@@dogwater290 the Norway episode was my favorite for that. Watching Les lose his cool as he hiked down the mountain in the snow. It was so fascinating for a psychology nerd like me. You could hear the fear in his voice because he had allowed himself to get wet (you sweat, you die!) and the sun was setting as he faced the possibility of getting ledged.
Darkness. Laying on a thin sheet touching the ocean water. All that is below with its vastness of deep black. Rotting at the brain at the fears underneath you. So many times you've shown us this in many forms. I've never forgotten each moment and use them to this day. I never put myself in any situation that could make me feel the true human fear of our minds and the true reality you were in.

Survivorman theme song...brilliant, and oddly comforting. Watching you Les, plays a huge role in the my earliest days of recovery from a heroin addiction. You kept the insanity of my incredibly chemically imbalanced brain at ease enough so to get through those earliest days.

Howdy Les, Rick Groat here, you don't know me but I wanted to just say how much I enjoy your films, and being an independent film maker myself I really appreciate your devotion to the art and your knowledge and expertise on both filming and wilderness survival, and you being the first to do it all is an amazing accomplishment. There are many who copy you but never reach your level of honesty and artistic excellence. I've learned a great deal from your films both in survival and film making. I have been making films since 1970, with my family owned Groat Family Productions, mostly western, won a few awards, and also an actor in western movies, and my live wild west show, Groat Family Wild West from 1964 with 5,550 live shows and actor in 70 films and tv and ongoing. Not bragging, only saying I've got a long history in film and the arts of films, photography, and acting, and when I see great presentations I can really appreciate it. I'm planning another film, and so I was inspired to say keep doing what you do, it's great. Rick Groat, GFP, GFWWS.

Loving these directors commentaries Les been watching you since I was 6 or 7 on discovery channel. Lost at sea is also one of my favorite episodes. Your shows helped me through some serious rough times.
I remember meeting you at your book signing way back when in Clifton, NJ and I asked you if you would ever attempt this one again since you didnt finish and you said def not! Excited to watch this!

I totally understand all the shark stuff. Growing up watching discovery channel and TLC in the 90s and 2000s, Shark Week was almost a hysteria. It got people to watch. It totally makes sense to mention the dangers of sharks, especially in the first season... at that point you were just getting into the culture of the network. I do appreciate your respectful words about sharks at the beginning. We have all grown to see them as a part of nature and not man eaters. i think Steve Irwin taught us a lot about that. Do you have any memories of Steve that you would like to share? edit: I especially enjoyed the credits and getting to know the people behind the camera
So glad you did this show. It's one of my favorite episodes! I used to put my babies to sleep to your shows. Youre voice is so calming! They're teens now and as soon as they here that opening song they know exactly what show it is. Thanks for doing all that you have done!!

Lol much love Les you 100% are the reason I fell in love with the outdoors in the first place I just know next to nothing about recording or editing but you are legit the god father of self recording and don’t get even 10% the credit you deserve. Everything today from bushcraft to fishing videos and everything in between owes you a shit ton maybe a metric shit ton whatever’s more lol.
Les I'm sure you'll probably never see this, but in the off chance you do, I just want to thank you for uploading your work so that we can enjoy it! I've been going through a rough patch, and your channel has dug up some of my most fondest memories of my adolescents. And suddenly the world doesn't seem so grey anymore. Again.... Thank you very much!
I just discovered this playlist and I love it!
I think this was the first episode I ever saw back in the day, cool to see some commentary on it.
Les....I learned a great deal from your show...small things, and things that I've used. My son and I used to watch your show together all the time when he was young. Many thanks for your integrity, and showmanship.
Thank you for doing this Mr. Stoud. My old body is taking a long time to recover from a couple of injuries and I enjoy living through your adventures while I heal.
One of my favourite episodes.
Had a deep feeling of dread the first time i ever saw this.
Takes serious balls to take on the ocean alone.
You can drift for YEARS if you’re unlucky.
Im really enjoying watching all these episodes again for what seems to be the 100th time but this time I watch along with you! Keep it up Les!
I love rewatching these, they help me sleep since i find them calming and i enjoy the commentary. Always so grateful you put these out
Loving these directors commentaries Les been watching you since I was 6 or 7 on discovery channel. Lost at sea is also one of my favorite episodes. Your shows helped me through some serious rough times.
💛☀️
I remember meeting you at your book signing way back when in Clifton, NJ and I asked you if you would ever attempt this one again since you didnt finish and you said def not! Excited to watch this!
I'm so glad you're still talking about survivorman. I've missed this show so much.
Instead of patron's of the arts, now we have crowdfunding....A far harder(unsustainable) way to hone your craft, having to appease hundreds of people, rather than 1 true believer. Thanks for putting that important sentiment out there Les.
These director’s commentaries are some of my favorite things to watch, love the sit down and have a drink with survivor man vibe too
You played with Jonny Lang? Wow! I'm a sucker for Blues music. Check out Billy Price, great blues musician from my home town. Actually got up on stage with him when I was 5 and did his frozen in time bit. Still remember that day 20 years later! Come down to Pittsburgh and play a show Les, I'll be there!
I really enjoy these director commentaries. Thanks Les!
Another entertaining/informative Survivorman video! Yesssss!
I needed this. Survivor man Is one of my go to shows that takes away my anxiety. I watch it when I'm feeling anxious and it comforts me. I've watched them all at least 20 times. I fall asleep to it a lot of nights.
Thanks!
Just letting you know that my time since leaving the military after a decade. Have been made easier to since reconnecting with the Survivorman series. These commentaries refreshed my inner survivor. Its a skill that built my inner willingness to live on through the traumatic experiences . Sadly not many other veterans are so fortunate. So thank you for the memories and education you gave me.
I always knew bear grills was a fake lol. There’s no one better then Survivorman it was my favorite show. It’s awesome to be able to watch them all again thanks Les !!
Love the commentaries Les! Getting all the info of behind the scenes and recollection on what you would do differently is very cool.
Always a wonderful thing to keep up with you, Les. I really enjoy getting to rewatch episodes that I really liked with you. Your sharing the details, successes, fails, and the filling in of the picture is so generous. Thank you for this, its that feeling of getting to see for the first time all over again, only this time its a much more enriching experience. 🙃😉
when my pops was still around, Survivorman was our absolute favorite show to watch. He played the harmonica and loved the scenes of you blowing in the wind out there alone in the wilderness. Fun memories
Used to watch you together with my dad when i was a lil boy. Now i watch you as a grown man and appreciate your content even more.
This was one of my favorite episodes of Survivorman and one of the scariest episodes too.
This was amazing. I just recently started watching all the old episodes from the start. This is now how I want to watch all the episodes.
These director's commentaries are Christmas. Absolute, positive Christmas.
Everyone take the time to go through and thumbs up all of les’s videos! lets support him all we can
You should be proud of the intro theme. People pay millions for a catchy piece. You banged it out in the basement 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
my wife and I are currently watching your limited edition 20th anniversary collection! I've been watching you since I was a kid and now my wife is hooked and LOVES IT! Loves you too btw. shhh lol thank you survivorman for everything! :D
Yes! Thank you les! I own and have watched these dvds so many times. It's so nice to get a director's commentary for them.
So glad you did this show. It's one of my favorite episodes! I used to put my babies to sleep to your shows. Youre voice is so calming! They're teens now and as soon as they here that opening song they know exactly what show it is. Thanks for doing all that you have done!!
We have missed you Les, You have to de-stress like the rest of us..Always best to hear your running Directors commentary..Live chat hard to follow when listening to your points of view and you multi task..I will have to watch again, missed the first 45 mins, cleaning my car..Thanks as always in who supports you in your efforts to produce your great channel...I have started to read your survival book but as yet not with the great Wild at Hsrvest Dvd I brought, been to busy..Keep your talents strong 😁 I can see how obsessed some of your fans get towards you ..I would pray wholeheartedly in solitude as you have your thoughts, space ..Take care Sir Stroud 📿📽🕯
Pretty cool that you made the theme song yourself. It's super unique and very fitting for the show, you did a great job.
The fact that you take the time to break down these episodes in your own free time really shows how you care about us fans. Truly an admirable person you are Les.
What a great way to relive this show... straight from the directors mouth.
Love these director's commentaries
Couldn't wait to watch the commentary on this one because it's my absolute favorite one. It didn't disappoint. Watched the original episode with my dad. He loved it too. Keep up the great work Les. I'll be checking out your harvest episodes soon. 🤘
I'm loving all of these Les and I've watched every one you have released! I know you are working through them, but I cannot wait for more! Screw the dumb people that get upset when you comment in a commentary - it's literally available for free on the channel; the small annoyances a creator must deal with...
I enjoyed this being 90+ min so don't have any worries about giving too may side stories, I'm here for it!
Thank you for doing all these commentaries and for putting all of this content on TH-cam for us!! Obviously you're killing it because by the views and subscribers, your channel is really picking up steam!
