Jim, I like your idea for supporting logs you are going to resaw. I’ve had a Delta 14” bandsaw for several years, I often considered adding a riser block but never did.
Recently another Delta 14” bandsaw was for sale near where I live. I ended up buying that bandsaw and going through a complete inspection/replacement of some needed parts to include adding a riser block setup. I’ve been racking my brain on how I should support the logs I want to resaw. You method looks like it will work for me.

YOUR SAW CUTS WELL. I BOUGHT A HEAVY SPRING FOR MY DELTA 14 SAW, SPRING IS YELLOW. PS, NEW SUBSCRIBER‼️‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸

With the extra spring tension you have on your elevation screw did you add the bearing cup between the elevation screw and the frame of your saw it makes it much easier to crank it up and it also stops the screw from walking around on the frame and bending your elevation rod. Jim.

Ronald Haynes. I got your question from the comment box and I would like you to email me at Jimsfixitshop@gmail.com I went and purchased a dozen bearing assemblies and I'm going to make the cups to hold them so they can be mounted on these old delta bandsaw us if you are interested in one I'll make sure you get one at cost. Thanks Jim

Thanks for sharing! I really like your log sled. I got a great deal on the same saw with riser block. Just curious, are you using the stock steel guides or something else? Also wondering what horsepower motor you’re using. Thanks again!

Yes, I’m using the standard guides and it has a one horse motor on it but I did design and make a bearing that goes underneath the elevation screw that really helps Jim

I noticed your saw has been cutting extremely well. I guess it would be a skip-tooth type. What blade are you using? Width, tooth style, and brand appreciated. I guess it would be a skip-tooth type.
Also, can you specify the bearing used? Thanks!
I have the same type of Delta saw, but mine has a gearbox intended to also cut metal. I have a Delta riser kit, but never installed it. Now I am (just now) setting my saw up in a new location. I see logs all over the place that I had to pass up because I had no way to process them.

I get my bandsaw blades from a local tool supply house it's where we buy our drills and taps reamers nuts and bolts just typical supplies for the shop where I work and I found out they make bandsaw blades so I order them from them but the area you live in you should have such a supply place that you could order from and if you can pick them up locally you won't have all the handling and shipping charges if you can't find them locally let me know and I'll see what I can do thanks Jim

      Hi it's Jim
And I think I owe you a huge apology, because of a Nother viewers question I found your original question on my bandsaw you asked about the bearing, are you talking about the bearing assembly that I put on my elevation screw on the backside of my bandsaw, if so tomorrow after work I am going to stop and order a dozen of these bearings sets and I'm going to make the cups that they fit into on the saw if you were interested in one I will make sure I get it to you. Again I apologize for my oversight and I will talk to you soon. Jim. Contact me through Jimsfixitshop@Gmail.com
