In the Golden Age comics, the first ever penguin was portrayed as a mobster with a deep passion for Judo and was an accomplished Judoka.
I swear everyone in the 2004 Batman knew how to throw hands besides killer moth
2004 batman is one of my favorite piece of batman media
The batman has peak Penguin and Riddler in batman media. TAS has peak Harley Quinn and Mr freeze. The Arkham games has peak Joker. And Alfred's always a legend in everything
I love this show. I'm so happy I grew up with this Batman.
This series was my first introduction to Batman as a kid. It made me fall in love with the character, even before I saw other incredible Batman shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Brave and The Bold, or Batman: Beyond. Although those shows are arguably better, I still find this show to be my favourite Batman series, and this year, the show reached its 20th anniversary. Tom Kenny gives a really entertaining performance as Penguin in this show. I love the idea of Penguin having martial arts experience from training in Japan despite his height, and actually putting up a good fight against Batman. It is such a breath of fresh air, especially since it reflects Bruce's training to become Batman in a way. I also love the addition of the KUboki Twins, as they're such a creepy and menacing duo that act as Penguin's bodyguards, and I wish more adaptations/media included them since they're so cool.
I like the Penguin as a villain and how he is a dark reflection of Bruce with all his wealth yet none of his humility or generosity and is only greedy for power and control. If you want to check out other great takes on the Penguin, then I recommend the live-action series Gotham (FOX show), and that show's underrated adaptation of Penguin performed exceptionally well by Robert Lord Taylor, who gives such a fresh new take on the character with more sadistic yet sympathetic with a lot nuance behind him as he rises to power. Definitely worth a watch since the show is pretty overlooked despite lasting for 5 Seasons.
Gothams penguin was ruined by making him be in love with the riddler so it defeated the story in the first seasons he was on some weird ass vibes not underrated at all he was good for a little while then the series became redundant
"The Orient" is just a fancy way of saying Asia, part of the story in this version of the Penguin is that he is a fake aristocrat, He tries to pretend he is a high society guy(Using Fancy words) but it's all fake(He donates a wad of money but turns out it's all 1 Dollar bills).
Was never a hardcore fan of the batman, but there are elements of it I did enjoy! Awesome penguin awesome joker, and just a new takes in general that separated it from BTAS. What was good to chill out with the last video that talks about that and I respect for it!😊
I like The Batman 66 Penguin. He could throw fists in a knock down drag out fist fight.
I Like when batman's villains can all at least hold their own in a fight with him I think that's cool.
I personally think that this series, as well as the 90s Batman the Animated Series and even the second Tim Burton film (which I know a lot of people hate) all actually have fairly compelling versions of the Penguin. Sure, the Penguin can seem like an umbrella gadget-wielding, high society-talking, bird loving goofy villain at times. But at his core, I think what produces the best versions of the Penguin is the idea of someone who is essentially a deformed monster and gangster with a veneer of class and sophistication. What makes the Penguin a compelling villain is precisely the fact that he is a murderous, greedy, gluttonous, womanizing monster that nevertheless desperately wants to be seen as a member of high society, and accepted into that world. And he's deeply resentful of the fact that the upper class will never fully accept him as one of their own. And I like the versions of him where he can seem composed at times, but when that composure slips away, the true monster underneath is exposed. All three of these depictions I think showcased a version of the character that highlighted these core elements of his personality, to varying degrees.
Don’t forget the Batman movie “the Batman” with Colin feral
This absolutely reminds me of another factoid I heard penguin and joker are something like friends. In one version of the cartoon joker takes Harley on the town. A first date if you will. They jump off an elavator about to blow while she asks if anyone's survived a night out with him and a they fall he pulls out an umbrella with a propeller. A souvenir from penguin.
I appreciated this series for many reasons. But the main thing is how we see a Batman that steadily progresses as a combatant and a hero throughout the story. Example, when he first fights Bane in this series he barely survives and when he finally defeats him he had to use a mech suit to edge out the battle, but by season 2 or 3 after Dick and Barbara are established he runs into Bane again and defeats him pure skill no extra equipment, no prep and what looked liked minimal effort. Whenever u get both novice Batman and seasoned Batman within the same story it’s an instant W in my book
It’s terrifying to imagine a 3 foot five person who’s good at fighting and acrobatic
Well this show in particular was a standout from any show at the time. the animation quality was insane for a weekly show and one of my favorites when it comes to choreo and direction in the action.
Just so you know, Cobblepot actually said "A few tricks I picked up in the Orient", in other words, the eastern world, the continent of Asia. He just doesn't enunciate the "t" very well.
Even though I'm an old head who will always view the 90s Batman Animated Series as the GOAT (and not just because I grew up with it), I greatly respect and admire this version of Batman as well. "The Batman" was more anime-inspired, with slightly faster-paced animation I'd say generally and an overall younger feel to the character than TAS. But both versions are fantastic.
You should totally check out Batman Vs Dracula
Yes it was actually cool that this version of the penguin actually could have beaten Batman
I wasn't really a fan of this show at the start. Mainly because Kevin wasn't voicing this Batman. I started liking it later on
4:00 The Orient literally just means somewhere in asia
Yes its very logical that small fat dude can jump so high in the air and beat Batman.
Forgot it’s the 20th anni for the Batman
I would love to see you do what if the Justice League was teleported into the Boys universe.
Possibly when's that were old and had their timeline erased but regain their youth when teleporting into the new universe perhaps right when homelander first appeared as a superhero.
The batman is truly underrated gem 💎
One of the comics penguins was a learning how to fight
Can you discuss how strong you think Batman is?
I was considering doing this
You should talk about bane in this show
Penguin shouldn't be this OP. 😂😂
Yo Cómic Casual Please do What If Dante(Devil May Cry) was Teleported to The Boys Universe!

FINALLY A VIDEO ABOUT THE BEST BATMAN SERIES 💯💯💯
Make more vids of the Batman 2004
I always say this penguin is a good villain regardless but when he has hands he is a way better villain
It’s the best Batman show ever in the world
4:00 orian? Or orient? Because orient was just a general term for Asia in the past.
The Orient is a derogatory term for Asia. Probably China/Japan
The best adaptation of The Penguin is the one from Gotham. Trust me on that.
What is the Orien?
The Orient... in other words Asia, "the eastern world" generally speaking. But yeah... Cobblepot could afford to enunciate his "t"s a little more clearly, lol.
@@Mishalex Given that he was a master Judoka in the original golden age comics, that fits.
I have mixed feelings about this version of penguin because I always prefer Paul Williams as the voice of penguin as that I think he should really sound like, but I always felt that Batman and Penguin should have been like Eliot Ness and Al Capone from the Untouchables as well as Daredevil/Spider-Man and Kingpin but also Scrooge McDuck and Glumgold.
It never explained where those henchwomen came from as they don’t seem human and I felt that Penguin should have been a crime Lord behind the scenes but that went to Hugo Strange
