As closely as I can tell. My 9th great-grandfather was Captain Doctor Robert Jeffreys. He was mentioned in "the Genealogical Dictionary of the first Settlers of New England" on page 540. He was one of the founders of Newport, Rhode Island, and was treasurer for three years including the year 1640. He was a captain of the militia, a surgeon, and treasurer. He was entrusted to mediate an Indian legal matter, and was a surveyor. I would like to know more since I am Doctor Robert Jeffrey.
I'm teaching Rhode Island History and this is perfect. Great work.
