The song is technically explaining those who fight in the war had chaos around them but in the end only to be brought to heaven with the rest of his family. Truly Amazing
Apparentley the lyrics in this song were wrote on a prison cell wall by a American civil war prisoner to comfort another before his execution, I’m not sure if this story is true but if it is it’s so tragic and wholesome but the song is beautiful also and If someone sang this to me during my final moments it would bring me peace 🙏

We will never fully understand the horrors these brave and good soldiers, all of them on both sides went through. They were people like us thrown to fight and die, and even Odin would cry of rage if he saw those fine men, dyingfor petty causes such as the imperialism that was devouring Europe back then. The only legacy they have is their fame and memory, and we shall never forget their deaths, nor their courage and sacrifice, a good reminder of the fact that the only righteous war is the one you fight withing ourselves in our effort to be a good and kind people.

There are a lot of people keeping ww2 history alive let along with other wars. I am a ww2 re-enactor. We do tacticals and re-enactments of wars in ww2 to honor those who have fought and died for us. Not going to lie, I can get emotional on the field even tho it is fake.
