My grandfather was from Ballina. Been over there a few times to visit from the US and to see the relations. Great craic in Ballina and Mayo! As in all of Ireland. Slainte!
Eoin... I was staying in Ballina at The Loft last Wednesday and shot a short video early morning... and caught you by the forge... if only I realised at the time!!!
My good man. I love all of the videos you post! Thank you for sharing your woodworking skills with us, as well as some of the lovely people and places in Ireland. Cheers!
Well feck. I'm only a county or two over the way and I never knew this was a thing! I've only ever seen trad crafts at the occasional fleadh or much smaller heritage day event - you'd be hard pressed to find ONE person or stall with some traditional crafts amongst the performances! That mobile forge looks class altogether. I'll have to add this to the calendar for next year, looks like great craic :)
I love watching your tool restorations. I have my Great-grandfather's hand tools including 8 planes, 7 hand saws from coarse to fine, 4 braces and bits including 3 adjustable bits, a drawknife, and a Stanley mitrebox and saw from the early 1900's (i think). I feel like someone should be using them. They are all in fine shape but wouldnt suffer from sharpening. Can you help me find a home for them? I live in the US in Washington state.
i really hope to get to ireland when i’m studying in europe next year. would be lovely to meet some of my irish family for the first time and head to cavan, the place i was named after.
@@cabhanNever mind him 😂 Cavan and counties in the midlands in general are commonly joked about but they are nice places to visit. I’d personally recommend Galway especially Connemara and Cork if you get the chance, tend to avoid Dublin just because it’s a bit of tourist trap and is no where near as scenically beautiful.
@@nervesinapattern7261 im in europe now ! planning to head over in the summer. i'll try get to galway if i can (can't drive unfortunately) but i think just getting to go to ireland in general will be great !!!
That looks deadly! I'm wanting to see (and perhaps participate in) something like this, perhaps next year. I'm a foreign born citizen, and I've yet to visit my own country (the shame!), but I'm hoping soon!
This is a great event! Would it be possible to get websites listed? (my wife loves buying yarn to crochet) I love the woodworking items you do and it's awesome to see the copper work and other's that are mostly gone from the USA
oh wow! I remember going to the heritage day back in 2000, my abiding memory was someone on stilts dressed up in a gigantic suit with a paper mache head of some old duffer and had giant paper mache hands as well holding a pint and a cigarette
My wife is travelling back from New Zealand to Mullingar for Christmas. Id like to buy a froe for her to bring back for me. Any suggestions on where I may find one for her? Cheers!
After hearing it so many times in succession, I find myself wondering what "I'm after" means in Irish slang. We heard all sorts of variants of it, today, and it's got a sort of musicality to it that I really like.
@@chrisjurica9326 I don't think that really makes sense in this context. Like, in American English sure, that works just fine, but the Irish slang version it doesn't quite fit.
It depends on the context but generally it means "I have just". For example "I'm after stubbing my toe on the table" means "I've just stubbed my toe on the table".
That looks like it was an amazing event! Gotta love a good local heritage day/craft fair/etc!
It’s these parts, places, people, and events I’d love to see when I visit Ireland someday.

Great day great traditions thank you 😊
Cheers from Nova Scotia!
God bless yas lads for keeping these trades alive!
Just found your channel and your accent is like music to my ears! Greetings from Scotland 🏴
I come from Ballina. Just the one on the other side of the planet in Australia 😎
Would love to visit Ireland’s
Wondered if I'd find another local here haha
Oh I wish I was there! So many amazing crafts, and to be able to wear a sweater in summer is truly a blessing!
I'm delighted you put clip on. I be there next year. Thanks
I could spend days going from crafter to crafter and just watching. Their talent is simply amazing.

Great video, plenty of good things to see there cheers from chicago
Thank you for sharing
what a place - a little bit of everything eh. jack's bows look spectacular.
Love to see Michael!
New bucketlist idea, go to Ireland and visit a craftfair/Heritage Day! This looks like a day in heaven!
Love to see the young ones involved in keeping the culture alive. Is beag Gaeilge a labhraím ach níl Gaeilge agam fós.
I would love to go!
My two fav Irish content creators in one vid! Awesome
I wish I had your energy. Cool stuff.
This is just too wonderful! I would be in hog heaven there, that's for sure. Bring us more!
You know, I've been looking for a trip to take after I graduate college in the Spring of next year. Maybe I'll pop over to Ireland for the craft fair!
Garron crossing over your channel made my day!!
Oh man I heard Ballina and was typing “you could have said hi to Garron. He’s delicious!).
Looks like an incredible time! What I wouldn’t give to be there instead of an office. Maybe next year.
If the weather is dry its well worth the visit. July 10th, Chuck It in the Calendar.
Hi Eoin how do you pronounce your name please. Cracking creator, keep it up
@@pbhd8I was curious this before so I googled it and according to that its pronounced like Owen, and in 1 or 2 references Ian
Holy shit! Garron and Eoin together in one video. Ireland feels small as Newfoundland!
That was a massive chunk of lad and that chair didnt give so much as a creak in protest! That is some solid workmanship.
It's Garron!

Some years ago I was lucky enough to get a few days liberty in Ireland. Some of the best liberty I enjoyed. Fantastic people.
This is incredible ❤ I love this
The finest craftsmanship was in the form of the pint of the black stuff at the end.
Lol love the last shot cheers Eoin 🍻
Cheers glen. That one was on you

I love to go and be apart of it some day I'm actually starting to learn wood working and leather working slowly but surely
I only ever spent 6 months in Ireland but you make me feel something like homesick, Fernweh I suppose
Good to see Willie Creighton still going strong … one decent man … fellow woodturner 👍🏻

Looks like a lot of fun any local wine makers? I got 3 gallons of rhubarb whine brewing right now;)
none that i know of. where are you based?
Great day and video.
Eoin do You make workshops with someone who have an interest in woodwork?

Id happily do an exchange for some Southern hemisphere products if anyone would be interested in an exchange?

Left over grammar structure from Irish language.

I wanna go so bad where is this?
Hi Eoin , who’s the man making the axes?
Iv got log of bog oak tree wood about 2 foot long 10 inches around
Man Id go bankrupt there.
Meatloaf sat down so gently on your stole. Not even a squeak out of it.
you sound a lot like my maths teacher, I think he was from a place called county cork?
that's where Eoin is from. The rebel county
Garron!
Does the well known TH-cam Influencer and SuperStar of Ballina Garron frequent the festival ?
The poor dog though 😢

Fun fun…. But Eoin…. Lay off the caffeine when you do filming next…. Looked like the film was on double speed..😉
Cobber your getting shafted on facebook, there's loke 3 or 4 profiles stealing your content.
