Now thats a greta set up, i was full time, and Victron is definitely the best way forward. you are slowly getting there, its great to see, ive been watching from day 1, gave you some of my experience and i see you're listening to a lot of peoples comments, i love it. keep smiling and living the dream you 2
Good night fern and Micheal i love watching your videos on your you tube channel I hope that both of you are well and the dogs I hope that you are both enjoying your adventures in your RV please keep safe and warm please keep your you tube channel up and making me happy and smiling
I live off grid with electric heat and found a few low watt items that help. Electric blankets very low consumption. Maybe 1 of your batteries over 30 hours. Heat pads the lowest watt item, put in the foot end of the bed 1hr prior to climbing in. Rug buddy under rug heaters (120v/220v order the right one), 60w to 500w, using a 170w rug heater under my enclosed trailer, -6c 12c below, and 13c inside if I only use the one heater. A 60x 200mm is 170w 120v, great option for a narrow path for 4.5kwh or 16hrs. I think the 220v was 190w. Since you are new to having some battery storage here is what it all uses, a 1500w heater, coffee maker, air fryer, MWave, 6gal rv hw tank, will last 2 hours, your fridge was pulling 75w 48hrs with the door open, lights 3 to 10 days. If you get a sponsor for a portable power station that helps build your power storage.
Such a useful comment thank you! We need to get a lower kW air fryer as it drains our batteries too quickly! We do have a portable power station from all powers which we love!
@ToKnowFreedom I haven't seen sun since the my last video so when I use the gen 5 kw to charger and use 2kw for heat, air fryer can use 1 kw every 40 minutes. Same for people who use a lot of gen charge, they have a 6kw Gen only 1 kw to charge, 5kw left do a load of laundry on Gen same time. If you get extra cash to upgrade, fogstar 12v 608A is a 7kw battery. Oh yeah I would get that blanket for sure.
great to catch up with what you've been up to and love the Victron upgrade. The Multiplus is a complete game changer and the mod you have on your Cerbo looked awesome too. The camera quality from the Pocket 3 and the audio from the Mic2's is wicked so lots of quality purchases. Safe travels and looking forward to the next instalment
Hi guys it’s jacko That is a really great set up good on you. Michael had so much enthusiastic when he’s speaking he’s proper buzzing 😂. I love watching your blogs keep them coming. Jacko ❤
Thank you Jacko great to see you ❤️ and yeh we both could hardly contain the excitement, you appreciate things more when you don’t have them for a while 😂
Hey Peter, we went to ABM in Weymouth - highly recommend they are very knowledgable and do such a professional job! If you contact them let them know we sent you 😍
hi you two as nice to see you both back and living the dream as in the uk you will find not a lot off road parks to camp but you be ok for a while depending were you go in uk as michael dont stress out as all will be ok as fern does know she on about cant wait for the next 1
Another note, get yourself a low voltage toaster, you get them on line or from all good camping shops, its a game changer for your toast. you can also get a low voltage kettle if required, hope this helps
@@ToKnowFreedom Those 12V appliances are slow, if you want to wait the whole morning for them to do their thing get them by all means. Otherwise don't bother. You have so much battery power, an 800W toaster won't draw too much power from the inverter. As far as the kettle is concerned just use the hob kettle, that's what the gas is for. Cooking takes so little gas anyway. You might want to get a 12V adapter for the laptop. It's more economical then using the inverter to convert from 12V to 230V then use the laptops adapter to down convert to 19V.
We use a small toaster when on shore power and use the gas grill when off grid. Loving the vids, looking forward to your Europe trip. Living the life guys.
@@ToKnowFreedom Unfortunately no big trips this year, couple of weekends visiting friends in Somerset close to Christmas, but a couple of Europe visits planned for next year. Enjoy your journey's, I'm looking forward to seeing you out there. Safe travels.
@ToKnowFreedom I ran it on hook up but if you get a low voltage toaster and kettle with the system you have invested in omg what a set up running a toaster and electric kettle off grid not a problem guys
we have a Victron system in our motorhome - 640Ah of LiFePo4 batteries and the Multiplus 12/3000 and we have a domestic Dualit toaster which the setup allows easy use and works better than the low wattage camping toasters. We also have a Ridgemonkey type pan which we use for toasted sandwiches that I'd highly recommend
I make toast in the frying pan - melt butter first the bread on top until toasted one side. Simply flip and toast the other side. Doesn't need butter when ready! 😂
on the subject of toast, the air fryer is probably the best for your new power system, toaster uses lots of power even a low watt one, we also have a toasted sandwich maker thing that's like a clamp that goes on a gas hob lol, its very good. you can also get different gadgets for the air fryer or i use these toast bags.
ya the low watt gear isnt great its low on watts but takes 5 times longer so works out the same, we got a low watt kettle and toaster and got rid of them, they would train my ecoflow 2kw power station
Not sure what sort of hob you have, but my gas stove i use a ridgemonkey toastie maker, I'd look it up to make sure it's fine to use on whatever hob you have though
Great to catch up with you. I’m glad to see you’ve got your electrics sorted out to complicated for me to understand but it looks very good. Can’t wait to see your journeys in Europe. I watch a lot of other motorhome people and they all say the same. This country isn’t really motorhome friendly. 👍👍👍
Good upgrade there guys but I have one issue with it. You have 3 100ah battery's, why so small batteries I have 1 battery and it's 300ah. If I did your upgrade I would have got a 640ah battery again it's one battery.
Hi, it depends on the maximum current you can pull from the BMS in the respective batteries; these batteries are capable of a 200 amp max charge / discharge EACH (therefore a total of 600amp total discharge current); a 3KVa inverter like the one fitted can draw a peak current of in excess of 350 amps, so one battery with a 200 amp discharge wouldn't suffice 👍
@@abmvettes ah ok thx for the clarity, the way the guys explained it I thought the batteries were far to small for the motorhome, awesome build thx again
You wasted so much money £1800 for 300ah is mental. You could have got the new fogstar 600ah for less. £6k for a very basic set up is a complete rip off. Your solar price was disgusting. Those panels at city plumbing are £50 a panel max. And 1500w for 300ah of battery is way overkill
OK, firstly you don't appear to have any knowledge of fitting solar to American RVs - the panels need to be fitted either side of air con units, vents etc; this means the panels can't be any wider than 700mm The City Plumbing panels won't fit (they are too wide) - you could probably only get 2 on there. And the City Plumbing panels are not Victron panels Also, Fogstar does not fully communicate with the Victron VE BMS system
Guys just giving you a heads up when you go to france make sure you register your van for the crit air otherwise if you go into the mayor cities with out it you will get a big fine you can register online before you go and the send you a sticker for your windscreen it's like a fiver once it's registered it's done for life

It’s a 2005 😊

Any toaster will work with your set up …but you can get low wattage ones
Yeh forgetting now we have a set up that will actually run it, but maybe the low wattage is still best
All those blue boxes when you could have had a Clayton system.
be nice for a hour long vid
Really! Thought you’d be fed up seeing us after 20 😂
Now that you've got loads of spare power you might as well do as much cooking as you can with electric, get return on your investment.
Definitely, our main reason is we need it for work so it really helps 😁
10 panels seems abit overkill
