Stumpy Nubs and Mustache Mike team up for the first in a series of weekly videos featuring small projects for the regular workshop. But this isn't another show about building birdhouses and cutting boards (not that there's anything wrong with them :)- Stumpy is showing off his creative side with unique projects you will actually WANT to build!
This time it's an electronics valet- a sweet little charging station for all your gizmos where the power can flow without the tangle of wires.

this is by far the most original idea for a woodworking video ever... I love it
Good job! Probably won't build this one, but your ideas are always great. And every time I watch you I remember the days (60's) when I lived in the UP - and pretty much nobody else did!
Great video guys. Truthfully though I like the old format. Just because I do woodworking day in and day out so I like all the humor. Still fun to watch though. Keep em coming
The old format is not going away. We're still doing the longer show once a month.
Love the new intro and format. Great stuff Stumpy. Thumbs up.
The best part is the look on my wife's face when you said something about sticking two rabbits together.
They keep getting better. Keep em coming.
Thanks Dave!
Thumbs up Stumpy. Like this new format. Being a weekend woodworker myself these sort of projects are perfect. Keep them coming.
Love the new look. Really high quality. Have to say though, I love seeing all of those hand planes and such from the old format.
The Old Timey Workshop videos are still going to be once a month, so you'll see plenty of the old tools!
This format is fantastic! Very good production, prefect length, good coverage of the actual product, and funny as usual. Great work!
Very nice. Love the humor.
I love the idea of seeing a Stumpy show that is actually about building things. Also, love the shorter nature of the video.
Would definitely appreciate a little more time on showing the build itself, and the end result.
I can't wait to see what you do next. Maybe something more advanced? You've gotta do something to justify that Sawstop!
I'm trying to find a balance between explaining the project, providing a little bit of humor, and showing the actual build. I get emails from people asking for more of one and less of the other- on all sides. It's going to take a few episodes to find a balance. But I'm working on it!
Dude can you make a kitchen knife block that sits in the drawer no one has done one yet and I would like to see how you would do it really enjoy watching your vids keep them coming
Interesting new style. Looking forward to more videos and projects. Thanks for sharing.
Love the new ideas and what your take will be, yours are some of my favorite video's on the net... the Redwings can cooler is just a bonus.
Go Wings!
Great intro, even better project. Thank you.
Great vid. I see you got a new Green screen for Christmas!
I wish it were that simple!
I love your rustic shop and I prefer the old background (no green screen). It is flat and the perspective is skew.
Great project and video. My only suggestion would be to lower the music a little, especially when you guys are speaking.
I'll work on that. Thanks!
Stumpy, I liked the video. Even though you didn't say it, I decided to have a cold one because I felt I earned it.
More old timey woodworking vids. Please!!!
We are starting a new schedule for 2014- a LOT more Old Timey Workshop episodes are coming soon!
Looks like I'm not be only one using clamps from Harbor Freight.
Great stuff guys....
I like the old format better
The old format is not going away- this series is IN ADDITION to the old one, not replacing it.
Go Flyers, nice video Stumpy I have one cell phone to plug in don't need a box for it.
I only have one phone too- but I have half a dozen accessories for it!
I like the newer format with commentary. Cool, but still gets the project shown.
I like! neat stuff with the green screen..at first i was like why? but after watching the vid i think its great. Did u get a new camera too? Quality seems to have gone up.
Great content and look forward to your next vid
We've been investing in a lot of new stuff from cameras to lighting to software. But mostly we're just finally learning how to make videos.
moustache mikes wife keeps her tablet in theirs, my misses just keeps her pill in the bedside drawer, oh come on ( ; - 0 }
Been a fan since prior to episode 1. (back in the days of LJ's) Doing great! Comments on the new format... Tone down the background music, spend more time on the build. Don't change anything else.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see what I can do!
New intro looks great, bit heavy on the jibber-jabber for my tastes and light on woodworking.

I have nothing to plug in. Do I still need one of these?
Nope.
I think you showed 3 seconds of the final product and only briefly mentioned one feature (velvet). Add a bit more content, but keep the fast paced, humor filled flow.

ya know, if so many of you commenters want to see wood cut, get off your butts, go to your shops and build something. and if you need your hand held while you do it, call your mama
Where can I find plans to make this?

liked the old format better, but would like to see more building and instructional talk and less non essential talk!

Stumpy Nubs More pie charts?
Otherwise all good
hahahah....Butt Joints.
You're never too old to laugh at that one!
Why the green screens background :( i no like
One of the biggest obstacles to making regular, weekly videos in a working small shop is cleaning up between videos. So, I took some photos of the clean shop, and used a green screen. It's use is limited to narration shots. There is no green screen in the actual building footage.
Funny
Looks a lot like the one Steve Ramsey did, only worse.
I didn't see Steve's, but I'm sure his was excellent. I watch him when I have a chance and have never seen one of his videos that I didn't like.
Too much talking
Nope.
Nope to the fake feel of the fake backgrounds.
Nope to the imposing music background (if you've going to up production value at least get it right).
Nope to so little emphasis on the project or technique that the whole vid is essentially just tool porn (?advertising?) and forced Stumpy-ish-ness.
Nope to that unnatural nature of the stumpy-esque diction, humor, etc. (How did you manage to be fake at being yourselves?)
Here's what it left me thinking. You got a bit of money from somewhere (maybe rockler), that might have seemed like a lot but was just enough to make a poor attempt at high quality. So you went from great homemade show to poor produced show.
Which is Not what i come to Stumpy Nubs for.
Actually, you are pretty much wrong about all your assumptions as far as money and advertising. As for the things you don't like about the show, that's fair enough. This format is for the people who want something short. We are still going to be doing the old format twice a month.
Yay! Then there's the best of both worlds.
But i'm surprised that you can whip together a new format, new modeled video graphics, better sound recording etc. without halfway to decent funding. Hope you didn't have to sell the fridge to pay for things and now be drinking luke-warm ones.
i'll be interested to see which format gets the core attention. Cause while the new one's full of nopes for me, i fear maybe not for the typical 'youtube woodworker'.
Peas.
I subscribed to learn how to repair, build or design a project. I want information not entertainment. Your videos are tedious and not all that humorous.
+Tom J. This video is two years old. You should check out our new videos for those without a sense of humor. We have worked hard to make them as dry and dull as possible.
Less time attempting comedy, more explaining. Try throwing your humor in on the fly, like the "Rabbit" joke... show the rabbet joint as you are trying to be funny.
ooooo you talk too much....
To many talks, nothing real is shown.
