Travelling to Europe: -You can travel for 90 days in 180 within the Schengen Area, do not overstay -there are vingrets and toll passes that can be applied for online to cover these charges -the vehicle needs Angles Mort stickers for France. -apply for a EHIC reciprocal health care card online before you travel -lpg is widely available, take a 4 piece adaptor kit as pump nozzles differ. Make sure the connector to the vehicle is the correct size, there are two metric or imperial. -take out get you home breakdown cover -take V5, proof of insurance covering eu, in some eastern countries and Morocco 3rd party cover can be bought at the border Have fun!
Loving your videos guys 😎👍 just a heads up on RV repairs, Do Not use silicone, only use Sikaflex for your sealing / resealing jobs & repairs. Silicone goes brittle (usually in less than 12months!) & breakes while driving, Sikaflex is much stronger, flexes while driving & creates a much more waterproof seal that last 10 - 15yrs, good luck folks 😉

Absolutely loving your videos so far - keep it up! Like you we did exactly the same, me with my husband started full-time RV life in 2017 (but with a cat not two dogs lol), and we have never looked back! A lot of what you are learning with your RV is making me smile, as we went through SO much of the same. Leaks, small gaps in roads, single track roads, trees, electrical issues.... you name it! Its so refreshing to watch you both as you are showing it like it really is, even with people peering in the window at you on campsites hahaha - yep, get used to that!! (and soon you find them taking pictures of you too lol!) Enjoy every moment and feel free to message if you have any specific questions regarding Europe travel too. Like you, our RV is also Petrol/LPG conversion so also can't use the tunnel, but we tried the france/spain/portugal route a few times now and please do experience it once/twice at least before doing the (much easier) Santander route, which is what we do now for ease. France is very expensive on tolls, but the second year we went off toll through france and it was totally doable in our RV and a lot more scenic and enjoyable. Toll roads were boring, expensive and tricky for LPG due to height barriers on the service stations. Do consider an RV sat nav, it really helps for low bridges and so on, but also plot your routes on google as well for a second double check (discovered this tip when almost driving over a 3t medieval French bridge once, and having to 3 point turn an RV in a tiny French town LOL) There are so many sights you will see, so much more than you ever experience on normal package tours, enjoy every single moment. My quick tip - get an ACSI card for Europe campsites as it is a big discount over the winter period :)

I feel your pain! I also have an American Rv and can relate. The reason I am messaging you is because you mentioned that you can't start your generator. I wanted to make sure that you are aware (You probably are but just in case) that normally there is a set minimum level of fuel needed in the tank for the generator to operate. It is often set at around a quarter of the tank but it can sometimes be higher depending on the model. This is so that you cannot run out of fuel and be unable to drive away because for example you fell asleep when running the genny. I thought I'd mention it before you start trying to take the genny apart just in case. Welcome to the RV world. All the best!
Hi John, oh wow how long how you had your RV? Are you full time in it? Yes we are aware of that however looking back we were on a hill at the time so maybe the level wasn’t reading correctly because of the tilt and therefore it thought there was less than a quarter? Thank you so much ❤️

As well as the three month tour of The South of France I also did the Grand Prix at Spa in Belgium. There are definitely things you should know before taking these to Europe. Is yours a Diesel Pusher or Gas motorhome?
Oh wow I’m sure you have loads of tips and advice then! Yes we are very much go with the flow people so we need to start getting prepared for Europe! It’s a petrol engine with LPG conversion 🥰
@@ToKnowFreedom First tip...before you go to Europe you need to buy an LPG fitting adaptor kit. They have different fittings for the different countries. I only found one pump in the whole time I was in Belgium that worked with the Bayonet style fitting you probably have. 2nd tip...My motorhome is about 3.4m tall at the top of the ladder. I imagine yours is similar, LPG is readily available in France and Belgium, 70 percent of garages and especially the Motorway AIres sell it. It's never in the HGV area, always the car pumps.They normally have a canopy above with a max height of 4m or more.So you could be forgiven for thinking that you could get LPG at any of these places but in fact...for some completely unfathomable reason they often put another height restriction of o3.2m at the end of the slip road as you enter the garage that stops you getting into this area. So it isn't enough to know there's an LPG station within your fuel range. At times I've been to four LPG stations before finding I can actually get to the pump. It is a most ridiculous fact. This also applies to petrol. I always start looking when I get down to half a tank. The last tip is using your handbrake on steep inclines. In an automatic car you can practically forget your handbrake exists but not in one of these. You will find that on a steep slope, if you engage park and put the handbrake on...often it won't hold. Thats because the gearbox is under load. Instead put your foot on the brake and put it in neutral, then reapply the handbrake and then put it in park. Now let your foot off the brake and it will more than likely hold. However the MOT requirement only stipulates it being able to hold a vehicle on either 11 or 13 percent slopes, I can't remember which. You would be well served by getting yourself some chocks which can be placed under the wheels while the other one of you has your foot on the brake. I sometimes put my self levellers down when on my own but when i do I worry about them bending should the vehicle roll as the weight shifts. You really don't want to bend these in the down position. I will leave it at that. If ever you need any help in the way of advice or more than likely...contacts who will work on these specialised vehicles give me a shout. I will be glad to help if I can. And also...If you get sick of answering questions about who can drive what on what license let me know and I will give you something so you don't have to keep going over it. All the best. I reckon you handled the leaks very well,just remember even bricks and mortar leak,great work guys. As for Europe I've been to France and Belgium a few times,a small checklist. Reflective jackets (there must be one for each passenger and be kept within the cabin of the car) Warning triangle (compulsory in most countries) Headlamp beam deflectors (depending on your car, you’ll either need deflector stickers or have to adjust the beam manually) Safety helmets are compulsory for riders and passengers of motorcyclists and moped users UK car sticker (if you don’t have a GB Euro number plate, or no matter what's on you number plate when driving in Cyprus, Malta or Spain) First aid kit (compulsory in Austria, France and Germany,the fines can be expensive if you don't follow some of these. Remember guys don’t sweat the small things and the rain in Dumfries has been heavy! We had a leak too and sorted now. When the mot is due get a quick pre mot check a few weeks before to make sure there are no surprises. Mot time for van lifers. Is always stressful because it is our home as well! Hi, Guys Just remember because the leak is coming out of the speaker doesn't mean its above the speaker, it can be coming in from anywhere in the roof and depending on how level of the van is, it could be running down to the speaker and coming out, I hope not, keep up the good work loving the content.
Buy yourself a TomTom GPS / Sat Nav for RV or Lorrys enter your vehicle details and the sat Nav will take you the best routes for your vehicle, also make sure the TomTom has traffic included, it is a time saver for getting around traffic jam's and knowing where blocked routes are. I used mine everyday for work and it saves my bacon 9 times out of ten. You just have to trust it's routing and use it even if you know the route you are going.

Thank you Jacko! Michaels nose has a deviated septum from when he fought pro Muay Thai so the strip helps to open up and breathe through the nose, totally unsure where we are spending Christmas just now! Any suggestions?
That’s the only trouble with motorhomes, rv’s is you never know when the leaks and damp is going to happen, maybe get the whole roof revealed, sometimes prevention is better than cure, all the best on your travels.
@@ToKnowFreedom always remember water will always find its lowest point, you think it’s coming in from where it’s leaking but maybe it’s coming in from elsewhere, take off all the old mastic and re seal it with silkaflex 522, that’s what I did to my motorhome when I purchased it as it looked all weathered and cracked, never mind hopefully when you get to Europe you won’t get no bloody rain. Chin up peeps.

Hi, love your videos x You mention going abroad I’m guessing with your dogs, we have been thinking of doing the same and was told they need they’re vaccinations up to date and need a rabies injection which must be 21 days before you leave the country. Then once that has been done you need to get a dog passport. We are the same as you so have two dogs which works out expensive. Hope this helps x
Did you guys get a habitation report with your RV ? this certifies the condition of your vehicle for all kinds including dampness .... if you did you should go back to the dealers because that leak is a lot older than 12months .
We did not get an external report but the dealer did do a full check on the vehicle and said they were not aware of any damp. We have been in contact with them and they are willing to cover the costs of the repairs ❤️
Well done you guys, life is full of ups and downs so all experience. Europe is much easier and laid back, obviously vehicle insurance and mot need to be valid for the duration of your trip, uk road tax is required as normal, breakdown is not compulsory, and carry the V5 as some border checks require seeing it. For your dogs a valid rabies vaccination and one animal health certificate (one covers I think up to 5 animals), and your UK dog passports, normal vaccinations are not required for nearly all eu countries. When abroad, presuming that you currently have uk dog passports, you can visit a vet and purchase eu dog passports from the country you are in, then have your dogs rabies vaccinated in an eu country, this will mean that you no longer require the animal health certificate for future trips, the only criteria is to make sure their rabies vaccinations are kept up to date by an eu only vet, if you use a uk vet it then means the health certificate is required again. For returning to the uk you must visit a vet to purchase the worming tablets and have the dog passports completed, you then can arrive to the uk no later than 5 days after worming and no less than 24 hours, be sure the eu vet writes the time in as well. Regarding vehicle kit carry a warning triangle, first aid kit with certain contents (check this online), spare bulbs and hi visibility jackets, the breathalyser kit for France is now obsolete. These are your legal requirements, you will obviously decide for yourselves about tools and spares for example. It may sound somewhat awkward but its all worth it because the opportunities abroad far outweigh the uk in my opinion. Phil.

@@ToKnowFreedom Your Dogs have to be microchipped as well, so my advice would be to get that done along with the rabies vaccination and have passports issued all together the same day, and there is a compulsory 21 day wait after the rabies vaccination before you can get the health certificate and then travel. All worth it though, its mainly this initial phase, I would not go anywhere without my Dogs.
When buying any vehicle a mechanical and habitation check from a trusted expert is worth the cost and effort. That said, the big yank tank sould have some kind of warranty in place and it needs to be fit for purpose when sold. good luck with the repairs.

I did warn you !!! American RV's are basically pieces of crap with icing on top . looking forward to seeing how you cope with the slides getting stuck out !! which is a certainty . This is the reason these things are so cheap !! one tip is never park complelty dead flat . Try to park at a slight angle so the water will run off the roof and not pool !! Have to say you dealt with extremely well and did the work required so thats promising !!
We are willing to deal with these challenges for the lifestyle that this allows us to have. Even with a house you can have these types of issues ❤️ but thank you we try to stay positive as much as possible and get through it best we can! We were very grateful to have such amazing friends that were able to help us out!

Guys I tow a caravan to be fair its obviously a smaller outfit to what you guys have but as long as you read the road signs and plan your route before you leave you'll be fine if you don't plan ahead and get stuck then it's already to late plan and Google map the roads before you leave that's the best advice I can give you
The new ones are not that much better from the woes of American RV owners, shoddy work and dangerous work I think it’s down to who makes the better ones and how they are treated. I have a 2005 Motorhome it’s is in tremendous condition both inside and out and has been well looked after and only done 24,000 miles, I have done some improvements like 10” screen up front solar panels etc but some I looked at were rotten to the core and the same age and price we paid.
If your taking dogs to Europe first thing they will need is rabies injection Can no longer get pet passports in UK but when you get to France/ Germany you can get one there Have a chat to your Vet do it soon so you know everything you need to do We have Pugs that have flown several times also used Chunnel loads of times Good luck
It’s a breathe right nose strip to open up the nose and make breathing easier. Michael used to do Muay Thai and has a deviated septum as a result of getting punched in the face too many times 🤦🏽♀️
Hi our dogs now have EU passports if not they will need an animal health certificate. They need all their vaccinations up to date including rabies. Hope this helps.
None of these issues are major, no more than you would expect at that age. They no doubt got it for a good price and with a bit of elbow grease, will have the van sorted in no time. Habitation checks are for those that can't be bothered to look after their own property and are happy to hand over £225+ for that honour of it.

If you haven't already. Get a decent truck sat nav. Then you can easily avoid those height, width and weight restrictions on the European roads
We didn’t have one at the time but have been recommended to try using the TomTom app so are going to use that on our next drive!

Buy yourself a TomTom GPS / Sat Nav for RV or Lorrys enter your vehicle details and the sat Nav will take you the best routes for your vehicle, also make sure the TomTom has traffic included, it is a time saver for getting around traffic jam's and knowing where blocked routes are. I used mine everyday for work and it saves my bacon 9 times out of ten. You just have to trust it's routing and use it even if you know the route you are going.

Thank you Jacko! Michaels nose has a deviated septum from when he fought pro Muay Thai so the strip helps to open up and breathe through the nose, totally unsure where we are spending Christmas just now! Any suggestions?
That’s the only trouble with motorhomes, rv’s is you never know when the leaks and damp is going to happen, maybe get the whole roof revealed, sometimes prevention is better than cure, all the best on your travels.

@@ToKnowFreedom always remember water will always find its lowest point, you think it’s coming in from where it’s leaking but maybe it’s coming in from elsewhere, take off all the old mastic and re seal it with silkaflex 522, that’s what I did to my motorhome when I purchased it as it looked all weathered and cracked, never mind hopefully when you get to Europe you won’t get no bloody rain. Chin up peeps.

You mention going abroad I’m guessing with your dogs, we have been thinking of doing the same and was told they need they’re vaccinations up to date and need a rabies injection which must be 21 days before you leave the country. Then once that has been done you need to get a dog passport. We are the same as you so have two dogs which works out expensive. Hope this helps x
Did you guys get a habitation report with your RV ? this certifies the condition of your vehicle for all kinds including dampness .... if you did you should go back to the dealers because that leak is a lot older than 12months .
We did not get an external report but the dealer did do a full check on the vehicle and said they were not aware of any damp.
We have been in contact with them and they are willing to cover the costs of the repairs ❤️
Well done you guys, life is full of ups and downs so all experience. Europe is much easier and laid back, obviously vehicle insurance and mot need to be valid for the duration of your trip, uk road tax is required as normal, breakdown is not compulsory, and carry the V5 as some border checks require seeing it. For your dogs a valid rabies vaccination and one animal health certificate (one covers I think up to 5 animals), and your UK dog passports, normal vaccinations are not required for nearly all eu countries. When abroad, presuming that you currently have uk dog passports, you can visit a vet and purchase eu dog passports from the country you are in, then have your dogs rabies vaccinated in an eu country, this will mean that you no longer require the animal health certificate for future trips, the only criteria is to make sure their rabies vaccinations are kept up to date by an eu only vet, if you use a uk vet it then means the health certificate is required again. For returning to the uk you must visit a vet to purchase the worming tablets and have the dog passports completed, you then can arrive to the uk no later than 5 days after worming and no less than 24 hours, be sure the eu vet writes the time in as well. Regarding vehicle kit carry a warning triangle, first aid kit with certain contents (check this online), spare bulbs and hi visibility jackets, the breathalyser kit for France is now obsolete. These are your legal requirements, you will obviously decide for yourselves about tools and spares for example. It may sound somewhat awkward but its all worth it because the opportunities abroad far outweigh the uk in my opinion. Phil.

@@ToKnowFreedom Your Dogs have to be microchipped as well, so my advice would be to get that done along with the rabies vaccination and have passports issued all together the same day, and there is a compulsory 21 day wait after the rabies vaccination before you can get the health certificate and then travel. All worth it though, its mainly this initial phase, I would not go anywhere without my Dogs.
When buying any vehicle a mechanical and habitation check from a trusted expert is worth the cost and effort. That said, the big yank tank sould have some kind of warranty in place and it needs to be fit for purpose when sold. good luck with the repairs.

I did warn you !!! American RV's are basically pieces of crap with icing on top . looking forward to seeing how you cope with the slides getting stuck out !! which is a certainty . This is the reason these things are so cheap !! one tip is never park complelty dead flat . Try to park at a slight angle so the water will run off the roof and not pool !! Have to say you dealt with extremely well and did the work required so thats promising !!

Quality control is shocking and they are mainly built by non skilled labour.
We are willing to deal with these challenges for the lifestyle that this allows us to have. Even with a house you can have these types of issues ❤️ but thank you we try to stay positive as much as possible and get through it best we can! We were very grateful to have such amazing friends that were able to help us out!

Guys I tow a caravan to be fair its obviously a smaller outfit to what you guys have but as long as you read the road signs and plan your route before you leave you'll be fine if you don't plan ahead and get stuck then it's already to late plan and Google map the roads before you leave that's the best advice I can give you

Should have bought something smaller and European as the American RV build quality is poor, especially the older ones.
The new ones are not that much better from the woes of American RV owners, shoddy work and dangerous work I think it’s down to who makes the better ones and how they are treated. I have a 2005 Motorhome it’s is in tremendous condition both inside and out and has been well looked after and only done 24,000 miles, I have done some improvements like 10” screen up front solar panels etc but some I looked at were rotten to the core and the same age and price we paid.
If your taking dogs to Europe first thing they will need is rabies injection
Can no longer get pet passports in UK but when you get to France/ Germany you can get one there
Have a chat to your Vet do it soon so you know everything you need to do
We have Pugs that have flown several times also used Chunnel loads of times

It’s a breathe right nose strip to open up the nose and make breathing easier. Michael used to do Muay Thai and has a deviated septum as a result of getting punched in the face too many times 🤦🏽♀️

Hi our dogs now have EU passports if not they will need an animal health certificate. They need all their vaccinations up to date including rabies. Hope this helps.

None of these issues are major, no more than you would expect at that age. They no doubt got it for a good price and with a bit of elbow grease, will have the van sorted in no time. Habitation checks are for those that can't be bothered to look after their own property and are happy to hand over £225+ for that honour of it.
