I agree that it is cool that he has turned out to be talented like his dad. But at the same time, I guarantee he still gets that mad respect from fellow skaters the second they find out that he is the son of the great Tony Hawk. It's just a bonus that he can back that name up with some great skills.

My favorite thing about this is how many times he falls then gets back up again, no matter how many times he gets hurt, until he gets the move right. That’s what it takes to be good at skating, or anything really.

It's surprising that this guy actually worked pretty hard to get as good at skating as he is. Most people wouldn't really bother having Tony Hawk for a dad. They'd just get their way in the industry because of who's nuts they used to swim in.

honestly love seeing him miss five times before making a trick, shows how dedicated and focused he is trying to land difficult tricks.
I like that you still show all the failed attempts of each trick instead of removing them for a perfect reel. Way I see it, the more footage you have of all the failed attempts leading up to the successful trick, the more of a badass you are. Shows how difficult it really is, shows how persistent you are, and shows that you are confident enough to let everybody see your mistakes. Right on, man.
I went to high school with Riley and we had skate pe class. This was my first year learning to skate at a park. And while I’m learning to drop in, Riley is over their doing fakie hardflips to drop in.

However, your suggestion of a Skate 4, with Skate 3 dynamics (i.e Hardcore Mode or realistic mode with flick it controls) and the Tony Hawk name to get Sales with the Kids/non-skaters might work! Nobody wants those games anymore. That's why they stopped making them. With each issue they put out, the sales dropped lower and lower each time. Game trends come and go.
I bet Tony is super happy and proud at the fact his son took on the same hobby that made his career. Some kids do the complete opposite of what their parents do because they don’t want to be like them. Riley seems like his dad is idol like he should be.
As one who has always had an interest in skate boarding but never the confidence to try it myself I have nothing but respect the guy like this who can look around where ever they are and see a skate park.. and have the skills to throw down and conquer each challenge!

I'm 38. Just started this week. Being old as dirt, I've learned a lot in my life. I don't think anything has been this hard.
Can't even Ollie yet (God I've tried though) but I did do a fakie 180 kick turn coming rolling back off a ramp the other day. After I hit it on my 8th try or so, I understood why this sport/art is do rewarding.
I really admire him for that one rail where he lands it a few times but refuses to walk away until he sticks a clean landing and skated away

I lived and skated for a half a year in California. To me it seemed that the entire state was a skatepark. And Riley shows me what can be done. What a legend.
One of my favorite parts of this video is at 3:55. The family walking by in the background and the kid in the blue shirt's jaw just drops. Totally created a core memory for that kid. Riley is the man. Killer skater who paved his own way and didn't rest on the reputation of his father.
