    I am so happy I found your video. I have been sewing for years and recently when I sew I get horrible migraines. I truly do believe that these techniques will help. Thank you 😊

    I so happy I found your video! I've been having neck mobility issues and concluded it was my posture while sewing. When I spend a few days away on vacation, my neck feels better and is more mobile. I'm going to double check all my postural positions and fix them! Thank you so much for making this video!

    These are great tips. Just started sewing costumes for my drag a few weeks ago, and the shoulder and back pain has gotten to the point I have to stop sewing after a few hours. I will definitely be adjusting my work space and being conscious of posture and breaks!

    Wish I knew about this before I started sewing. My neck, shoulders and back are all knotted up because my sewing machine was way too high on a writing desk. Now looking for ways to build a better sewing table. Thank you.

      Same! I've been quilting for years using a small writing table which is too high, so I end up with my shoulders round my ears, so I now have neck issues and headaches, I too need to reconfigure things as much as possible, I wish I had one of these lovely sewing tables!

    good morning! i just watched your video and im experiencing ALL what you have described in regards to back pains from bad posture of sitting and sewing. It pains sooo much😭 Im taking a muscle relaxer and a topical ointment, laying flat on my back with my leg up and no relief and I have face masks 😷 to sew.

    I know you posted this video 10 months ago but I’ve been searching for a sewing table that would allow me to sit at the correct posture as you demonstrated. May I ask where did you purchase your sewing machine table?

    • @StringandStory
      @StringandStory  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Annie! It's Juki table! I recommend checking with your local juki dealer to see if they sell them separate from machines and if it could be used with your machine :-)

  • @zazmau

    Great advice but I can't see what I'm sewing. I need to have my eyes closer to my needle. So far so good without pain.

      If you're having trouble seeing, I recommend improving the light in your sewing area. My Daylight Slimline lamp made a world of difference for me! You can check them out here: www.stringandstory.com/amazonpicks

    What’s your opinion on using a saddle stool when long arm quilting? They don’t seem like they have enough padding for the sit bones.

    Madam, i Ma'am, I feel a lot of pain in my elbow now while sewing. Which is very painful.
    Please let me know if this is due to my sitting position? If so how to sit? My height is 5.4" inches.

  • @noplacelikehome9116
    @noplacelikehome9116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome! Thanks for the great ideas. Do you have any advice for the proper height for a long arm machine in relation to the body?

    • @jeanene72
      @jeanene72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not trying to be smart, but why would it be any different? It's the height of the bed of the machine in relation to your body. Your posture involves where you rest your arms, the angle of your head as you look at the needle, etc. Having the bed of the machine level with your ribs would be the same on a long arm machine, wouldn't it?

    • @noplacelikehome9116
      @noplacelikehome9116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeanene72 It's a different dynamic when you are standing and moving the handles on a longarm. It's kind of like using a router over wood. The surface height can determine your comfort since you are leaning over and guiding a heavy tool. I get what you mean though. No offense taken. :)

      I am tall, so to make my posture correct, I had my husband cut the legs shorter on my sewing chair (it was an old chair so no biggie). Can you get an old table and but the legs down?
