  • Some up close shots here of 69005 running around at Redhill whilst working 6Z27 Tonbridge West Yard GBRf to Newhaven Day Aggs on 7th October.
    The loco overun the platform at the north end so i couldn't get a shot of it being detached however we see it running down the adjacent platform before heading back into the station to re-attach with the opposite side of it's load.
    See also a pair of class 73's operating a Tonbridge West yard RHTT circuit and passing freight 66540 on 6M50 headed to Wembley.
    Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching

    I love the original looking class 73s I call them bagpipes lol 😆 due to all the pipes on the front of the cabs! Good video 🥰

    Strange livery seeing a 70s grid in a 60s br green livery but it looks pretty good! I like it!!!

    Saw the Eastleigh today, was not looking her best, dragging track cleaning gear with 690001 mayflower on the back.

      The 2 different coloured windscreen surrounds don’t look great on 005 - Hopefully they paint the replacement to match the original soon. 🤞

    It's bloody weird seeing a 56 and hearing a 66 lol.

    I found out this one was built in Romania; thought all the Romanian ones had been scrapped. A distinguishing feature of the Romanian locos is the cab side windows with a separate quarter light. The internals seem more noticeable and see through than on the 56s as well.

    I dunno why, but these sound better than a shed, Perhaps the silencing is much less on the rebuild. Idle speed sounds more like a 67 which again have always had a better tune than the 66s. Strange really.

    I’ve never seen that manoeuvre before at Redhill, the 73s yes, but not a run round by anything, presumably GBRf Tonbridge then on to Crawley or another yard further south? Nice capture 👍🙂

    Similar conversion done before with the class 47 to the class 57.

      bet they stole the idea from that conversion.

    I heard the class 66 sheds design plans got erased deleted its not like anyone was going to steal there designs lol 😆

    So the class 69 is to the 56 like the class 66 is to the class 59?

    I thought they were supposed to use AAR couplers?

      no, but in the future pipeline--- the DAC coupler.

  • @matthew0605

    I thought the livery choice was obvious people, it's based on 33008 Eastleigh . Remember that loco . Scrapped now like most of the cromptons. Even with the side stripe which was fitted to the 33s from new . All it needed was the old British Railways round logo . -bud the painter-

    • @brianbunn3604
      @brianbunn3604 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily based on 33008, there are other 33’s still running in original green liveries, stripes, old style BR logos, arrows and numbers e.g. D6515 at Swanage Railway, D6566, D6575 at West Somerset Railway

    • @matthew0605
      @matthew0605 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sorry everyone I missed the old BR roundel style logo first time around . My dodgy minces to blame.

    • @JamesCleevely
      @JamesCleevely ปีที่แล้ว

      33008 is still around, and still in BR green. It is currently preserved at the Battlefield Railway

      @JamesCleevely Thank you James for enlightening me, I'm so glad that it's still around, I thought that it had been scrapped. Have yourself a great evening.

      Never got this reaction to the EMD repowered 47s; probably because UK railfans prefer the English Electric growl to the Sulzer splutter... In USA it's been EMDs ever since steam finished!

    Not good timing at point of coupling up
