Thank you for the great tour of these beautiful historic homes thankfully preserved! I used to live on the Upper East Side when I worked as a fashion illustrator in Manhattan and remember some of these iconic buildings. I used to hang out at the Frick Museum almost every Sunday because they used to have free concerts every Sunday afternoons in the early 1970s. I remember the inner court yard where one could sit listening to a quartet which was so relaxing from the usual hustle and bustle of city life! The dining room facing Fifth Ave. was particularly lovely and serene with a beautiful floral arrangement on the round dining room table! I also worked around the corner from the J.P. Morgan Library which was his home, another amazing mansion with a secret underground tunnel he used during the 19th century. When I wasn't there, I was at the great MET taking in all the fabulous art and sculptures or gorgeous Central Park thanks to landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Boston's Public Garden, St. Auburn Cemetery and the 1893 Chicago's World Fair's White City which was magnificent! Very important to preserve the architecture of the past, once it's gone via the wrecking ball, it's; gone for good! So please support the National Trust for Historic Preservation!
Aw, you missed one of my favorites - the DeLaMar Mansion at 37th on Madison! Now it is the Polish Consulate and across the street from the Morgan Library - another amazingly beautiful building!
I loved your presentation of the mansions of NYC. You should include the Steinway mansion in Queens. It is the home of the Steinway family which made the top piano for 98% of concert pianists throughout the world. The mansion is located not too far from the piano factory. Thank you for your fantastic video!
Yeah and I think it is the oldest in and around New York City she said there was another one on here but I’m pretty positive the Steinway is I think that family owned all of the land there many years. They definitely employed many.

The Otto Kahn mansion across the street from the Carnegie mansion on 91st street also deserves your recognition. It houses a Catholic Girls school now. Kahn also built Oheka, the 2nd largest home in America on Long Island's north shore.
WOWser! Wonderful that these have been preserved. I'd love to see a few of these in person some day. First Prize: ALL NYC videos are the most upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic NY videos on TH-cam.
These are amazing buildings. Thanks for giving the basic, must useful information about each of them. I like that you were able to tell us what style the house is, like a "Beaux Arts" or a "Greek Revival".

And, a snippet of their history was the icing on the cake. Well done!! Time traveling-during Covid- It doesn’t get better than this. ❤️
Thanks for posting. I’m by some of these buildings all the time and rarely bother to look up. The city also has some magnificent door portals and foundations. I always discover something new when I cut through the short blocks. I have no idea how they moved the Hamilton home. I assume there is a video on TH-cam to answer my question.
The Otto Kahn House across the street from the Carnegie House might be a good addition. Also, the huge triple mansion presently the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia at Park Avenue & East 91st Street built in several stages in the early 20th century. Really like your video, thank you so much.
#13 11:03 The Schinasi Mansion is not the only single family detached house still used as a residence on Manhattan Island. There are three up on W 217th Street between Park Terrace East & Park Terrace West streets less than a block away from the Columbia University athletic fields.
I’m interested as to how many cities you’ve visited? Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, london, Dublin and hundreds of other genuinely interesting cities beat New York.
What a bunch of dead beats. It wasn't about other cities. NYC has incredible history. The only city I've been to was Paris that was mentioned. Don't go there if you are with someone disabled - you can't even cross the street, no laws requiring access for disabled, when we went out to dinner it took several restaurants to even be seated because they refused us and were stuck in the back and grudgingly served. Anyone who thinks NYC is depressing because of pandemic obviously doesn't get it. NYC was in crisis and we hunkered down and followed public health guidelines.

An awesome collection of beautiful homes. It should be noted that the Schinasi Mansion figured promanently in the TV series 'White Collar' as the home of Diahann Carroll's character June Ellington who befriended Matt Bomer's Neil Caffrey and allowed him to live in the rooftop suite.
This was wonderful. It caused me to think on the workmanship and vision of those who labored to create them. Then I gave thought to the whole city of equally amazing buildings. Then I thought what an amazing work man has wrought all over the world. (Having seen much on You Tube). How can anyone doubt that we are the offspring of The Great Intelligent Creator?
I left NYC in the 1980's. It's still my home. Your presentation is amazing!!! I am planning a trip in the near future and want to visit the historical homes that are museums. Ever think of being a tour guide?
It’s so so sad that so many are gone in the name of what they call progress. The city made it too expensive to own. And even sadder most of the interiors have been reduced to commercial looks with no related aesthetics of their original style. Where Europe keeps and relishes their history. We tear it down. Such a loss and such a shame

@@vincentschicchi4647 I agree with you, would be amazing to still see those beautiful buildings/ streets standing with families living in them, greenery around it, big driveways, no extremely tall buildings, and then on occasion in between a museum with the interior/ walls intact, which also suits the often old paintings better (and tbh, there are people, that do look at the old wallpaper and chandeliers and crown molding and windows and stairs and floors and ceilings and gardens and fountains and old furniture, etc. & luckily in Vienna/ Amsterdam/ Paris/ London, etc. they had a lot left (haven’t been to the US)).
