Spectacular battle in the category up to 74 kg at the IPF world championships between three athletes from Sweden, New Zealand and USA. #IPF #POWERLIFTING #WORLDS
3 very high level athetes here, but the judging is taking away from them and they're max potential. Say what you want, Atwood's thirds squat was fine. The third deadlift was boderline, but Monigatti's third attempt was much more evident in my opionon but they overturned that one. I understand that IPF wants to mantain the face of the most prestigious tested organization and it needs strict judging, but: 1) being too strict over dumb shit ruins the competition and takes away from the athletes and 2) be strict, ok, but also be consistent
Say what you want about the the judging but Johansson deserved to win. Taylor is 34yrs old, has been competing for a decade and made 2 errors more than 22yr old Calle.
He should have pulled less. There was a bit of ego there. It was unnecessary to go for a WR attempt. He would have get 317,5, he would probably had enough to secure his win. I think he was robbed on the squat. Not sure about the DL but he still made a bad decision going for 323 IMHO
@@bertrandronge9019 i mean u can clearly tell he had the strength to pull the 323 tho, a slight deviation in technique was all it took for the lockout to be just off
@@thomasmcconville9199 it's Taylor Atwood, if there is a slight deviation on the technique it's most likely that he started to get some muscles tired or that it was way too close to his max strength of the day. From a strategy point of view, I maintain it might have been wiser to go for 317,5 or 320 and not try to get the WR. He might have still not won maybe Johansson could have done 333. We will never know. Anyway if the judges would have been less strict, he might have won and beat the WR. And kept it because the others might have go even higher and not been able to lift it, then I would be here praising him for the boss move 🤷♂️ So I know easy to talk afterwards 😉
I think Taylor locked out that last one, the part in question is whether it was resting on his leg at all while he made that last adjustment waiting for the down command.
Johanasson bench doesn't follow the IPF rules, and both of them do the same error in dl (if three champions make the same mistake in closing it means that sumo deadlift style is not good, too much on the heels in closing)
some times they sand bag if they have a more important comp on the near horizon, I don't know if any of that happened here, but Taylor has had meets before where he had to hold back a bit because he had another meet to do a few weeks later.
camera distortion and perspective is a thing. we do not have the full picture the judges and jury have. it was clearly to depth from the perspective we got on stream, which was also the side that got a white light.
@@peterbadurek4386 Camera distortion and perspective is literally not a thing. The jury watch back the videos that are taken so this argument is literally nonsensical.
@@Qwrtyuiop the jury watch from multiple and more perspectives than we get, so it is impossible for us to judge the situation. And perspectives/sides from which you see the lift makes a ton of difference.
@@CodBrandt Ya. I was fine with Taylor's 3rd DL being red lighted but be consistent judges. Don't give Tim the deadlift if you ain't giving it to Taylor. It felt like the refs had it out for Taylor a bit. Maybe I'm just reading into things but just with his first squat it was a rocky adventure.
None of the comments talks about the incredible performance of Johansson ! That young guy ran that

Watching this live was absolutely insane
Why it was insane? Was it because long duration or the good fight between athlete?
@@amarmaarof7853 LMAO
Where can I watch the competition s live ?
Thank you for posting this
Shame the judging ruined johanssons victory
He may have pulled the extra 7kg anyway
Squat call is all anyones talking about
Calle is like Emil Norling copy and pasted into the 74s. The guy will never find his true max deadlift.
Great squat depth kiwi boy, clinical 🤙🏽

Calle!💜🥇👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Scary to see that 10 time bw total now only puts you in top 8 whereas it used to guarantee championship :C
Atwood simply got robbed twice, yet he came in at 3rd place only 0,5kg behind on his total from the first 2
No, his squat and deadlift aren’t valid. I do think the last deadlift of Tim shouldn’t have been overturned, wasn’t valid neither

lmao robbed my ass
I hope someone called the police and reported this robbery.

HELT. OTROLIGT.
That jury is very strange especially with overturning 3rd Monigatti deadlift that was not locked.
Karma for protesting Gavin’s lift at Sheffield 😂
Kinda puts Anatoly in perspective
That’s brutal losing by .5kg. That third squat should have counted
Atwood will smoke these dudes next comp
3rd squat call on Atwood looked correct to me. It didnt look like it hit depth
1:22 man that knee going forward is so painful to watch thought this guy about to collapse
Guess you only have to lift one side of a deadlift
They forgot to add the deadlift section in the video lol
👍👍👍
Incredible athletes right here, everyone deserved the prize but Atwood was robbed, sorry.
Atwood should’ve definitely retained his title
Dmitry, any relation to the 1976 Olympic Silver Medalist in the Hammer Throw, Aleksey Spiridonov? Just curious. Thanks.
No. Just the same last name. There are many Spiridonovs in Russia and other former USSR republics. Btw, Aleksey was born in 1951 as my father did. :)

These seem sub par after seeing Perks at this year's Worlds
Judging kinda sus feel bad for Atwood
why is everyone lifting less at worlds this sport is everything but clean☠
Lifters are weaker at worlds, most people can lift more at “home” then away! There are a lot of factors
that doesn't even make sense taylor lifted more than he did at sheffield
some times they sand bag if they have a more important comp on the near horizon, I don't know if any of that happened here, but Taylor has had meets before where he had to hold back a bit because he had another meet to do a few weeks later.
Because making lifts on the platform is different than training, and lifting at the bigger competitions is different than local meets.
Why is Taylor's squat down 74 pounds from his best 2 years ago, and deadlift 67 pounds from his best 2 years ago?
Age and injuries
Imo, Tim's 3rd deadlift should be no lift
2:23
Omg

He did, its his third squat he didnt get.

Some very questionable judging there

The knees caving inwards.... how is that a good clean lift?
Knees caving in is under the rules

Sumo is cheating - Cbum 😅
Attwood was robbed hard through squat and deads
Taylor should have won
Taylor got robbed on his last squat and deadlift and very nearly his first squat as well. So sus.
Taylor got robbed
👎👎
Shame about the sumo deadlifts.

Taylor must of got too friendly with one of the judges wives cause they had it in for him today omg

Atwood didn't lock out his last, Monigatti and Johansson had some downward movement on their last.
Yeah, unfair that Tim got it overturned
Not even backward. The right side of the barbell was lower than the left side. I never saw a rep like this being called guilty.
Downward movement is judged by the center of the bar moving
Carls downward motion is allowed in the rules tho. If you make downward motion due to locking out shoulders its white lights
Atwoods looked locked out to me, it just took awhile.
Taylor squatted 303kg in the 2021 competition. How come hes pushing much less now?
injuries
He dropped down a full weight class. His DOTS is 563 now, went up 30 points from last comp and up 16 points from that 2021 meet at 83 kg.
i love how he says cari and not carl with an L
