    Rooty, rocky, and rutty. The three R's of BAness. Wouldn't wish them upon my worst enemy. You are killing it. Love the videos! Making an evening of alchohol and cigarettes...sounds amazing!

    Beautiful scenery. I've been to Carlsbad Caverns and Cloudcroft, NM. I too was amazed at how much forest there was. Looked like you did a back flip on your bike...lol. I thought you took a tumble for a second there when you were doing the no hands thing...lol.

      So much more to explore in New Mexico. Thanks for watching.

    I've enjoyed most of your other cycling trips, but I think that this has been my favorite so far. Keep them coming!

    Maybe those were our tire tracks? We entered NM in August of 2022 and as soon as it did it rained all day. The roads were impassable and we pushed along the edge for many miles. Great video!

      I think I was there late August, may have been you. NM are the toughest roads.

    So many more trees, that's because folks don't realize northern NM is at elevation and there's plenty of trees there. Wait until you drop out of the mountains, you'll soon see why folks skip the state. I love all of NM, but the northern part is the best part.

      Yeah, I hear ya. Carson was great, awesome countryside to ride thru.

      I hear it is great for meth labs...(Breaking Bad joke). Flat, hot, and boring desert in the southern area it looks. Really, even the Divide race can't paint it too pretty-just a place to finish and Bail(!).

    I just wanted to say Awesome Job!! I've been loving the videos I raced the Tour Divide in 2022 and I took some pictures but not many videos on my phone Your videos have reminded me how much fun it really was, aside from the weather we had this year.. congrats!!

      Such a fun ride, I feel like riding hard and doing big days out there, is kind of what the route is about. I seemed to struggle with taking it as a slower trip, I couldn't wait to get to the next gnarly downhill, and go much faster than I probably should have been going. I heard about the weather you guys had last year, much worse than my experience. Awesome comment.

    Watching your old GDMBR videos as the New Mexico section is on our agenda for next year. Being fro. Canada I understand wearing a touque for warmth when it is cold, but mid video on you are wearing it when it is warm (short sleeve jersey & shorts). Is it to keep the sound of wind out of your ears? Wind noise bugs me in high winds or on highways with the traffic passing.

    Doing great I have to say. The cowboy camping did make me think a bit, cowboys traveled with a guardian for those hours sleeping. The bike could never alert you to any danger creeping into the camp ha, ha like a horse might. You are killing it, hope the roads improve too. Be well.

    Interested in your thoughts on the bike at this point. Any regrets with the 1x or have you found it's enough gearing?

    • @TravelingThru222
      @TravelingThru222  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel like 1x are for people who mountain bike in states that don't have mountains. I spin out at about 25 mph, and I have perfected the crouch to gain more speed. The Krampus hit 39.9 miles per hour twice on the trip. I cant really ask to go much faster than that. Also The Krampus is like riding a tractor, so if you get bogged down on a hill you're kind of stuck, you have to hit it hard and stay with the climb if you have enough gas in the tank. Some deeper climbing gears would be an improvement, I think The Krampus can handle a 2x, IDK, I may do some alterations, but I would really like to just shave weight off the bike. So final answer, more gears would be sweet, but I got the job done.

    Not sure what time of year you went, but I went through New Mexico in late August and besides the rocks, the mud was horrendous (rained multiple times a day and all night ) and ruined. My drive train ended up detouring in Abiquiu to Santa Fe. Plus I got attacked by some dogs in Canyon Plaza, so not a fan of New Mexico

    • @TravelingThru222

      New Mexico was super tough. I was there in Early September, I think. Ive run into packs of dogs before, terrifying, much rather be in Grizzly country.
