Thank you for explaining very nicely at first i don't understand why anyone would think literary fiction is boring I only find human experience their lives story's intresting
i’ve been wanting to get more into literary fiction and i’ve seen so many people talk about “talking at night” it sound like something i would love so will definitely give it a try
I just read ‘four seasons in Japan’ by Nick Bradley and I’m not sure if it’s specifically lit fic but the realism of human experience in that book blew my mind and now I’m obsessed with lit fic, thanks for the recommendations!
I LOVEEEE 'I WHO HAVE NEVER KNOWN MEN' !!! definitely my best read last year. even the audiobook is immaculate. it felt like i was there with her. felt so alone it was crazy.
nooooo because i’m obsessed with you ! just subscribed. this specific type of lit fic is my fav. everyone needs to read i who have never known men !!!!! just read it.
I just found your channel today and I have been binging your videos! It’s so refreshing to find a booktuber with my exact taste in literature, I feel like they’re few and far between atm😅
I read a lot of literary/general fiction and have heard of some of these authors, but I've never read any of these books. I'm going to add them to my ever-growing list of books to keep an eye out for at the bookshop. :)
Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran and Body Friend by Katherine Brabon are my current fave aussie lit fic picks! brb going to the city of melbourne libraries app to place a hold on an exciting and vivid inner life
I was so suprised to see that a book by Jaqueline harpman was popular now. It made me want to re read it. I read it for school ( I am Belgian and I didn’t know she was known outside of Belgium 😊)
LOVE this list, so many of my faves are included. I feel so seen by all these weird vibes book recommendations - let’s just say my work book club cannot relate lol
I LOVE My Year of Rest and Relaxation because it evokes a different response from everyone and makes for a great conversation starter tbh. The book also feels different depending on how we are feeling. I read it when I was in a lost place mentally and the words were speaking out to me. I was glad to hear my thoughts spoken by another person who feels the same. And then halfway through the book I was in a really good mood after two months (I felt like I was the one sleeping away for a year and I was tired) and then the main character sounded insufferable, irritating, I wanted to ask her to stop it 😂 And I went ahead and got paperbacks to give everyone I knew and every single person had a different response and I love it! Another suuuuuuper controversial book I loved is A Little Life, I was expecting to cry in the end, or sob throughout, none of that happened with me, I was awed at the writing, the friendships, the relationships, the pain, the happiness, all of it. I do agree the trauma was a bit too much, but it’s not the trauma I was focused on, I moved on from that real fast, it was living life after that, no matter how difficult.
For fiction and romance which we all need for sure, I recommend Romantic Summer Mystery, by Octavia Blake. Easy read and full of romance mystery and surprises. Great book.
If your library does not have any of these and you buy them and they are not for you then give them to a free little library in your area! They have an app where you can find them 🙂
I think I would love this , because I love when books talk about the experience of human and human condition and yh I love when book give me pain , so I will read one of this and tell you
❤📚❤️ I like literary fiction. A few of these are on my want to read list. I loved The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. On the lighter side, The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams.
Not all literary fiction is style.mood.interior. Some are magnificently plot.theme driven. Examples ... James Clavell, Herman Wouk, William Styron. In the 19th century, all literary fiction was plot.theme and I don't even need to list!
I just read I who have never known men. Not good and definitely not good as an introduction to literary fiction. Cleopatra and Frankenstein is 20 million times better.
I loved Cleopatra and Frankenstein, my favourite book of 2022! The characters are so polarising though so I'm always hesitant to recommend it to new litfic readers haha
You speak like a story teller , I love it
this is so nice omg thank you
You have the perfect voice for audiobooks I swear
thank you so much!

This is probably the best description of this style of books, I've been struggling with explaining what I read for ages :D
tender is the flesh made me fall in love with reading again
you describe them so well, now I want to read them all
do it! you won't regret
So many great suggestions to add to my TBR. Also thank you for your explanation of litfic, now I have a less meandering way of explaining it haha
You just convinced me to read All's Well!❣
I just read ‘four seasons in Japan’ by Nick Bradley and I’m not sure if it’s specifically lit fic but the realism of human experience in that book blew my mind and now I’m obsessed with lit fic, thanks for the recommendations!
i'll have to check it out!
I LOVEEEE 'I WHO HAVE NEVER KNOWN MEN' !!!

Yessss! We love Aussie authors in this house. I saw Shankari speak at an Ultimo Press event recently and now desperately need to read Chai Time
I really want to read talking at night! It’s not at my library or on my Libby though, may have to purchase this one!🍜

omg welcome! thank you
I didn’t know what this was but Amy Tan is my favourite author and I’m realizing that she writes literary fiction. So I guess I’m a fan! Lol
yay!! welcome to the club
I was so suprised to see that a book by Jaqueline harpman was popular now. It made me want to re read it. I read it for school ( I am Belgian and I didn’t know she was known outside of Belgium 😊)

Ok, no idea I love a category of books 🧐 I loved tender is the flesh and I who have never known men, so I am going to pick up your recs! 🥰😍
Lady, you are a vibe and I adore it 😍

❤📚❤️ I like literary fiction. A few of these are on my want to read list.
I loved The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. On the lighter side, The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams.
Gone Girl is literary fiction
No one can change my mind.
Love this, thank you.
The psychology of totalitarianism by Mattias Desmet is a really good book and it's not a long book either.
Just ordered An Exciting and vidid inner life at my library!
Yay! Come back and tell me what you think
I’m trying to discover what your accent is and literally love how you describe books I want to read them all know
I am just reading Tender is the flesh and its crazyy 😅

You should totally read Guadalupe Nettel!
I love this video but Bunny by Mona Awad is so much better for me than All’s Well. 🥺
Sebastian Faulkes is a good writer for this genre
Is Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow a literary fiction?
I am a modern snob because I am sorta apologetic about it
so many people have commented it already but i love your voice
What lippie are you wearing?
Basically a load of dumbed down girly romance novels
Your voice ❤
La Biblia es util en este tiempo?
I just read I who have never known men. Not good and definitely not good as an introduction to literary fiction. Cleopatra and Frankenstein is 20 million times better.

What's literary about tender is the flesh? such a vile, badly written book.
