- Three new upcoming space games, Starminer, Era One and Warped Space all have interesting takes on the genre. Both Starminer and Era One are about empire building, whilst Warped Space sends the player focuses more on exploration and other things.

Doesn't matter what you do with a space game it's always going to look like something else, it's the nature of the beast. I personally don't see that necessarily as detrimental thing and I'm very interested to see where these games go in their development :)

Want to know what my ultimate space game would be that does not yet exist?
Imagine X4…but X4 with a few additional big features.
When you board an enemy ship and send your soldiers to capture it, this non existent game that I long to play would let you join them in clearing the deck guns blazing.
Doesn’t only apply to ships either.
Planets are land-able, have outposts and depending on location even life. Ranging from simple plants and a few docile creatures on a peaceful world to full on nightmarish hellscapes like that planet in chronicles of riddick where at night all the monsters come out to feed.
All territory in land and space would be simulated, act independent of the player and you can either play it alone as a solo person or build up an empire.
Literally..X4 with planetary landings and ship boarding / outpost raiding, it would be the perfect game.
for me it's X4 but with Elite dangerous galaxy and traveling mechanics. that is all.
What would you do in these outposts?
P.S. I forwarded your request to Cloud Imperium. They said they'll get all this into Star Citizen, but that they might have to delay for a little longer to get it in.

Soooooo many "upcoming" space games. Not that I'm not grateful for the attention to my niche video game tastes, but good lord this is a brutal wait.
Only thing what bothered me in Warped Space is are the random, floating hands in your screen. Why not placing them on the ship controls?

Should be checking out "Stellar Tactics", an isometric party based cRPG, made by one guy!
Have you heard about Ascendance on steam? A strategy game that looks at first glance like a mix of neboulus fleet command and falling frontier. Supposed to release early access this year. (Also has a donnager knockoff)

Era One gives me 1998 Stratosphere vibes. where you build a fortress module by mobule and use it for combat. I like it.
LMAO, "Warped Space" is a NMS-lite. It has the same color palette and mechanism for mining (laser in your hand), except this time you can just float in space and "mine" a ship that's probably a mile or two away from you. "Star Miner" is just legos, in space. "Era One" is the only game of the three I would consider.
Era One got my attention too but it hat to be a lot more than that we see to be something I would spend money and time on.
Right now it's just....meh.
Era One and Starminer are going to be interesting compare and contrast fodder.
Era One is more or less Starminer, but developers actually work on it, instead of thinking about branding.
Any space game that gets compared favorably to Haegemonia is a must-buy. And it's made by the Complex mod team, right? That was not only the best HW2 mod but one of the deepest mods I've ever played for any game. That's exciting.

It's very interesting how similar the ship design systems are between Era One and Starminer. Especially with them being released close to one another.
Because both is the same scam, made by former modders.
ILL Space (now Starminer) has been in development since 2015, and had two public demos, in 2020 and in 2022.

Era one is a day 1 purchase.. but man do they need to do some space scaping and lighting improvements.. its like you're in a deprivation tank..
Capital Command looks interesting too.
Just looked at the recommended specs for Era One. GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX6600 XT.

The modern space game industry is kinda flat tbh. I wunna game like hard space shipebreaker but bigger and with space mining as well as salvage

Era One seems interesting if they make the player fly his ship from inside the cockpit.
But what is that overcrowded UI people?
Way too much icons and information on screen. A little more and it would block the view of in the middle of the screen.
I really hope the UI is modular and we can turn off things or everything if we want to.
We are playing games for the good visuals too you know.

Was really excited when I was looking into Starminer... lost all interest when I looked up the Dev history and the fact they're tied with Paradox Interactive.
Warped Space just looks like a poor man's NMS...

For the last 20 years they are trying to make something new in the space game area but almost all of the devs are making the same basic games we all have seen before multiple times by now.....😧
RTS is not my favorite game genre due to the micro required to avoid really unnecessary unit losses: watching health bars and retreating damaged units that are otherwise too dumb to drop out of formation and either a) let some other unit tank hits for a awhile and return or b) return to base for repair after N% health lost.
The unsung lost game Dark Reign had the basic mechanic but game designers Have Forgotten To Code in Mortality Into Their Units since then.
All of 'em look like resausage. Only thing I want to know: Does the game have 32bit or 64bit maps?!
With that question alone you'll know if the game is a technical marble or a garbale.
Are there any games ==> 1 pilot - 1 ship.

Make a bit of money, explore, fight, make better ship.

My interest piqued with Starminer, as this is the first I’ve heard of it. My heart sank, when I heard it was being published by Paradox. What a shame, and a waste of a potentially great game. I’m not giving those DLC goblins one penny.

After looking a little into Starminer and the devs behind it, I'm honestly convinced it's a scam. They have a long history of abandoning half finished games as soon as they get the money.

Care to share more info on your sources? We are very interested, because everything you said could not be further from the truth and could be classified under "utter nonsense". This is our first game, we haven't worked on other games before, and we don't have any history of abandoning games - because we are still working on our only game. All we did was rename ILL Space to Starminer because of legal reasons.

Yes yes it was thats what happens when ESG and DEI takeover the world and we hire people to fill a quota not because they are talented such a shame as homeworld was a fantastic franchise and mow its absolutely ruined
