honda has a separately qualified technician to work on CBR 250R in every main Honda service center! KTM India support doesn't even reply to the emails if they figure out the mistake is on their side. With experience from my life as well as with my close friends, I suggest anyone who is planning to buy a KTM in India to drop the plan, spend more, get a Japanese bike and have peace of mind! Even the new Apache is a better choice as they claim they have technicians specifically trained to work on it. Or if you're someone who likes to work on your own bike or if you know a good mechanic who can work on KTM, just go for it. It's the best! Just don't rely on KTM authorised service centers. They spoil perfectly running bikes. Just search TH-cam for other KTM owners' service center experiences.
Sachin Syam ktm service in my city is good. They treat your bike with respect. And they know what they are doing. Heck they even keep track of your service schedule and calls you for it. And they even teach me basic stuffs like tightening your chain and upto how much.
Cant agree more brother. Development in India is just at the surface level, less than skin deep. If you venture beyond this make-believe facade, all one can get is heart ache, and lot of painful lessons.
I am pulsar 220 user. I have been using pulsar 220f since 2010 and I haven't faced such issues either with engine or spare parts. Made in India is the best u can ever trust. Now modern featuristic, sophisticating technology makes everything complicated whether it be with engine or smart phones.
Thanks, MSK for an honest review. I was planning to buy KTM 390 bs6 but now I have changed my mind and searching for Kawasaki Ninja 400 or Yamaha YZF R3 or if budget permits Kawasaki Z650R. I will never buy KTM in the future also.

I own ktm duke 390, completed 45000 kms. Monthly 2 rounds from Mumbai to Chiplun (Mumbai-Goa) highway. I feel extremely safe on it even riding at 140. Average is 35 to 40kmpl. Not a single crash in 45k is worth buying. Never wobbles due to high winds. very stable and agile at the same time.

4:17 same thing happened to me with the gear lever after replacement. it came of in the middle of my 1100km trip and dragged over the road after replacing the entire gear rod section by KTM
My same bike is 14days old, 557km only and the top right leg guard bolt is broken and stuck while riding. Bolt is now stuck in frame, flush with no user way to remove. I mean first service bhi nahi hui hai abtak.. And why everyone is having issues with leg guard in front left, top bolt? I think it's great from fan as it comes from that side only and engine heat.. And heat se hua metal expand, halka sa jhatka and bolt gone.
Really great that u showcased these probs, even my rc 200 is having some of these similar probs, but ktm hasnt been able to fix it yet. Nd i really love ur editing, ride safe.

All about technology 24x7 Just buy it. It is the best bike in the segment. Dont dare to buy dominar. Dominar is heavy and ground clearance is poor. I have a duke 390 and its best .. u will love riding it. U should definitely go for this bike and u will never regret after buying it. I have 2012 KTM Duke 200 which has clocked 32000km and 2013 Duke 390 which has clocked 22000km.Also my cousin has bought RC200 in 2014.He has clocked 28000km.But we haven't faced any issue with our bikes.Yes that unstable RPM of Duke 390 is there in my Duke also.It really makes matter worse when you ride in traffic.Ithought that they have resolved this in new Duke.But thanks for enlightening us on this matter.service center in your area is really bad.

Well said bro.. highway me Hilti h bike I had KTM if u r on one way or agar koi truck ata h tez to ye cycle lgti h... But with my new dominar it doesn't happen.. bohat solid h dominar highway pe.. chahe wind ho ya heavy vechile over take road SE nai hilegi... 180kg comes in use there hahah bro KTM ki achai bus power or weights or kuch ni even on long ride highway feel tired .. for city it's good
