I'm a man of few words, I respect Scientist since 80s I started listening to Dub. Tubby & Scientist are the reggae rhythm pioneers.

This man is very important to the evolution of reggae music. Not only is he important to dub but people seem to forget he mixed major hits from the late 70s onwards for Barrington Levi, Linval Thompson, Johnny Osbourne and many others. I have to admit that I still love the old Scientist dubs that were mixed at King Tubbys more than the nowadays modern dubs.

Ever since GTA3, I have never had such a sound penetrate my heart as his music. On the Mummy's Curse when it say's "The difference between... I and you" it manifests my hopes and dreams with sonic force, yet, his words ring pragmatically true like any other master: do the work, be yourself, know your history.

@elon Green with all due respect. Nothing great about this interview. I understand he is the best in what he does, but the man is arrogant. Children came out of the woodwork …saying he is their daddy. If you never go there …they couldn’t call your name..rap it up. He spoke little about the music it self.. calling people monkey is not cool.

OMG he’s such an Aries! He’s all “Don’t come at me with all that fake Rastafari stuff.”
Digital might be great for recording but music is sold now, generally, with far fewer bits or bytes of music to playback, and hear, than vinyl. If everyday music was sold with the amount of information that vinyl has, that Tidal has, it would be different.
Wow, he’s totally right about the early 80’s Junjo Lawes records. They have Scientist all over them. They sound exactly like all the best Scientist. Dub Landing Vol. 2 Scientist vs. Jammy is my favorite dub album. Interesting to hear his view on Jammy.

Scientist had impeccable judgement as a mixer/engineer knowing when to mix a little and when to mix a lot and what aspect of the vocal to enhance via echo and what aspects to enhance with simple reverb is exquisite. I feel I am naive in wishing that the companies that made a lot of money out of his work despite the fact that he did not actually produce the music could have given him some credit both acedemically and financially and resolved the whole thing resolved in a "peaceful way" according to the ethos of the music that were produced during the time period. Nice to think about peace and unity, but it is a hard thing to put in place in the real world. Ironic that selling the humble music to big business that had no love or musical interest for what you were talking about in the music at the time (or since for that matter) have managed to put a wedge between certain people that were all working together in direct opposition to big business ethos should let this happen. And to put the music out on a "electronic game for the enjoyment of who" is still unknown to me.
