Another awesome review on an awesome compact machete. This is one of my favorite purchases in some time. Nedfoss really outdid theirselves with this compact machete. Superb.
My tip, look at the edge under some magnification before and afterr chopping. D2 tends to chip microscopically when you chop with it - unless it's softer than ~58HRC. That is why I tend to shy away from D2 choppers. When chopping the edge goes from razor to saw pretty quickly, within one or two hits on hard wood. I tested 5 D2 knives recently, all of them went from gliding smoothly over the fingernail to being grippy within 5 hits max. All other steels I tested, carbon steels and stainless like 12C and 440C, did not chip out at all and after 20 chops still looked pristine at 100x magnification - the D2 all had small chips except the really soft 57HRC knife. Really hate that all choppers now seem to be 60+HRC D2.
I haven't had those issues but after hard use I send them across a honing steel and they're like razors. I do that with all my steels after use. This one caught no fingernail edge after smashing hardwood. No issues.
@DonnieBAllDay Yea... it strikes a good balance for what I need. It boiled down to The Yakuza's Revenge or the Condor burmese hunter & the condor is sweet but not quite as thick, and a lil long. The Yakuzas revenge is just nasty. Good job & big 👍.
Hey man, when I saw your preview of this blade, it "got" my attention! I got the clip point. BEEFY blade that looks like a knife, but swings and chops like a hard duty machete!!! I think they still have that 20% off tab which makes this almost a "steal"! That handle hammer (skull crusher) is an excellent bonus. This was also my last blade purchase of 2024 making it the icing on the cake, of a great knife year... GREAT REVIEW Donnie of a GREAT blade!!!
Like you have always said ...a blade doesn't have to be expensive to be a quality knife I think the Ned Foss is a better looking blade in my humble opinion 😀
I can see what you're cooking up there. Donnie, good comparison good D2 steel. Nice performance at that price. But I will still say the tops longevity, wise spending the extra money, we'll probably get you further. preliminary test look great, but I think long term testing. You will really know if that fifty five dollars will get you father
I got one after you YT short. My findings are: The Sheath Sucks! It smells like cheap bootleg leather belts. The strap is way too low and slices when the blade goes in and out. The rivet holding the strap is garbage and fragile. For $55 you are getting a good blade, but garbage sheath.

D2 is not the right steel for a machete sorry Don't mean to hurt anybody's feelings❤
@@ronfry5851 its a survival knife. D2 is great for it. Machetes in steels like 1055 dont normally come a quarter inch thick
