This man was a genius in the music world and should be remembered for that and not his personal demons. He exemplified the black singer songwriter experimentalist of his day and later fell into overproduced underwritten pop culture trap. Prince was very much a understudy of Ricks music intertwined with Donnie Hathaway style phrasing. Rick wasn't some joke that is only spoken of in jest of drugs or a comedic skit, he was a brilliant musician fighting substance abuse habits that got the better of him.
