  • The year is 2185. It is the future. The world clings to a tenuous peace, desperately holding onto an idealistic future. Beneath the surface conflict boils as an insurgent faction, the Conglomerate, initiates its plans to overthrow the world's peace keeping force: The World Union. With Godzilla's emergence, the World Union must utilize every weapon in its arsenal to preserve the peace. Including the deadly Anti-Godzilla weapon, Mechagodzilla. It's man against man against nature, the ultimate conflict begins now!
    BY FAR my best work yet. After two months of arduous and rigorous filming, I am proud to present Godzilla 2185! Hopefully the first of many to come! Enjoy! And no I have no idea how I was able to make this in only two months. Sometimes the film gods possess me and I just bust out scene after scene.
    Check out the amazing people who voice acted in this film, their content is easily among my favorite on the entire platform.

    What I love about this movie is that the camera actually moves! Unlike other fan films where the camera is just still and the monsters are fighting. Where in this one when Godzilla slaps mechagodzilla with his tail the camera moves like an actual movie!

    This film was such a phenomenon, and this is a great way to celebrate the Big G's 65th birthday. My heart legitimately skipped a beat when I saw this in my notification inbox. And it is awesome knowing a guy could make a 24 minutes stop motion film. 24 MINUTES! That is super incredible! Thank you Moorezilla, please keep up the awesome job.

  • @TOHOREMIX

    Without a doubt one of the best fan made efforts to come out this year.
    I knew from that teaser this would be something special...
    And holy moly is it something really special.
    The story alone is intriguing and absolutely makes me want to know more. There have been future bound Godzilla stories before, but on TH-cam? Very rarely, so this is a welcome sight on that alone. The world building plays part in that with the two factions in combat and it is a joy to watch. I was hooked with what they were doing.
    Normally, when Lego is involved with Godzilla Fan Films I've never quite seen it done well til this. It really helps set the cast apart and you can tell who's who. It's soo refreshing after seeing buff action figures as military personnel in fan films for years. Not only that, but the set pieces built with Lego look great and ode well to being debris. Everything somehow works and you should be proud of that. Definitely develop on that.
    Another aspect you see frequently but done really well here is the SFX. Not only did they look good but also have just the right amount of speed. Godzilla's Atomic Breath for one example, moves and animates as it should. One of my Fan Film pet peeves is seeing Atomic Breath SFX moving slowly, so you nailed it with this. And before I forget... Tin foil and other practical effects usage here? Genius. Especially the tin foil.
    But by far the best aspect of this entire fan film - The Choreography. THIS. IS. WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. And not just with the Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla battle, but also the human conflicts. There's a great blend of gun fights vs the one hand to hand scene when the insurgent steals the sample. The camera work put into these scenes makes it pretty the John Wick of Godzilla fan films. Fantastic stuff.
    But I have to go back to the GVSMG fight.... MMMMMMMMM. It was absolutely perfect, in pacing, choreography, build up and climax. Not to mention the stop motion is among the best I have seen in years. I am not exaggerating, Both monsters were brought to life tremendously. Despite being the antagonist, Godzilla has alot of personality, especially when he gets hurt. He is alive, which is hard to pull of effectively. The same goes with Poster MG. I have that same figure and really want to know how did you get the legs to animate so smoothly? Mine barely moves an inch. Lol.
    Seriously, keep it up, because the fight sequences are Godzilla 2185's strongest point.
    Now, I could continue gushing about this forever, but that's not my style, as there are some pointers that do hold this fan film back.
    The sound mixing for the voices being one of them. Everything else sounds GREAT, but due to the voice actors different mic's (I assume), some voices sound more muffled then others. As a result, The insurgent's hologram is barely audible.
    The script, while not terrible, is familiar territory. Alot of the dialogue at times is stuff that's been said before elsewhere. I understand that some of it is relying info as it's a military situation, but maybe next time try and make it a bit more, concise I should say?
    This might seem weird, but I highly recommend watching Totally Not Mark's The Anatomy Of Anime Videos - Like this one for example:
    th-cam.com/video/tzoPcs_lJ8Q/w-d-xo.html
    Not Necessarily for the anime content, but rather the examples used for story telling analysis. I think they should be of some assistance to you going forward.
    And lastly, the voice acting is mixed. Some characters sound better then others. This is not a detriment to the Voice Actors, As I'm sure everyone did the best they could, But going forward that might be something to work on as future characters should sound more natural and alive.
    And that concludes pretty much the most text I've ever typed for a comment review. You and everyone involved should be proud of what has been accomplished here. Godzilla 2185 is the most enjoyment I have gotten from a Fan Film in years, and just the boost I needed after being bitterly let down by KOTM. So thank you. I wish you the best of luck for the next installment!!
    Oh, one last thing - Normally I'm not the biggest fan of Akira's music in fan films as usually everyone and their mother has used his works in some form or another, but the selection here is surprising I commend you for using his material outside of the Godzilla series, as well as other Non-Akira works. I hope this variety continues, as it helps make the music stand out. Hearing the Mysterian Battle music was a hype inducing moment and sync perfectly with the fight transition.

    • @MoorezillaFilms
      @MoorezillaFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      THIS. This is my favorite comment of all time. I appreciate the effort you put into actually detailing things that worked and can be expanded upon, and things that need to be fixed.
      I can assure you that I’ll be reading it more than a few times as I move forward. Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback!!!
      And I’ll definitely be checking out that video, as in my next movie, I want to seriously work on dialogue and characters.
      As for Poster MG, I don’t know if it’s just my figure, but his legs are suuuper loose. This was only countered by the dirt he was standing in, as his feet and tail anchored him pretty solidly into the ground.
      And I’m realllllly glad you thought Godzilla had personality. I wanted him to be the antagonist, but still able to be empathized with. He’s a creature out of his time, and he’s awakened to a strange world where everything wants to kill him. With the exception of the beginning, where he destroys the facility, he never attacks until provoked.

    • @TOHOREMIX
      @TOHOREMIX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, just being honest. You have really strong potential and I'd love to see it grow to the fullest over time. The same goes for everyone on this site and in this corner of the community showing promise, I always push for it if I see it, like here.
      Pleased to hear on all counts. Acknowledgement is a first step towards improvement :). And that goes a long way around here. Again, Mark's videos are a good starting point I believe to get a better grip on things.
      The dirt and etc makes sense. But being a chogokin loose joints is a rare thing to hear of considering they were designed for display. But hey, its nice to know it is possible. Mine pretty much is bound to it's wheels as the range of motion in the hips is barely though. Duuno.
      That is a great way to look at it, and it makes sense. He is seeing and feeling all of this for the first time.
      And take it from me, when it comes to giant monsters, body language is key. When working on Godzilla Vs A Stranger I spent quite some time getting the monsters to emote with movements and sound, which is great to see here, and done well too. Godzilla reacting to MG's blasts, as well as using his head made the fight that much better.
      So as long as you keep ironing out the kinks going forward, you will go places :). It won't be easy, but this is a great start. At the very least, you have a good idea of what it should be all about.
      Again, just keeping it real.

    Outstanding work!
    The premise and story is ambitious, I don't think it's been done before and I'm so glad it worked out.
    The set designs are fantastic, and you got a good sense of scale in the vast majority of the shots.
    The VA's do a good job with their line deliveries, and it rarely feels forced.
    The practical effects work, shots, and coreography are well done. I had to rewind several moments just so my brain could wrap my head around the immense effort you put in for them. I also enjoy the film grain effect you applied, gave the future a neat retro vibe and made me reminisce back to A. Sousa's works.
    If I could find any negative I'd say it's the arrival on the beach (and that's only an issue with scale than anything else) and the explosion sound choices used for the infiltration scene, but that feels like a personal nitpick in the grand scheme of things.
    Overall this fan film shattered my expectations, and I'm so glad I watched it!
    P. S. Gotta applaud you for being able to utilize the Noriyoshi MG for this film btw. Must have taken great patience.

      And to my great surprise, Mechagodzilla wasn’t terribly difficult to work with. His looseness made him a bit more limber for the fight, so he ended up being perfect for what I needed him to do. Plus his weight really anchored him into the dirt, so he was basically a brick. I did have to adjust the legs from time to time, but that was really the only problem I had with him. I just had to use him for this film though, because he looks like a man made classic MG!

    I quit enjoyed this film. The use of legos and destroy all monsters music for the human scenes made immersed in the story. The animation, as to be expected from you, was incredible. Every movement was smooth and I appreciate the use of physical sets for the characters and Kaiju to interact with. Speaking of the Kaiju, they were easily the highlight. The sense of size you gave Godzilla was impressive and his fight with Mechagodzilla was awesome! I like the intensity and how both had their time to gain the advantage. To be honest, the only true problem, that really isn't that big of a deal, were the lack of veriaty witg sound effects. The same explosion sound was used frequently and it got a little distracting. Same for the cutting noises for whenever the soldiers got punched. Regardless, the film was a treat to watch. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate if you checked out my fan film, Revenge of King Ghidorah. I'm sorry to be that guy to self promote on your work but I want as much people to see it and I would love to here your feedback.

      @MoorezillaFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don’t look lame by any stretch, but definitely by adding in the camera movement, you can ‘feel’ the fight a bit more. Feels more vicious and monstrous imo. I first tried it out in my Godzilla Vs Hedorah short battle, and I haven’t looked back since.

      @@MoorezillaFilms You're welcome. Also I have an idea for a future video request. Could you please do another fan film this time with the Humans having the help of an upgraded, more powerful, Mecha Godzilla, Godzilla Jr. [Godzilla's surviving now grown up son] , and also Gigan [formally enemy turned ally] in an alternate universe (where Godzilla is unfortunately Dead after his last and final battle with Destroyah) to stop both the Evil Space Godzilla [who has returned] and the Evil, terrifying, and very powerful space faring Dalek Empire: th-cam.com/video/QfkWiQnfb0Y/w-d-xo.html in orbit around Earth, while planning to wipe out the citizens of Earth? I always wanted to see giant monsters fighting extremely intelligent, resourceful, brilliant, powerful, and terrifying aliens such as the Daleks who always come back with a vengeance after being thought wiped out as they know how to survive. The Daleks would make very worthy and very dangerous opponents for Shin Godzilla, as Daleks have a vast and extremely powerful and nearly invincible Empire have really awesome weapons, technology, and very cool flying saucer shaped Dalek Warships with very powerful shields and enough devastating weaponry to pulverize and even destroy a planet. (they also have other types of powerful Dalek ship classes such as Hoverbouts, Davro's massive Imperial Dalek Flagship/Mothership, Dalek Battle Cruiser's, Dalek Void ships, Dalek Gun Ships, Dalek Fighter Pods, and many other types of Daleks ships they possess as they have an impressive ability to build and rebuild their fleets at a very fast and very impressive rate).

      Might be interesting to you to know that something along these lines is already planned. However it will take several more movies to get to. King Ghidorah will likely be introduced in movie 3, along with a ‘Mechagodzilla II’
      Moguera will be in the sequel. And I’ve been tossing up either Decepticons or Daleks for the antagonistic aliens, post movie 3.

    However, I must give praise, to the time and effort, and the voices put into this, as well as the effects and sets made for this fanfilm
    Overall, I rate this 8/10
