I did some work in the mountains of Papua New Guinea. Rained (or snowed!) every day except 6 in three months. At the edge of the mining property there was a pile of hard hats and rubber boots. The locals from the various villages would quit or go home for awhile. They preferred going barefoot over the boots! Hard rocky trails, snow, etc. Amazing people.

This was amazing. I remember watching this episode when it was coming out as a new episode as "new" on discovery channel. Ive seen every single episode numerous times. I learned a lot from you. I dont know if you will ever see or read this. But I've used it in the past to help me. Various techniques and fire starting implements learned from your teaching. Huge and long, long time fan. Always will be. Thanks Mr. Les. Means a lot.

Yeah man, I've seen the original episode a whole bunch of times. I'm watching the director's commentary because I want to hear everything Les has to say. Otherwise I wouldn't be watching a director's.....commentary. Are people really that clueless these days? Preach, Les! Spit that game! Make it a 2 hr show! I'm down!

Epic and very relaxing commentary. Loved all of the ones before this. I was in my early adolescence and teens or so when watching this over and over. Some of the best television out there that there was.

There are guardian angels disguised as people looking out for you everywhere...and there is always the hope that people can and do change, grow, and learn to accept others. Wow. Beautiful story of the elder watching over you.

I've watched a few of these Director's Commentary shows and this one was by far the best. I think maybe because you were on vacation and had had a few drinks and you were just so comfortable in the moment. But I think what I love most about these is seeing you reliving the time you spent there and all you went through. You've got quite a legacy. ~ Cheryl

I spent some time in the amazon some years back. The rain really needs to be experienced to be believed. It rains so hard, you can hear it coming ten, twenty minutes in advance-- That's how loud the roar is, the sound of the deluge smashing into the foliage.

I have been watching the commentaries lately. They are just wonderful. I used to watch your shows back in the day when they first aired and now, I am completely immersed in your commentary simply because you are telling another version of the show. I especially love when you describe how you were feeling during the whole experience. Thank you.

Loving the directors commentarys and seeing you remembering and talking about all the filming and surviving at the same time puts in to perspective the one of a kind show this really is. the beautiful shots and raw nature of the show arepersonal experiences of Les, left for us and himself to enjoy for the years to come. You sir have left a legacy something I hope to one day achieve.

I never got to watch your show growing up! So...it's new to me and I've been binge watching for the past 6hrs! I am really glad you've put these up for all of us to either re-enjoy or enjoy for the first time. I wish there were more shows like this. I love your narration and lack of fluff. Just good logic and to the point. And...if I may add.... you have aged so handsomely. Like a fine wine 😁

I really liked the original intros with the maps! It always “set the stage” for me and made me feel like I was “in the know”. Oh - well. Still loved the show but missed that context.
