Oh the joy of that dress up hat!! For those of us who have been stitching and finding things to use for years you are like a breath of fresh air with your excitement and love of fabrics and threads and buttons. You make me look at my own stash with fresh eyes and new found joy. Love that you got that wonderful bargain at the op shop. These days items can be so expensive!!
Kate, the piece of rust coloured velvet (you called in velour when unpacking the kit) is actually a very special type of velvet called ‘paper velvet’ I bought it when I lived in England and it has an amazing history. The factory which was in the north of England closed down for WW1 and never reopened 😢 so what is left in the world is all there is. It’s over 100 years old! I bought some in various colours from an antique dealer over there. It can be hard to stitch through and that piece might have been stiffened because I made a crown of leaves using that colour. I passed on some of it to Zoe to put in kits. And now it’s ended up with you! ❤😊

Hi Kate, you got me back in to crochet so I’ve been doing that and not a lot of slow stitching. I have crocheted 3 lovely bowls which I really love. Hope you’re doing well. I had a few lessons with Jennifer Clouston which I really loved but is a bit of a drive from my place. Love the things you got from the oppies. I’ve also had some good hauls myself. I must start my own channel, will need a name change and work out how to do it. 🦋🐝🌸

mine is more traditional and "tidy" as it were, but yours works, and I think it has to do with the mass of cheerful colours you use...not my colours, but some how, they are just captivating to watch, and all works together! ...your colour pallet even inspired me to look for some thrifty finds in the hot pinks, oranges and yellows for future ideas!

I had chemo years back and no hair. Lots of ladies wore ball caps. Breast cancer is terrible for self image and my friend would buy me earrings to help me feel feminine but I think there would be some ladies that would be overjoyed to have a ball cap in your special style. Remember the bald head is so tender and anything seems to scratch it so when doing the inside, use the softest of whatever you have and a natural fabric. You are so inspirational!

@@kateinthenest We have a store called WalMart here in Texas where ladies buy the baseball type caps for ladies. The American Cancer Society has a booklet to consider diifferent styles to think about purchasing. I will check and send more info.
I don’t want to send you down another rabbit hole BUT….. a big fluffy flower made out of the tulle with a shiny button or brooch as the centre would look fantabulous on one of your crochet bags. Just saying 🫢
