Great information. Those windows can be a pain in the but in your case with the apartment i would the same. Awesome video!

Stonefly Aquatics thanks! It’s the best growing plant we have had in here. Thrives in the tank we have now!

Hiya! Your apartment gets lovely natural light...wow, but yep, there is always a collateral effect - I LOVE how the daylight looks in your tank. Your tanks are lovely:) This was a great video - good advice! New friend here - so nice to meet you!

Good information! Your tanks are awesome! One of my tanks is a 125 gallon, Ohio native sunfish tank with one hang on the back filter and a 528 gph canister filter. That tank gets a lot of blue-green algae that grows like a carpet, and normal green algae on the back glass that absolutely does not want to be scrubbed or scraped off! The fish eat most of the plants and snails I put in there! I have resorted to using algaecide, with very limited success. Also, these tanks are in rooms with no windows. In the cichlid tank and my Ohio native creek tank, the biggest problem is that blackish algae covering the rocks.

Currently having a nightmare fighting hair algae in my community tank. The only plants in there are various forms of Java fern so nothing in there to fight the battle. I had literally hundreds of pest snails in the tank via plants I bought online that would probably have helped with the algae but I decided to add some Assassin snails to sort out the pest snails which they have been successful at but unfortunately wiped out my entire breeding colony of Rili shrimp as well :-(

Siobhon Phillips that’s tough. Hopefully this video helped you a little bit, I’m sure you’ll win the battle!

Awesome. Started new 100L aquarium this year with some male guppies. At the moment just got artificial plants and had the lights on too long, and not enough water changes. Going to address all of these likely causes for my algae growth. Which plants do you have in the tank as they look great?

I would like to add snails since they seems to be good algae eaters along the glass. But I'm worried that my res turtle will eat them. Any thoughts on this?

he doesn't mention anything about adding co2.. I heard plant growth (by adding co2) is a huge help to prevent/kill algae. But I was surprised to hear he cleans these damn big aquariums 2 per week :o so maintenance seems to be the key..

I once had a 3 gallon tank with a betta and had algae, bought 2 Nerite snails and they cleaned the algae but they pooped like crazy, it was awful, just as bad as the algae next time I'll go for a different species of snail cause I know they aren't all like that

I need some help here. I have Plants that have black stuff all over them and it doesn't come off. Does any one know what it is and how to treat it? Plants are still alive but I have no clue what that black stuff is.

I thought snails are hard to control and can overpopulate. Is this a wives tale? Are they easy to manage?

See I really want algae so I’m gonna do the opposite of all these 🤣
Jk. I’m still gonna do routine maintenance and have good flow.
But I’m gonna try to have excess lighting and let my nitrates get a little high
