I race dirt track at North brisbane we come into the corner with the no braking slow down all with loss of traction hold the throttle pinned all the way through the corner and around the midpoint of the corner bring your leg up onto the foot peg and hold flat over the mid point of the bike sitting on the seat hold through the bumps and start to lean over the back of the bike down the straight
is that on a standard motocross bike?.. also i suspect the turns are wider and smoother with a bit of a bank to it... things are different on a motocross track
yeah, standard motocross bike we just wind down the rebound a little bit on the rear, one corner is quite wide but the other is tight and they no banks we dont use the steering to steer the bike we use the rear end to bring the bike around. if the quads have been out before us the track gets ripped up and rutted but you just drop the rear into a rut and pin it.
@dabrowskiii you can still brake with your right foot, just you will have to stick your leg out slightly late. trust me it wont make much of a difference :)
@MOOSERVERTE Personally, when I practice, I practice both feet having the same delay. That way I don't need to make any changes and it doesn't feel awkward in those right handers.
@trivanovicrobert Stand up. Do your braking a little earlier, stand up to absorb the bumps all throughout the corner, grip the bike with your legs and look ahead to avoid getting cross rutted and stay smooth on the throttle. Practice practice practice. Hope that helps.
I'd say to use the power of your bike :) That's coming from a non racer. I have a massive sweeper at my home track and I use the power band, lean back a little and just do what you can to get the tail out!
okay ive got a question. on flat corners. im always timid because it feels like the back tire will just completely slip out from under me. any tips on how to become less timid on that.
only way to do that is hit the brakes as hard as possible with out locking up to much and just bravely through it into the corner. thats the best ive come up with
Get 85% of your braking done before the corner so you can start to roll on the throttle coming into the apex. Watch some practice footage of Kailub Russell when you get the chance. If you study him, you will see how he sets up his approach for the corner further back than the average rider, flows into it, and exits strong while looking and thinking on how to approach the next corner. All of the guys points are illustrated perfectly with how he rides.
Do you actually lean to an opposite direction of a turn on a dirtbike unlike a sportbike? Do you lean to the opposite direction of the turn to cause sliding? What would happen if you lean to the same side you are turning to, like you would do on a sportbike? Check out the "supermoto no limits" video on youtube. Riders slide rear tire while leaning in a turn, why can't the same teqnique be used on dirt? I've only ridden street so i am curious.
+pr0r1der - It's to do with the tires contact patch (and the relative grip from the surface you're riding on - roads are solid, MX tracks are often loose sand/dirt), on road slick tires you have grip right around the tire, on MX tires you don't, so weighting the outside foot peg/leaning on the opposite side of the bike allows the contact patch to stay more 'central'.
Yeah right on flat corner suck that ain't no fun,I alway tell my friends give me five minutes and I make u a track, flat corners arrrgh....wrong dirt....
The best riding tips i've found on you tube thanks for the help and keep em coming
You still ride?
i ride enduro and all of these MXTV videos espescially the hill climbing tips have helped a lot thanks for uploading !
Lots of help, thank you, I struggle with keeping up my speed in corners that are flat.
such a good clip mate! gives the details that others just don't.
I have trouble in flat corners and that video helped me a lot THANKS ALOT

I really want to experience that !
when in doubt throttle out :)
Cheers!
awesome video! thanks!

would you do the same approach for u-turns?
@MOOSERVERTE Personally, when I practice, I practice both feet having the same delay. That way I don't need to make any changes and it doesn't feel awkward in those right handers.
@dabrowskiii It's the exact same thing as left turns, practice doing right handed turns to get your balance down. Soon it will be just as easy.
@AwesomeGamerGuy247 depends what the situation calls for, if you stand up, you have more reaction and controll.
Thanks Lee helped alot
do you have a video about standing up in sweepers?
You still ride?
What if its really rutted and breaking bumps go through the same thing? and theres like holes in it almost...
@trivanovicrobert Stand up. Do your braking a little earlier, stand up to absorb the bumps all throughout the corner, grip the bike with your legs and look ahead to avoid getting cross rutted and stay smooth on the throttle. Practice practice practice. Hope that helps.
@dabrowskiii Just try to brake a little more and earlier. Then flow through the corner
I'd say to use the power of your bike :) That's coming from a non racer. I have a massive sweeper at my home track and I use the power band, lean back a little and just do what you can to get the tail out!
also i think with 2t will be more difficult to accelerate like that after the brakes..
very nice instructional video. thanks.
what if the track is really dry and it has alot Of marbles throughout the turn?
Alright found you was subscribed under jokers racing. Couldn’t remember had a brain fart
You talk about corners about braking my question is do you pull the clutch in at any point.
michael libbee when you brake or else you'll stall it
If you aren't that familiar with the bike you should spend more time cruising easy before you get into heavy practice
I do a lot of trail riding and desert so I'm mixing it up just want to get better and faster
Use your hand
You still ride?
very helpful!
thanks, not repetative and annoying like other "how to" videos ive watched
haha
@dabrowskiii he doesnt neccesarily say you need your back break, all about speed and throttle control and body position
okay ive got a question. on flat corners. im always timid because it feels like the back tire will just completely slip out from under me. any tips on how to become less timid on that.
let it slip.
Good info.
thanks ill try it

Ime trying to go hih off jump
Its weird they never mention counter steering to break in the corner.
back break untill u put ur foot out.. then
its up to front break and body position
what if it is a right turn and you can't put your foot down?

+Neil G Got it. Thank you very much for the reply!
It depends on how worn down your tire is.
@@Sabian- You still ride?
@@bunnyman6321 Nah, not anymore :/
What's this guy's name?
Could some one give me some tips for not getting scared going into the corners and big jumps please?

Ride a lot. Practice a lot. Then ride some more. Your confidence will build.
every rider came to this before. just ride watch friends and know your bike its all about knowing your limit and bike practice is key.
Just send it 👊✊
Dont try this at home folks! (Unless you have grippy tires) :D
