Always how it goes in DnD 'Guys you have this objective, killing everything isn't part of that' Players: kill everything so it can't mess with our objective, got it
Mark at the beginning of the episode "Killing the demons should not be your priority, the tower is your goal" The party: proceeds to spend all their turns attacking every single enemy on the battlefield 😂
The worst enemy of high rollers is their poor memory. Rhi always forgets her new sword damage die and often forgets to add her Rage damage. Tom always forgets to add a d6 to his chaos bolt because he focuses too much on seeing if he activates the chain effect.

I can't do anymore... this may be updated?
Mark, before this started, literally said killing these enemies is NOT what you're here for you must stop the tower light. What do they do? Proceed to fight EVERY creature. on. the. map.
My immediate thought was - Cast Longstrider on Ophelia. Wildshape Gryff into a kitten on her back. Get Ophelia/Gryff to the far side of the tower (Move/Dash) to spiderclimb with cover from Deathgun Dude to get in the top. Use narrative Fate dice events to keep them safe while the rest keep them busy.
Spoilers for the episode follow: - - - - - - Mark: "Defeating the enemies should probably not be your objective here" Also 8 turn time until, potentially, everything goes to shit. Party: Kills all the enemies but the boss with only 2 turns left on the timer. Well, next session is going to be an interesting one lol.
Moonbeam does damage on A turn not their turn. So will do damage on the cast and when it's their turn. More damage Kim! :) Chaos Bolt does 2d8+1d6 damage. So you can do more damage Tom! :) Just FYI.
Moonbeam does damage to a creature when that creature enters the beam for the first time on a turn, or if it starts its turn there; it does nothing *at all* on the turn of the caster casting it, because neither of those conditions are met (it does not deal damage when the beam appears - some spells do, and they say so, moonbeam is not one of them; the beam appearing is not the same as a creature entering the beam). If you cast it over a creature, that creature will take damage when and only when it *starts its own turn there*, not before, unless some other circumstance permits the creature to move outside of its turn, *and* it uses that to move out and then back in (in which case it would satisfy 'entering the beam for the first time on a turn', even though it's not its turn). It's a very commonly misruled spell, because a lot of folks don't feel like it's right to cast a spell on an enemy's position and have it do nothing initially - what ultimately matters is that everyone at the table playing agrees on how they want the spell to work.
Similar thing with Vicious Mockery. It has a secondary effect that gives the target disadvantage on their next attack roll before the end of their next turn. Better in most situations than mind sliver imo
TWINNED SPELL Related to earlier regarding the Sorcerer's Twinned Spell Metamagic which states: When you cast a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self... To be eligible, a spell must be incapable of targeting more than one creature at the spell’s current level.
I know that rules that are being used and all for the the followers but I feel like sirgriold as a champion of the realm what have a magical weapon like he's a big deal
Still waiting for Keyva the Oracle magical cards to be used. Was that just nothing?? Rowan has a strength of 26. Daisy has an ability. When are you guys going to use the ability that Keyva gave
The High Rollers crew needs to do more downtime activities and downtime this campaign! Also, I hope they do some faction mechanics like Mark did in Nights of Eveningstar.
No the players aren't reading their spells e.g. chaos bolt missing the 1d6 damage, trot not knowing that bardic inspiration isn't concentration, rhi rolling a d4 for her rapier because she's used to the whip etc
I feel like arachnophobia has gotten to a point of ridiculous extremes where video games are now adding “spider free” options and even on here the cast is suggesting to not describe a spider because there could be a handful of people frightened by it. I’m fully aware that phobias are not rational but this has gotten out of hand over the last couple years. I feel like I’m just coming across as “old man yells at clouds” but I’m really really not trying to
The only bad thing about this episode is Kim not going into detail about her spider form. Because it might upset some people who have arachnophobia and I have it I didn't mind.
I’m here again to remind everyone that casting order doesn’t matter. Shillelagh is a bonus action, you cannot use your action to cast a spell that uses a spell slot and a bonus action to cast a spell on the same turn. Cantrips are still spells and therefore must still follow the rules of bonus action spell casting.
Sorry dood but: Players Handbook Chapter 10 Page 202 "Casting a Spell" -> "Casting Time" -> "Bonus Action" says "...you can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip..."
*spoiler*
mark: you might want to not focus on clearing everything
the group: *clears everything*
I wonder if that’s going to cost them. 😬
Always how it goes in DnD
'Guys you have this objective, killing everything isn't part of that'
Players: kill everything so it can't mess with our objective, got it
That one demon that constantly targeted xan reminded me of that one Wolfpack crew who constantly stalked Quill
Mark is so good at bringing in interesting combat mechanics. The Fate system and minion mechanics have been super fun to watch
Mark at the beginning of the episode "Killing the demons should not be your priority, the tower is your goal"

God this episode felt like it was 30 minutes. THIS ARC IS SO RAD
This really felt like 30-ish minutes i love these People so much 🎉😊
Don't forget Vicious Mockery imposes disadvantage on the enemies next attack if they fail the save. Also Rowan rocks :)
Did I watch this as a part of the secret VOD? Yes I did, did I still click to view this video and like it? You’re god damn right I did.
Shhhhhh!!!! First rule of secret VOD squad. We don’t talk about secret VOD squad.
never utter those forbidden words no one should know
I love battles like this, where there's a broader objective instead of it just being a slugfest. The turn limit just adds to the tension.
The worst enemy of high rollers is their poor memory. Rhi always forgets her new sword damage die and often forgets to add her Rage damage. Tom always forgets to add a d6 to his chaos bolt because he focuses too much on seeing if he activates the chain effect.
It’s the worst enemy of most DnD parties I think.
31:33 Oh I need to get a gif of Tom's face just lighting up in pure joy at Trott mentioning "Chaos Twinning" :D
What an exceptional fight! The whole episode is just so satisfying to watch with all that action going on! Looking forward to the next one!💥
Mark is living up to the High Rollers namesake this time XD

FOR THE EMPRESS!!!! FOR THE ALGORITHM!!!!!
Clear skies!! I'm up to date!!!
I have been waiting for this to drop all day!
Thank you HR for all the great car rides and hearty laughter.
This may be the most misnamed group in the D&D streaming universe. Mark is the only one who rolls high! 😆
53 minutes in and worried. They are not concentrating their efforts on one goal, especially the Everlight. This is how Ophelia died earlier........
Mark, before this started, literally said killing these enemies is NOT what you're here for you must stop the tower light. What do they do? Proceed to fight EVERY creature. on. the. map.
@@derek2297 These guys have the tactical ability of an angry crab. 🦀
Mark can’t give them fights that are possible to lose or they will find a way.

Cast Longstrider on Ophelia.

Get Ophelia/Gryff to the far side of the tower (Move/Dash) to spiderclimb with cover from Deathgun Dude to get in the top.

Mark. This is the session where you live up to "High Roller" 😂
When the DM gives advice to the players you know the fight is gonna be hard😅
Your maps, combats, world creation, and arcs are the best IMO.
08:01 chris looks so deffeted as mark continues to explain whats happening🤣

What an incredible map!! A++ Mark
Normally I listen to the podcast while driving to and from work. I had to come watch the video just to see this map!!
hail the wagon empire
I wish Tom would remember more often that chaos bolt is 2d8+1d6. READ YOUR SPELLS MAN
Although in their defense this is a difficult fight with a lot of moving parts. Still wish they were concentrating fire on no more than two targets
Making reference to Heroes in 2024? Noice.

Would Daisy have thrown daggers with the crazy Zealot chick there I feel like there was a point made before where she wouldn't do that
Benedicta is the stupid one, also she's too focused on the demons
knowing the context, that thumbnail is menacing
Watching this a month later. Hope they've figured out that the real value of Vicious Mockery is that it gives disadvantage on their next attack.
God, I love Altheya Epispde 26: Faulty Towers!
2:58:42 I like to think the fate die was to add a convient hay bale. The die just said you landed to the right of it...
The HEROES reference threw me. We’re so old.
Excited to see this upcoming episode!
such a good ep
1:30:01 Gotta add "Ife Knife" to the list of Mark-isms :D
Moonbeam does damage on A turn not their turn. So will do damage on the cast and when it's their turn. More damage Kim! :)
Chaos Bolt does 2d8+1d6 damage. So you can do more damage Tom! :)

I am unsure about the moonbeam ruling there. That might be a homebrew way of doing things.
I thought Trott's "Wagonborn" pun @1:52:32 was inspired.

What is create/destroy water? A cantrip or a spell with a spell level?
@@jesse6927 sooooo…?
Counterpoint, many tables allow a bonus action cantrip and an action spell as a house rule.
@@crouchingmarker that’s fine. But that isn’t the default. Mark is pretty close to RAW on spellcasting, and he enforces the rule in other situations.
