    Fun Fact: Bruce hand picked Chuck for this role. When told the film makers wanted a westerner for the villain Bruce recommended Chuck because he had seen him fight before and knew they could work well together.

    I would suggest a Mads Mikkelsen movie, Craig, so you can finally hear his voice. I've been interested in his movie, A Royal Affair, for a little while. It's a historical drama about King Christian VII of Denmark. I like history, I'm nerd that way. It's not in English, but that doesn't seem to bother you guys. And also, this show is the best!

    I was one of the ones that told you to watch Akira subbed. Aren't you glad I did? Also, I've been to restaurants that have 5 types of soup; but my advice to you, having worked at a couple of restaurants back in the day: Never order soup at a restaurant. Soup of the day; but from what day? Most of it is not made fresh anyways, it usually comes in bags, that you put in a soup pot that is then kept on all day. You might as well just buy canned soup, and eat that, it's usually better becaus they prep that shit in the morning, and by the time it's lunch time it's a flip of the coin whether it's burnt or not, and there's a good chance that it's the leftover soup from the day before, in which case it is certainly burnt. Also, if the place has any kind of cabbage salad, don't order the cole slaw, because what that is, is this: (manager to the prep cook:) "The cabbage salad is looking a bit brown. Put some mayo and sugar on it, you know the deal." If you enjoy these items, I highly recommend you make them at home. There are a few exceptions to the the rule; but at most restaurants, that's the score. Also, never eat shark fin soup, because those that do are monsters, and deserve to be hated and reviled.

    The Niagara Falls postcard reminds me of a recent fun fact I've learned from my parents. Koreans jokingly refer to Niagara Falls as the Fountain of Youth because of its Korean translation. "Nai ga ra" or "나이가라" translates to "aging begone". Anyways, great episode guys! Watch a Korean movie soon; maybe The Man from Nowhere? or The Good, The Bad, The Weird (a Korean western set in 1930s Manchuria - if that alone isn't enough to get you to watch this, I don't know what else to say)

  • @redorthros

    Finally I finished every episode of this show, and I was going to see the movie you guys were picking today before watching and it's the only movie I've seen actually seen from this show! So that was convenient
    Also about the trivia, the dub I saw for this movie had the soup scene, Tang Lung just kept repeating "eggs" to the waitress, which was still weird, and another reason why I prefer subs to dubs

    • @GoodmansGhost

    You guys don't often talk about family movies and I'm wondering if you've seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks. It's the one of the few post Disney pre Eisner films that can stand toe to toe with any of the Disney classics with two great leads and music by the Sherman brothers. Also as it involves battling the Nazis with the supernatural I like to think it and Indiana Jones share the same universe.

    I watched this in preparation for this show! Enter the Dragon is one of my favorite movies so I was expecting to like Way and it was great! The Netflix version is dubbed but that adds sort of a campy charm to it. The very strange plot points (a gang of English speaking whites and blacks in an Italian city extorting a Chinese restaurant) add to that. Bruce Lee is incredibly charming, even though I wasn't hearing his voice. It's not as good as Enter the Dragon, but it's still a great film.

    Bruce Lee is a better actor than people give him credit for. He does a lot of great work facialy. Every expression he makes is iconic somehow. Not just his shouting and his intense stare but even his smile is great.
    Hes not as good an actor as Jackie Chan and honestly Jackie has more interesting fight scenes but Bruce has an undeniable presence.

    Have you ever seen John Woo's The Killer? Its an ofthen overlooked 80s action film.

    • @daclyde
      @daclyde 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trevor Gautereaux This was the film a friend used to introduce me to the Hong Kong action scene of which I was, as yet, completely ignorant. I was just out of high school and I'd grown up in a fairly movie-strict Southern Baptist family, so I'd rarely ever seen even an R-rated movie at that point, so the action and sheer bloodshed surprised me. Needless to say the next 4-5 years were a solid diet of Chow-Yun Fat, John Woo, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and "Leon the Professional". Hollywood gun battles and fight scenes have disappointed me ever since.

    • @trevorgautereaux
      @trevorgautereaux 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      daclyde Thats awesome! One of my former high school teachers actually introduced me to the works of John Woo. He was resigning and decided to give away the dvd collection he had in his classroom. I had no idea what they were about but I trusted his judgment and the rest is history and I've loved Hong Kong action ever since.

      To be honest, my intro to Heroic Bloodshed was Full Contact with Chow Yun Fat. It’s basically a Hong Kong action movie take on Richard Stark’s novel “The Hunter”. But it’s cool to see Chow play a vengeful anti-hero thats leans more towards a villain.

    10:09 I think Lee's hand movements were copied in Kung Fu Hustle (2004) by the old landlady (Qiu Yuen). lol. It was the scene in the car when she was warning the Axe Gang member to stay away.
    From IMDB - In 1974 at the age of 24 Qiu Yuen had a small role in her (at the time) one and only international production, in the James Bond film, "The Man with the Golden Gun" (1974). She portrayed a student who rescues Roger Moore.
    There was a nice Bruce Lee exhibition last year (2014) in Hong Kong Airport.

      i had something like three galons of different soup for the rest of the week, i just hope we wont have that much of entries as we did two years ago (the contest takes place every two year) and i hope wont be a judge this time.

    Speaking of kung fu, have you ever seen Flash Point with Donnie Yen? In my opinion, it has the best fight scene of any film in history.

    And you just ignored the Shaw Bros and the 36th Chamber? The story of a young protagonist sacrificing for vengeance is quintessential Kung-fu cinema. PS Star Wars

    A bit of hindsight, but I think we can all accept that the *only* reason to watch RotD is the Lee/Norris fight, so I was disappointed that you didn't mention the (urban myth?) legend that the fight got out of hand and was real OR that it has become one of the most highly rated fight scenes in cinema history. Interesting fact: So many kids were seriously hurt in the UK trying to imitate Bruce Lee's nunchuck skills in front of their bedroom mirror that the government banned the sale of nunchucks and their use in advertisements in Britain! ....I'm off to find five soups.

    Has Matt (or Craig for that matter) seen Human Centipede yet? Just watched the Mystery Mansion B&BG episode where it was brought up.... Maybe a Halloween episode?? Just a thought.

    Looks like Chuck Norris' beard moved to his chest for this flick... : ) P.S. My favorite character actors include Vincent Schiavelli (a.k.a.the subway ghost in "Ghost") and Steven Tobolowski (best known as Needlenose Ned Ryerson in "Groundhog Day").

    Have you guys seen the recent horror film "Unfriended"? It's a ghost horror that limits all of the action to a single screenshot of a computer screen. Personally I think it's a worthy addition to the genre of low-budget horror.
