Hi Braethorn. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. I was helping my friend open his first pre-build PC. He looked into the case and said, "Oh my God! It must have been damaged during shipment." I asked him how he knew his PC was damaged. He said, "Look, the airbag has deployed!" I believe there are two words you should never use when producing a video like this one: "You Know."
As usual, great video. As someone who's been in the PC enthusiast hobby (and custom building) for a LONG time and someone who's worked in the SI/Boutique industry, I like checking out videos like this to see if they're worth recommending to friends/customers of mine. This video was straight to the point for someone new to it, and at no time did it sound like you were talking down to the viewer. Great job, keep it up.
That feedback means a lot, thank you! I worked for about 15 years in various IT positions, and one of the most important skills I developed was how to break down complex, technical explanations into something palatable for an end user. It's far too easy to come off as a know-it-all any time you're explaining something you know to someone who doesn't know that thing. As someone who loves to share knowledge, I'm happy to hear that I've still got it 😁
LOVE how encouraging you are, while being accepting that people may not want to tinker. I just bought my 1st prebuilt at 39. I was building systems and OCing at 19, actually wrote a tutorial on overclocking w/ watercooling and TEC elements back in the day (early 2000s). These days I've been out of the game for so long I just want to plug and play.
What a fab video. Thankyou. The reason why im so impressed is because you keep it simple. No jargon demonstrating how clever you are, blar blar. Well done fella!!
You put a smile on my face with what you said at 17:26. You seemed to legit believe that, and that to me is the biggest thing. You've got a forever subscriber from me. Thank you!
This was super helpful. I get my pc in a couple days and wanted to make sure I was prepared to unpack it. Great job explaining everything in a way a noob like myself can understand!
Hey man not expecting a response as this is from 5 months ago but I wanted to thank you for making this. I’m getting my first pc after laptop gaming for 4 years
Thank you very much. I am going from a gaming laptop to a brand new tower. I have never dove deep into PC building but am looking forward to learning about it. Looking forward to future videos.
This video is soo so helpful! Will there be any videos in the future on setting things up once the computer is up and running? I keep seeing stuff about needing to install drivers and messing with settings but I feel so clueless. Sorry if these are stupid questions, thanks!
I bought my two young kids gaming computers for Christmas. I am dreading when they open them and expect me to put them together. I know nothing about computers. Thank you so much for your help.
I just go mine PC today, and I use 2 monitors. For my old PC which it wasn't a gaming PC, just a regular HP, I was able to connect my monitor (HDMI) and my extra screen via VGA. With this new PC, I have 2 HDMI ports (motherboard and graphic cards). From the motherboard doesn't work. Also, the VGA is not working. What can I do to make my second monitor work? Thank you, and great video!!!
I built my gaming pc back in 2012, got a i5-2500k 32gb ram @1333mh and upgrades to a 1070 many many many years ago, but just got a cyberpowerpc ordered with a ryzen 7 8700f a 4070 super and 32gb ram @6000mh. Comes in Monday and super excited, watched and liked this video to prepare myself :)
@Braethorn you had mentioned something about going over the XMP and making sure that's enabled. Which video do you discuss this topic? Just getting into the hobby and wanting to learn more. Help is much appreciated sir 🙏🏼
If you are going to (P)rebuild, remember where your Windows key is. If you are removing the motherboard and putting in a different mother board you need to purchase another key, it is a pain, unless you have a digital activated license. Most third party resellers activations are OEM keys that are completely legal but attach to your motherboard ID. And it does not really matter if you use a system board from the same company when your old one has gone for an RMA and you get a new board back from the manufacturer, you will most likely run into this issue. Merry Christmas to all, however you may celebrate the holidays.
If your PC has wifi connections on the back but you don't have the antenna, you can buy one on Amazon. If your PC doesn't come with wifi connectivity, you'll have to buy a PCIe wifi card. Thankfully, those are inexpensive and easy to install.
The first thing to do is contact the SI when something like this happens, but you can also take a picture of the cable that's disconnected and ask in the Tech Questions forum of our Discord.
Thank you sir! Not a newb, but bought my first Skytech SI prebuild. (still waiting nervously) :) It helped to get a heads up before it arrives! Keep up the good work sir!
Thanks for amazing video I am still waiting for my first gaming pc (switching from gaming laptop for the first time) and I found this video like when my father was teaching me how to drive a car. Thank you very much. Yossarian from Slovakia living in Switzerland 😊 you sir have a wonderful holidays, merry Christmas to you and your family
Hey there from Australia! Thanks for this very informative video! I’ve just got my first gaming pc in decades and this video is super helpful! So much has changed since my Pentium 4 days I needed to make sure I was doing the right thing! Cheers!
If there's no dedicated graphics card and you're using integrated graphics (like Vega graphics in a 5600G or 5700G), you would plug into the video output on the motherboard rear I/O. The advice in the video is for systems with dedicated GPUs.
Dumb question, and also just bought my first gaming pc. but how often should you completely power off your PC, for example should you completely shut it off after a good long day of gaming? I have a buddy who says he never shuts his pc off. That just doesn’t sound right to me.
💯💯💯 on rolling it around listening for loose screws. A few years ago I got a new Alienware and didn’t open it until I got home from work at 2am. Exhausted and excited I got everything hooked up and loaded a game from my external hd to test it out for a bit before bed. Shortly after, I hear a loud clunk and horrible shaking and rattling only to find that my cpu cooler wasn’t screwed in all the way and fell off.
Got our 9 year old his first gaming pc Black Friday, (ibuypower), just got him the 3060 build, it was assembled great and was easy to set up (I watched one of your older videos on how to set up your prebuilt) works and performs great on all the games he plays, oldest son bought one about a week ago he got the 4060 his works great too, after seeing his I bought my first pc also, all 3 work and perform great all 3 are ibuypower, thanks for the informative videos they really help
I just bought a new iBUYPOWER Gaming PC with Widows 11 Home. Do you recommend installing anti-virus software like Norton? I'm thinking of installing Windows 11 without the bloatware, but I'm not sure what will be left out. Is any of the bloatware useful? Thanks for your video.

Just got my first desktop pc from ibuypower and your video has really helped. Though it’s been 10 months since you made this video, just wanted to comment and say you’ve made a subscriber out of me.
First time PC owner here and bought it used off facebook marketplace place. First that GPU color looks amazing with the case color, second does is really matter what USB port we plug in the KB/mouse? The photos provided by the previous owner has them in another spot. Along with the peripheral being plugged in i have four items that get plugged in KB, mouse, mouse pad, and MMO keypad is there a hub to plug all of them into or just use the USB ports provided.
It doesn't really matter tbh, but you have no reason to get a USB hub until you need it. You can plug them all directly into the back of the system. If you have something like external storage or something that needs a faster port, save the blue or red ports for that, otherwise it's no big deal.
@@johnwilley3324 it was hellish. the person before me hard reset everything so when i got my pc, i throught the terrabite of hdd had broken in transit. but i had to install it back so now i can use it, it was advertised as a 3050 12gb, even tho that doesnt exsist, so its easier to misstype 3050 to a 3060 then a 12gb to 8 or 6gb. but turns out it was a 3050 8gb. even tho not what i wanted, its fine and works perfectly. no lag, great bootup time and littely amazing. better then the 8 year old laptop that took 10 minutes to bootup. Probably sounds stupid but as a console player from age 7 till 24 I have never had a gaming pc and now am curious as how difficult it is to play games on pc you explain everything so nice and calm 😌 well done 👏
Well the controls will be different as most PC gamers use a mouse and keyboard. BUT most PC games from the past 2 decades support game controllers so you can use that if you're more comfortable with a controller. In my opinion, PC gaming requires more up front work and research if you want to have a great experience. A gaming PC is like a regular PC. So if you're looking to build a gaming system, you will need to understand at least at a general level the parts of a computer. You don't need to be a PC expert, but it greatly helps to have a general understanding of how the PC components work.
Hey man for someone who buys one every three years since 2008 I still search “new pc setup”. Why? What if things changed? What if there is a better way? And what if I forgot something from last and this is a great guide for first timers but they don’t need the ad without the disclaimer they already bought it and it is bad timing.

What about the usb and microphone ports at the front/top can I plug in the keyboard, the mouse, and the headset to there? I’m new to PCs and thinking about buying a prebuilt PC
I’m so glad I can across your channel I just got a Ibuypower y60 I think and I had a hard time hooking all the cables up and tried many different ways. The only way I got it to work was I put my dp cable from monitor to the display port on the motherboard then the others I put into the graphics card because I put the display cable from monitor into the gpu but it never worked I could see the arrow but the rest was a black screen. If I put the display from the motherboard into the gpu it won’t work did I do things right? I’ve seen some people put nothing into the motherboard how is that possible🤔🤔
You can plug in the power supply with it switched off so it's grounded and touch the power supply casing occasionally to discharge any static buildup, I'm just sharing best practices in the video.
you might have to turn on the built-in overclock profile for your memory/ram so it runs at their advertised speeds. it'll be called either "EXPO" or "XMP" profiles in your bios
Nothing. Your PC works as normal. Its just that a UPS can help protect your PC in case a sudden power loss. The UPS will keep your PC running so that you can safely turn it off. Its not absolutely critical for most home users to have a UPS, but it can be beneficial. Sudden power loss can cause data loss and/or corruption.
Hi. thanks for the great video. very helpful. I’ve just unpackaged mine and found it to be cold, so waiting for it to acclimatise…. can’t wait to switch it on. I’m not a gamer but i bought a gaming PC. So hope it’s good for Photoshop and CAD etc.
I wanted a pre build pc but where I live at they charge me 500$ for just building it , so I’m doing it myself and I’m afraid I’ll do something wrong. I have probably over 60 hours of research in Reddit TH-cam and Google on everything, I’m thankful for guys like you helping us noobs ❤
I subscribed because this video was exactly what i needed! I have not had a desktop since 2016. My laptop is dreadful….. Just bought a gaming pc today and was so dang frustrated because i couldn't get the monitor hooked up! I feel pretty goofy for not figuring it out on my own! 😆 thanks a bunch!

What about the usb and microphone ports at the front/top can I plug in the keyboard, the mouse, and the headset to there? I’m new to PCs and thinking about buying a prebuilt PC
love the content man, i just got into pcs and managed to save up for my first prebuilt which is a abs aqua, this guide helped me since i’m a big noob.
So I have this issue where I play valorant and when I close out of any game my whole pc just keeps freezing
You helped my partner and I so much with setting up her pre-built pc, thank you so much!
It's supposed to work from the GPU. If you're having trouble with that, try talking to IBP tech support about it.
What if I don’t have a ESD wrist strap to check internals when first arrive?
You can plug in the power supply with it switched off so it's grounded and touch the power supply casing occasionally to discharge any static buildup, I'm just sharing best practices in the video.
Right now, I'm saving up money for a pc. This video will be very helpful in the future
Your video was a huge help for me i just recently bought a pc And this is the video that i was searching huge thanks
Do I have to do anything to the pcs bios if it’s a prebuilt?
you might have to turn on the built-in overclock profile for your memory/ram so it runs at their advertised speeds. it'll be called either "EXPO" or "XMP" profiles in your bios
Can you make a video on explaning basic mother bord ports please
So what happens if you just use a normal power strip and not an ups?
@JJFlores197 ok, so pretty much a nice fail safe? So won't hurt too get one I'm in a area where they do random blackouts sometimes.
Thanks for this. Just purchased my first "gaming" PC and i now feel less intimidated.
Hi. thanks for the great video. very helpful. I’ve just unpackaged mine and found it to be cold, so waiting for it to acclimatise…. can’t wait to switch it on. I’m not a gamer but i bought a gaming PC. So hope it’s good for Photoshop and CAD etc.
I felt like the risk building pc got me nervous so i went ahead and bought a pre build
Now a , how to set up you’re new pre build pc video , love the vids
I just bought a new ibuypower 4070 super pc from bestbuy, are they plug and play or do i have to modify anything?
After the test it didn’t apply. It just asked me to test again. I did it multiple times and nothing. Any solution?
I wanted a pre build pc but where I live at they charge me 500$ for just building it , so I’m doing it myself and I’m afraid I’ll do something wrong.
I have probably over 60 hours of research in Reddit TH-cam and Google on everything, I’m thankful for guys like you helping us noobs ❤
Prebuilt rebuilt will be very helpful for me
I hope so! Production and editing will take a while, but it should be totally worth it.
I just got my prebuilt 3 days ago and I noticed the GPU cord is touching the side panel
Should I be worrried?
It’s a 4090 if that matters any
I don't need this video, but I'm not going to pass up a new Braethorn video, especially on Christmas when my back has locked up and I'm miserable, this will almost certainly improve my mood for a little bit.
I hope the video helped :)
hey braethorn do u know any websites with prebuilt pc at a affordable price
Yup, in fact like 90% of my videos cover exactly that 👍

Hi , do I really need an wifi antenna or is optional
If you have Ethernet you don’t need to attach them but if you are using WiFi you should attach them as not attached antennas bottleneck your wifi speed
Thanks man wanted to find a video like this as im looking to buy a prebuilt ibuypower pc ive been a console user my whole life so thank u for the great info
What cord needs to be in the gpu to the monitor? Display cord, HDMI or both?
Use a display port if your using the monitor and also check on your pc setting your using the highest Refresh rate that your monitor provides
