I've been a big Burzum fan ever since the release of the 1996 album, Filosofem. Before that, I really didn't understand any of Varg’s work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Filosofem where Varg really came into his own, commercially and artistically. I think Daudi Baldrs was Burzum’s undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing from Varg. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. This is Erblicket die töchter des firmaments, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
well this is a SUPER professional quality cover. same heaviness, same rawness, same darkness, same feelings, congratulations. wonderful job, from a burzum fan (until hillsjaf only though... past that album, although i love his perspective of things, his music lost in intensity and depth.)
Atmosphere is a absolute necessity for metal in general. Without stimmung and pathos, the embrace of the tragic and the ability to find beauty in darkness, black metal cannot wrench its necrofrost claws with full national romantik imaginative turgidity.
