I think the way to play, and I don't, is when you win half of what you brought in to gamble with, quit. If the guy started with $500, he should quit when he wins $250.

Kinda but not really. If you get on a streak and your bets aren't gonna impact your flow heavily then you can just keep going until you lose a hand then bail.

There's no great secret to blackjack in casinos. Sit down and let the cards fall the way they do. The house is always slightly tipped to win, so if you do come up with some profit, consider it a good win and walk away.
If you are a gambler though...you'll probably be sitting at the table like these two until you're in the hole.

MattyK Technically there are a few rules that are supposed to increase your odds of winning somehow. 'Hit or Stand' helped me out there.

When playing blackjack, I am there to spend money, not make money. If I'm winning and I decide to quit early, then it isn't anywhere near as fun.
That said, there are general rules you can follow to minimise your chances of losing. If the casino is going to take my money, I'm not going to make it easy for them.
Not if they use constant shuffling machines... then there's nothing to count.

That reminds me of the bad old days before 2007 when smoking was allowed in casinos. How on Earth did I put up with 8 players around me, all smoking cigarettes and blowing their carcinogenic fumes right into my face?
Having been a dealer myself, very few dealers know perfect Basic Strategy and probably < 1% of players know it - DO NOT play Blackjack without knowing Basic Strategy for the particular table rules. For example, on a 6-deck table which pays blackjacks 3:2 where dealer hits on soft 17, you can slice the house edge down to approximately 0.64% - Card counting can reverse this and actually increase the player's edge by approximately 0.5% per increase in the True Count - I highly recommend Blackjack Apprenticeship TH-cam channel for anyone seriously wanting to play without getting their asses handed to them by the casino.
Just because people buy in for a lot of money, doesn't mean they know how to play - Learned that on my first day as a dealer. Pure stupidity to come to a casino game and not know the odds or strategies.
Nobody who knows what they are doing plays at a table with a six deck shoe anyway, tbh.

Better off learning and playing craps. Better odds. More fun. Everyone wins together. Some players have skill in controlled dice throwing. Blackjack has infuriating losing streaks.

Basically mate, he let's his subjects hang themselves, earlier on in the program he's discussing the pain in losing, these guys laugh at him and say gambling is fun and it's not about winning or losing, this scene quite clearly shows Favreau on tilt. Louis is good at that approach, the subject always hangs themself, Louis never has to confront them.
I won $4800 at the Casino once. Got up, walked out, and paid a months rent, bought some movies, games and books, a new console and other stuff, and stuck what was left in the bank. Good times.
Good for you. I have a similar story when I hit black or red. First time I ever gambled in a casino…won and left. Never went back to one since. I honestly hate those places and wish they would all go bankrupt

Went to Vegas last year and made the decision to gamble $100 on a hand of Blackjack. Miraculously I got a Blackjack. Walked away instantly $150 profit, despite the fact that people were trying to talk me into gambling more. Never gambled again and never will.

I’m only on my fifteenth credit card gambling.
Lol I’ve probably made more money gambling than I’ve lost on it tough not sure. I’ve never gambled really bought like a loto ticket and done it for fun a few times with the expectation of loosing money on slots as a kid. I’ve probably spend less than a 100 bucks throughout my entire life on gambling maybe earned 120? Not sure. Got some loto tickets as presents and earned a bit from it as well.
The bizarre thing is I can’t tell if these gamblers are serious when they give Louis positive advise on gambling. I think they seriously believe that gambling is a good thing.

Vegas casinos got real greedy in the last 6-7 years... they started doing triple zero roulette and 6/5 blackjack in places (getting blackjack should always pay 3/2)

Gambling with real money is so fun. Casinos are meant for entertainment like a vacation/getaway, but too sad most people just don't get it.
I go to casinos because of the adult atmosphere. I like the smoke, the drink the games, the lights all the action.

Of all the vices, gambling is the worst. With alcohol and drugs there's only so much money you can spend but with gambling, you could lose everything you own within 10 seconds

To be honest if I've sat there all night playing BlackJack, after a few hours take stock and say I've broke even and back to where I've started I'd count the dozen or so free drinks I'd consumed and say I'm well up - I've basically had a free night and go to bed.

@@superguy7044 I used to go the casino with my college friends in Scotland. I'd just be there for the free drinks which they give you whether you play or not (because most people play). My friends would drink and play, and they almost always lost. Nice free snacks too. Frogs legs and prawn cocktails I remember.

Used to do that with my classmates when we were 18. Went to the casino every schoolday, always brining less money then we would eat and drink there(for free). The staff knew but liked us so let it go😂 best school lunch ever.

Went to a casino for a mates bachelours party once. Not a gambler so in my mind I was thinking "I have £50, once its gone its gone and I'm done." Got up £80 on blackjack then lost it.
