Short story. 10 years ago i was back around my hometown and had no place to stay, so for a while i moved into my parents old summer house out by the lake. Short winter days with icy crisp waters and rain/snowy sludge falling on the lawn. Friends was staying over all the time and we cleaned a big space in the living room, pushing all the furniture to the walls and laying a big rug on the woodboards. We'd play a bunch of acoustic stuff and listen'd to alot of music and watch live concerts. One night in the concistant fog created we were having a jam break and surfing around just looking for good stuff. We pretty much stumbled over a music clip and played it. A giant soft hand was lowered down for us as it begun and we climbed in for the trip, others who wasnt paying attention were scooped up as it begun. We went away and must have come back sometime after it had ended. With that description i dont have to say we were blown away! I think we must have gone trough that trip many times during that period and it sure was altering. Well well time floats and everything naturally scatteres again. Years pass and i'd be listening, playing music or seing some live concert or got to reminiscing from seing a picture from that time and my memorie would always be feeling like it something in the core of the experience that i couldnt reach. I'd talk to a friend from that time about it and we'd go about music and some videos that we had a deep understanding and touch to and we both realized there was this song that we have heard that we should, but could not, remember. Our memory just couldnt seem to grasp it and pull it back in. I'd pick something out of a tune, a piece of a slide guitar solo in Pink Floyd's - High Hopes and i'd get a glimpse of this song from that time. But the song is lost to me, wtf was that song? i'd go trough clips that i remembered from that period but the melody is just there for a very short instance, a second and it's lost again. But there is a lingering vagueness of something like a guitar collaboration of some sort in the glimpse. And then tonight, in a cabin under a mountain over a fjord, 10 years later with the same kind of wetsnow sludge clinging to the windows and drippin down the woodenfasad i stumble on the memory again. Triggered by this wetsnow and a Warren Haynes string bent in a certain way i get the glimpse! Decide to move quickly to a search spree, goes for Waters and Gilmoure as a duo of some sort but it just isn't there, i see a continuation string with All along the watchtower with Dylan and clicks it. Oh no! its not here! Is it gone? Its slippin away... Wait!? There something about this guitar, it should be acoustic with a basenote? hmm who makes this with a acoustic version sound good? Aah! Dave Matthews does! I go for the Central Park show and watch the fabulous bassist intro in his red hockey shirt. Its all beautiful and magic but as the 13 min song ends i know i have been here before, this i were i use to end up in this search of this lost song. The dead alley! But im feeling crips tonight. This alley must have something to do with it? why have i otherwise walked here? i have been here before and we used to see this show to so it must be here, is this it? was there never a slide guitar? Never a screaming ghost on the strings? down there beyond the frets and the neck just howling away? Offcourse there was. I'm now determined to walk the road. I type and search Dave mattews songs, i look for the glimpse, a string, a note, somewere in the seemingless endless world wide web it sure must exist! Determination.... I click, i scroll i give up and i scroll some more, more! I go trough some good songs, some magical ones and some weary almost pushing me of the path. Im listning to Cortez now, back on Haynes, and hes bending away as im rolling down the suggestions.. and i see it... the letter.. I SEE THE T the T!!! Tim. It's Tim, Tim is the one. This is it, something inside me says this must be it! Who the fuck was Tim!? CRUSH? what is this CRUSH? there something here, in this word CRUSH. I click, i listen and i now see the duo. The melody is there! but there is no magic and no slide? Scrolls, scrolls.... Another version appears, its red foamy light in a long wavy fabric, its a dark and its a leaning Aula with thick air and dimmy lights. Its not big and its not small its just perfect, there's two black t-shirts and the rugged oriental rug with its coffetable between them and i understand that im there, im back in the summer house. I have arrived at the chilly wooden floor, the thick tv, the sofas pushed away to the sides and the clingy heavy wet snow sticking the windos. I turn all the lights of and i lay down in the middle of the floor. I press play and the five first notes strikes and tells me that this sure is the right place.
Dave brings me back to such a peaceful place in time. City kid who moved to the suburbs near Philly with a steady dose of Hip-Hop. My new friends introduced me to DMB and it just blew my mind. I can still picture summer nights with endless beer, beautiful girls and bud being passed around. So much nostalgia, I love it.
Crazy how it feels tonight Crazy how you make it all alright love You crush me with the things you do I do for you anything too Sitting, smoking, feeling high In this moment it feels so right Lovely lady I am at your feet God I want you so badly I wonder this Could tomorrow be So wondrous as you there sleeping Let's go drive 'til morning comes Watch the sunrise To fill our souls up Drink some wine 'til we get drunk It's crazy I'm thinking Just knowing that the world is round Here I'm dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down Is this real or am I dreaming Lovely lady Let me drink you please I won't spill a drop, I promise you Lying under this spell you cast on me Each moment The more I love you Crush me Come on It's crazy I'm thinking Just knowing…
This performance was one of those rare instances where it could never be duplicated in quite the same awesomeness that it was, at this time, on this stage, in front of these people. Damn this chicken is good
and people also think of opinions as a factual implement. everything he said and everything you said, they're all opinions. he used the words "incredible" and "deserves," which are both opinion words. you used the words "you think" and then made an opinion afterwards. I respect your opinion, but never judge someone for their opinions. Dave would hate that.
i lost my brother 12/28/16 in his hospital bed. Dave was his shit. i always liked this song. now i listen to this with tears in my eyes. i wouldn't have it any other way
Best lyrics in this song!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! I still cant seem to get enough of this song though!! it goes right through me and touches my soul but I just want more and more......how is that possible?!?!?!? :p
Having a wee Dave day ... the emotion that he writes in his songs erupts all over his face when he sings ... love watching and listening to this amazingly talented man ... Tim's not bad on the guitar too :)
I can't stop listening to this, and aching for someone to hold and sing this to. It's such a perfect song to embody how much love someone can have for another and all the things they do.
This is my favorite vocal performance from Dave. It's fantastic seriously. You can tell it strains is voice and must suck the next day but your a champ
That is the craziest shit that he said at the end because I was just eating chargrilled chicken and tropical fruit by the ocean here in Thailand while listening to this. He's right. That chicken was damn good with these here jamz!
Can't believe what I'm hearing when I play this video. By far one of the greatest songs ever made. This band is huge in USA and I can't understand why they're pretty unknown in Europe.
Well, Shaqreia, real good music has no 'time'. It's indeed timeless. So Dave can be yours just as much as he belongs to the generation before your own and the one coming up! ;-)
i've seen DMB 4 times at Hershey park and i can say he has never played this song once since i've attended his concerts . Love this song one of my favs but please DMB play it at Hershey,PA. By the way his concerts are absolutely worth the price
Agreed. But you'd have to be pretty special too for your partner to be so inspired that s/he writes a song this incredible for you. She must be something....
Amazing!....They are 2 of the best acoustic guitar players in the world! They do things with guitars that nobody else does....especially Tim... and with Dave's lyrics it's a match made in heaven! They compliment each other so well!...Love it!!!
3:31 till 4:05 :O :O :O MIND = BLOWN !!!! I literally was listening this as background music, then I switched to the video as soon as that guitar solo came :O :O And then when I heard from 5:59 until the song finishes about 7:22 I said this is the guitarist's song :O :O Wowww just amazing!! This is Tim Reynold's song!!
"lyin under this spell you cast on me"....this man's lyrics are freakin killer! i stay awake at nite hearin his tunes play over n over again in my head...."lovely lady, let me drink you clean, won't spill a drop no i promise"....dave matthews you truly have an amazing gift...thank yo ufor sharing it
I've listened since maybe 2009 or 2010. I still remember playing Bubble Tanks when I was like 9 or 10, and listening to this on our old (now gone) Dell. Good days, before having to write essay after essay.
Finally, I found this song! I heard it and asked the person who it was, they said the Dave Matthews Band, but I neglected to ask the name of the song so i've had to hunt it down. I also happened across "When the world ends" which is an outstanding song.
Pocas canciones en vivo superan su versión de estudio, esta es una de ellas, de alguna manera a la versión de estudio le falta algo que esta versión si tiene...y no me refiero a lo que hicieron con las guitarras.
I've always loved Dave matthews band but watching him sing this song drives me crazy!!! he shows such emotions and so sexy. I would do anything to go c him live r meet him.
This song just gives me goosebumps I LOVE IT!!!!!! Is there any guy out there that can talk to me the way Dave talks......thats all I want not too much to ask for right?!?!?! ugh he just melts me!!!!
This is a very common generalization, and a lot of people identify with this as music has a way of synergizing to memories from a different time in your lives. The generation that came before you would make the same observation, but if you search with an open mind you would find that indeed there is great music being created presently and this will always remain true.
I don't get tired of listening this.. anyone feel the same?
Long ago someone gave me this song . I cant stop listening to this. Such a good version btw
Me.... The .most beautiful love song ever.
2023... And yeah, I feel that way
Just fault in love with this song
We're still here. Good music doesn't age.

I've always liked this version way better than the studio, it just has the feeling that real people are making this music.
@Bo Kian nah I trust her
If its DMB it's best experienced live
This is the only version I ever listen to ❤
This is one of the greatest love songs ever written and performed. Passion and raw emotions. Dave is one of the last true poets
For me, he's one of the greatest male singers ...love his voice.
Very calming

The 80s arent the good ol' days, the 90s are
This is my favorite version of any song ever recorded. It's perfect.
This song is for Dave's wife, and he does a wonderful job of playing to express his love for her! Go Dave!
Crazy how it feels tonight
Crazy how you make it all alright love
You crush me with the things you do
I do for you anything too
Sitting, smoking, feeling high
In this moment it feels so right
Lovely lady
I am at your feet
God I want you so badly
I wonder this
Could tomorrow be
So wondrous as you there sleeping
Let's go drive 'til morning comes
Watch the sunrise
To fill our souls up
Drink some wine 'til we get drunk
It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing that the world is round
Here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
Is this real or am I dreaming
Lovely lady
Let me drink you please
I won't spill a drop, I promise you
Lying under this spell you cast on me
Each moment
The more I love you
Crush me
Come on
It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing…
This performance was one of those rare instances where it could never be duplicated in quite the same awesomeness that it was, at this time, on this stage, in front of these people. Damn this chicken is good
This is the best version of this song, much better than the studio one. Such a beautiful poem sang by an amazing voice!
Tim Reynolds is an incredible guitar player. He deserves even more recognition than he gets.
you think thats impressive? People are easy to impress nowadays...
and people also think of opinions as a factual implement. everything he said and everything you said, they're all opinions. he used the words "incredible" and "deserves," which are both opinion words. you used the words "you think" and then made an opinion afterwards. I respect your opinion, but never judge someone for their opinions. Dave would hate that.
Can't wait to see Dave Matthews for the first time in Johannesburg tonight!!!
This song has an incredible tune to it and the solo tim adds makes it one of the great live performances out there.
we need people to listen more stuff like this, no more techno or autotune, just raw acoustic songs and true talent
Sadly the amount of autotune on this album is shocking
this version is so much better than the original one I can't even explain!
..i brividi che sento durante la canzone sono quelli della vita che mi ringrazia..
