    good to see someone showing the finer points like where to gauge from on a brick veneer here in Australia, Brickies on big union jobs are clueless with this stuff. liked the water level method too.

      Why would you need a water level when you can just measure down from the top-plate?

    Nice one Hendo keep em' coming. Interesting use of the water level though, haven't seen one of those used for many a year. Could I ask, when you set the gauge for your first profile off the window, have you figured out if it is the highest point on the slab? I only ask as this would save on cutting if that was the case, no?

    • @hendosbricklaying2003
      @hendosbricklaying2003  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankyou mate appreciate the words. Yes I do usually measure the corner points of the rebate to see what is hightest point to the bottom
      Plate. I forgot to mention that... you picked up on it well. Nothing worse then getting to a high point that requires a heap of split cuts.

    Is the gauge rod hard up against the fascia so bricks can finish flush, and is the timber under the fascia purely for the purposes of clamping?
    Also mate, what do you mean by the 10mm gap works in well with the slab?

  • @craighughescraig6096
    @craighughescraig6096 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Surely the L shape cramps you nail to the stud wall , will be in your cavity?

    • @hendosbricklaying2003
      @hendosbricklaying2003  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So once we are up to the L bracket height we put in some perp clamps into the brickwork that then takes its place to hold the profile 👍

  • @ianhoward4246
    @ianhoward4246 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happens when the timber isn't plumb, measure 150 or keep wall plumb???

    • @hendosbricklaying2003
      @hendosbricklaying2003  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a minimum cavity regulation of 25mm so depending on whether the frame is out of plumb which should rarely happen once inspected we just try to keep our brickwork as close to 150mm off frame (40mm cavity) as best we can. Obviously our wall plumb takes priority
