Colonel Autism personally, I’m thinking that Jon snapped when his wife died, and tried to build the perfect family (IE a wife (gone), a child (michael), and a pet (dog). Stemming from this, I have 2 theories: 1st, alcoholism and abuse. The alcoholism was used by Jon to cope with the loss of his wife, but clouded and distorted his reality more and more, forgetting Dog was even human. The abuse that likely stemmed from this spread throughout both of his children (as seen at the campfire, there’s no way Dog would know to bark and whimper to appease his father without previous incidents) and ended up mind-breaking Michael into seeing the same way. This is why he’s so gung-ho about showing off the pet he worked on. Upon killing Dog, a flash of humanity and memories flew through him, causing him to, if only for a moment, remember what was true, blinding him with rage, forcing his father into what he made his brother, a Dog. My second theory is the miasma and heat from the trailer and taxidermy saloon drove the family crazy slowly, until it unfolded to my first theory.
I have pink eye and it’s contagious I believe the message is referring to the Father as the “old bitch still kicking”, as he cuts up the father and (presumably) makes him a “dog” just like he had done to his brother
