Awesome work, i had Michael take out 20 deep scratches on my second hand red sea reefer 350 took him a solid 2 hours, was blow away with the results top quality work.
AS a former glass polisher you can absolutly fix scratches on tanks the main thing is scratch depth and placement if it’s on the edge of the tank you won’t be able to blend in the scratch and grow the repair and will be left with distorted glass but that was an easy fix that probably would of come out with a 1200 grit and a Good long polish !!
Love this new vid Cam! Was just trying to figure out how to get rid of severe built up calcium layers in my optic white aquarium. Now I know. I want to go and rent something alike.
That’s a good point, this process will work on calcium buildup too I’m sure. I would caution doing it yourself, it’s something that takes a bit of skill, however there’s probably a video on TH-cam that goes into more specific details. Cam
only problem is that most of the time the scratch is on the inside of the tank, due to sand or what ever.. gotta drain the tank and clean up dust afterward with this method..
I worked in automotive paint and body for a few years, so I basically the same process. Unfortunately there's no way to do it with the inside of an up and running tank is there? If it wasn't so expensive and time consuming I would probably just break down my tank and set up a new one. Still great tip here.
@@GalleryAquaticaTV yeah I'm in the same boat. I'm not breaking down the tank just for a few light scratches. I don't think my sps and acropora would be to thrilled! Lol. Tanks cam! ;)
@@GalleryAquaticaTVhmm that’s a problem as we have 700 litre tank and can’t empty it.. have many scratches I would like to remove but not sure how on a large tank
Only if the person repairing it chooses to sit the abrasive in one spot. A small deep scratch might only be 50mm long but we would have to sand a 600x600 area to keep the entire surface level.
Had Michael polish the scratches from the inside and outside on my 2m tank absolute pro, was the best job made it look brand new happy as a pig in shit I am, highly recommend this bloke and excellent price for what he achieved. Big fan
This process works just as well on internal scratches however the tank does need to be emptied, which is why we only fixed the external scratch on this tank. Cam
I made the mistake of using the Hawaii black sand in my aquarium and me not thinking ahead. What kinda of metals are in volcanic deposits? IRON! Mix that with a magnetic glass cleaner and I've got scratches all over the glass. After a few days II learned to be more careful. Any time it picks up a pebble I take it out and clean it. I had no idea there are some ways to fix scratches while the tank is active. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFORMATION!
@@GalleryAquaticaTV yeah just because I liked the Hawaiian black because it reminded me of actually being there again! And they color contrast it offers is absolutely gorgeous. They seem like they've been adding a little more whit aragonite to the mix but the pistol shrimp and Goby just go messin it up after a gravel siphoning. I don't care about it I love the little pair of symbiotic buggers. I've had a pair in almost every tank for the last 20 something years. Great sand stirrers!
I was expecting a video from Gallery Aquatica TV at Reefstock Australia 🇦🇺 on this episode Cam 😢 but how to get rid of a scratch on your aquarium glass will have to do, I suppose 😂👍🏴 But to be fair 🤷♂️ I seen footage of your stall from Parker’s Reef 🧛♂️and Two Gay Reefers 👨❤️👨 😂😂😂 and the corals looked amazing 👍
Mate… if your Corals would grow like your Hair… you would be an billionaire…☝️😁 Nice topic, ive got one bigger scratch of my Fragboards😞 and its inside🥳😬😞😞 I have to consider on that…Greetings from Cologne✌️
It's actually really comforting to know this can be done! Thanks! :D
That’s exactly what I was aiming for. Cam

Great information thanks so much for sharing Cam
Amazing and easy way to repair scratch in an aquarium, I had no idea! 🤯 The only thing missing here was the sound effects, that would have been nice 🤣
I have a 125 gallon tank that has many scratches! It would be amazing to see it without any imperfections 🤩
Thant is awesome to see. I had a clients tank that we got the pros to sort and was just amazing.

Does polishing with wool can remove light scratches pleade?

Ive used cerium oxide, but the scratch was too deep and of course inside
Only problem is you're not saying what type of polish is being used. I have the machine but need to find out what type of polish to use
You can use cerium oxide in water

Yeah, this tank has some internal scratches that would have been good to fix but not worth breaking the tank down for. Cam

What about on the inside of tank scratches?
You can remove them the same way, however the tank has to be completely emptied. Cam

Wouldn't repairing a deeper scratch lead to lensing?

@@glasspolish Thanks for the reply. Why doesn't the friction from the polishing wheel create a temperature differential that cracks the glass?
@@brwaldbaum7284 that was the problem in the past. New technology discs will keep the glass somewhere between 30 and 50c. 200c might be a danger temp.
Hell yeah great info

Black sand and magnet cleaners are a horrible mix, I’ve definitely made that mistake myself. Cam

WHAT no filming 🎥 Why Cam, Why. 😢😢😢🏴
There’s another scratch which looks worse just above it going the other way.
Yeah it was an internal scratch. We could fix it if we emptied the tank. Cam
Short answer; hire somebody..lol
