  • If you are replacing your ball joints without removing the control arms I show an easy way to remove rivets without a torch or air hammer, on the drive way.

Thank you very much for showing that technique w/bearing puller! I spent today like 2 hours, banging on the rivets w/\punch and a heavy hammer and only one of 3 showered some tiny split around the circumference of the rivet. I have that tool and try tomorrow. In one film the author just hammered w/a punch on the body of the rivet (after cutting the tops), and they easily came out. Probably it depends on the car. Thanks a lot again.

I removed the rivets and increased the holes to 1/2" to fit new ball joint bolts. But the question I can't find anywhere: what torque specifications do you apply on those 3 bolt, attaching the Ball Joint to the Control Arm? In Haynes Manual it says should be an instruction sheet in a new set, but mine doesn't have one. From Internet it looks like 10-12 or 12-14 Ft-lbs, but in one film he applied 50 Ft-lbs, though on a truck. Pls could you give your opinion what torque specification it can be? I did a lot of research on Internet, nothing on that question.

Bolted ball joints are better for removing the CV axle it needed you can lose the ball joint bolts instead of damaging the ball joint by trying to break it loose
