Im just getting back into modelling after a thirty year break so this was really helpful, I had sort of forgotten a lot of stuff but it came back to me as i watched your excellent video, thank you.
Why? Before attempting anything new, one can always experiment by starting to apply some spare decals on spare parts you tested your paint on, until you like the results. Until you are certain what to expect from your kit and gear used I would always reccomend running some authentic as possible trail pieces beside your project:)
@@taxidermypolarbear1724 you should be able to find places online that sell decals for your model. They might not be the exact same quality but should be real similar
Great video! Thanks :-)) One short question: can I use Microset and Microsol if I paint my model with water-soluble acrylic paint I buy from Michaels (an art store in the US). This paint is the cheapest variety you can find for artwork, but it makes wonders for electric RC airplanes. Thanks a bunch.
Amazing explanation thank you! I'm about to apply decals to Gundam model kits and this explanation is the best so far even among gunpla tutorial videos
This is great. I bought an old 90s SONY Walkman but the SONY logo is coming off. I don't know if you can buy white SONY logo decals or if it is possible to make them but looks like this is the method to use
Great video!! Could you specify the decal paper used and method of printing? I seem to never get bright solid colors, only translucent, weak colors. Its a white backed paper and the decals are cutoffs? Thanks a lot!
Can you please do a kit that has some real decals ...not a basic kits...I am doing a tornado ecr tigermeet that it totally covered in decals and single basic colour paintwork ....this kit is freaking me out ! Applying large decals to small surface areas its a real test on decal fitting and I am struggling ...
@@theTutenstien I found that this process has worked the best. Apply acrlic paint, then apply a layer of acrylic gloss varnish, let dry for 24 hrs, apply decals with decal set solution, then apply a second layer of gloss varnish on top of the decals. The last layer of varnish does not have to be gloss though, it can be satin or flat.
@@droidgeneralgrievous911 I can understand why you gloss coat before decalling. But why do use gloss coat after applying decals and not go straight for the final matt finish?
Will it look like crap if you just apply the gloss finish to select areas of the model where decals are to be applied? And then go over the whole model with a dull coat finish?
It’s pronounced Dee Cal not deck ull it’s not even spelled to sound like that. I’ve heard NZ, Australians and Brits pronounce it like that and it kills me. The English language in my old age is really pissing me off. I live in South west USA, Arizona. A lot of our cities and street names are Spanish and the spelling and pronunciation just kills me.
MosCOW and ROWte are just 2 pronunciations that really piss me off :( The way Americans say them is just so wrong , but hey if we were all the same be a bloody boring world !!!

In Oklahoma, USA we say it like… dee-kaal ……LOLOLOL great tutorial. Thumbs up.

Excellent tutorial

Glad you think so!

You should call it the "Deckle gundam" as an homage.

Hi Bobby. Do you use the same brush to put on the Set and Sol n if so do you clean the brush in water after using the Set n before you use the sol??
I just use the same paint brush mate and had no problems

try ou the enterprise E build that has some hard decals to do
do you have any advice for putting your own images on decal paper to put on models? is there a website perhaps ?
Is this Eduard P40 ?
Hi there, What camera do you use for making this video? Nice close up!
My decals keep disintegrating. They stick to my cotton swab and fall apart. They don’t adhere
Why put gloss on is it a matt finish
You apply a gloss coat so that the decal sticks to the surface easier
@@droidgeneralgrievous911 do you need different layer of coat after first one and done decallinf?

D cal not deck l.
U b saying "decal" funny mate!
it is de-cal-ing not dec-al-ing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Decal is pronounced as if it’s written ‘Deecal’. Great sequence otherwise.
In your country, yes. Not where he lives. lol

Shut up. Accents are different, as long as you can understand words it's fine.

i have to agree that every time he said d-CAL i received a shiver up my spine
