- Bryan Frankenstein, the son of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, uses a newly built machine to bring King Kong back from the dead. But when an unexpected lightning bolt revives the beast instead, Bryan must bring to life a new and powerful monster to hopefully destroy Kong in what is sure to be a fight to the death.

The idea for this film was based on an idea Willis O' Brien, who created the groundbreaking special effects from the original 1933 classic King Kong. Being a fan of the story of Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and later adapted to the classic 1931 James Whayle film of the same name, O' Brien wanted to create a movie about one of Frankenstein's monsters doing battle with Kong in San Francisco. After selling his script to a producer, who would eventually sell it to Toho Studios behind O' Brien's back, O'Bie's idea would eventually become the 1962 kaiju classic, King Kong vs. Godzilla. O' Brien was very upset by the final product, and would never make this, or any of his many unrealized projects.
I always thought that the idea was very fascinating, both by the descriptions of the project and the conceptual artwork made by O' Brien. This film is also sort of a bridge between the original King Kong from 1933 and King Kong vs. Godzilla. So after about 5 months of animating some very stubborn clay puppets in a dark room, the film was complete. It's not perfect, there are some moments when the puppets would look bad, as well as some of the effects and sets, but I still think that the overall product came out as my best work yet.

I’ve been speculating a theory when Godzilla x Kong came out that if Toho made a sequel for King Kong vs Godzilla, it would’ve been titled “King Kong and Godzilla: Retribution” and the main villain would’ve been Frankenstein
Strange but an interesting choice you chose Night on Bald Mountain for Kong fighting Frankenstein's monster.

But wait.. why did they want Kong to live when Prometheus was actually supposed to stop him? And Kong killed a lot of people and Prometheus killed like, nobody in this movie. My only complaint though. Bryan created Prometheus to stop Kong, and when Kong won, Bryan was like "Come again, cap'n."

Basically, yeah, it was originally called King Kong vs. Frankenstein when O' Brien first wrote it but it was changed to King Kong vs Prometheus during some script changes. Prometheus was the alternative name for the original Frankenstein monster from Mary Shelly.

Where did Frankenstein come from?
I thought of doing another idea in TOHO of how Kong will battle someone and in 1958 the idea came called King Kong vs Edirah

+cyclops studios I am actually about to do a lost king kong movie called The Lost Island 1934 where it told the basic plot of King kong 1933, but with marionettes, men in monster suits and musical numbers where it was going to be the first King Kong parody and the first movie with technical, but was cancelled due to the studios budget running out very quickly and I find it fascinating and looked like they put in time and effort all in it and looks like it would have been a lot of fun to see and I started doing this having all the money for the supplies for the marionette people and the monster suits which in fact I hired like about 3 people to play the dinosaur's, but didn't had anybody to play the ape and I was thinking of making it a giant baboon ape and the voices for the marionette people and I started looking in canada to search anyone and still no luck, but eventually I might get some and get all the equipment I need if I have much more money and film it and probably release it to a film festival in Toronto and also if you think this idea is good and I should do it then I will tell you when I release it on my channel and you can go check it out for yourself and think what you thought about it.
Carl Anderson that's so cool! I've heard of this lost project as well and think it would've had some great potential to be a lighthearted comedy with some great production values! I would certainly like to see how your production comes out, hope for the best!
