Used microset/sol method for the first time using your technique. Revell P47 with Tamiya paint finish. Tamiya gloss clear as the prep - all airbrushed. Really well pleased with the result, went exactly as described in the vid. Only needed a single application of sol to get a good painted on look.
Thanks Bobby. You really put together a professional guide from top to bottom! And your pleasant and no fuss personality makes it easy to watch and enjoy.
I've just a couple of weeks ago found your site, and what a gold mine of information. Thanks for your efforts to make the vids; they have been a tremendous help to me already. I'll be watching a lot!
thank you Bobby for this great video very informative and helpful for someone like me who has recently returned to modelling already have the Mr Hobby but will now get the micro sol as you suggested many thanks and had subscribed to your channel. 👍😎
Great video sir! I only wish videos such as this had existed back when I was making models as a kid back in the 80's! FYI, Makeup sponges are also great for lightly pressing decals down and soaking up any access water/solution.
Hi, little tip for your Swan Morton blades, if you just use the tip! Run the back of the blade tip across a oil/wet stone that way you get a nice fresh cutting edge. TFS, G :)
Great tutorial. I watch this (and your other one) every time I start decalling to remind myself how to do it properly. Current having issues with getting Kora decals to sink into the rivet holes on my 1/48 Éduard 109. Tried Set/Sol and the deadly Ammo Mig stuff. Any thoughts? Was thinking of pricking them all with a pin, but that’s a last resort. Thanks.
Best decaling video I've seen. What do you do if you come back later and an edge of your decal has lifted up. (maybe from going around a tight curve) Will one of those solutions glue it back down or do you need something else. Is it easy to soak away too much of the decals adhesive? Would love to see a video on decaling problems/solutions.
first off, excellent tutorial. gave me enough confidence to actually try these solutions. second, micro set just beads up immediately and doesn’t spread like your video demonstrates. Is there some dilution needed? Also, the micro sol doesn’t wrinkle the decal either. I’ve taken all steps necessary to prep for these solutions with cleaning to clear coats, etc. what could I be doing wrong?
Great tutorial, I've modelled for a year or so and still have issues with decals all the time. The finish on your airplane there looks great. Satin finish? I was wondering what specific varnish you like to use before starting decals. --Thanks
Hi Bobby, if I use Windsor and Newton Acrylic Gloss coat before and after decal, is it strong enough for Mirco Set/Sol? How about Mr Softner or Tamiya Mark Strong? Thanks!
What do u use to wipe the excess decal solution off the paimt work as i noticed u carnt evan see any smudges or any marks were its been does it actually dry like that or does it make a mess if not cleaned up properly decal solution looks great it makes the decal look thinner and make it looks like its stook on the paintwork
its like being told what to do by a teacher. from what to do to why you do it that way. brilliant.
Excellent tutorial best I’ve seen clear and informative very well presented , thanks from a returning modeller after 40 odd years
Glad it helped

Seriously. I should just put on “great British baking show” to have that mellow and pleasant British accent going on while I decal. So much more calm

Some great close ups of the process. Keep up the great work.

Excellent, I’m always too impatient when applying decals, thanks for explaining the process I should follow 👍
No problem 👍

Nice tip will try that next time
Excellent presentation. Very helpful.
Very helpful video on the process, clear and simple. Thanks! I'm always nervous at this stage of the model and this was awesome to watch.
You're very welcome!
You can get cheap USB powered cup warmers that can keep your water warm for longer decal sessions.

Great vid mate. I heard U can use watered down vinegar as decal set. Cheers Graham
me too by not tried it
I've found that sometimes the brand of decals makes them hard to move around, even with microscale.

@@genessismodels Ahh I've thought about trying that product. I'll give it go--Thanks!
Great video, as always! Cheers.
Thanks again!
excellent video mate!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Bobby, if I use Windsor and Newton Acrylic Gloss coat before and after decal, is it strong enough for Mirco Set/Sol? How about Mr Softner or Tamiya Mark Strong? Thanks!
Nice video. Do you use same brush for Micro Set and Micro Sol?
Yes I've had no problems from using the same brush mate

Thank you so much, really useful
Glad to hear that!
After applying mr hobby softer my decals are wrinkled, do i keep applying the softer ? Not sure what im doing wrong. How do i fix wrinkled decals
Can i use tamiya pannel line direct to model paint with acrylic tamiya and then wash it with x20a thinner?? Is it save or not, thanks
Just one question.
Have the panel lines had a pin wash, or is that to follow and it’s pre shading?
Very clear on the decaying, thanks
you can find pin wash in my step by steps but there will be at tutorial on pin wash in the future
@@genessismodels Sorry I wasn’t clear do yo decal then pin wash panel lines or do pin wash then decal?
I pin wash after doing the decals mate
@@genessismodels Thanks for getting back👍
Would these techniques apply to rc cars as well?
It should
Dr. Dekyll and Mr. Hyde
How can I remove mr softer dried residue on gloss lacquer prior to gloss coating
what about gloss - decals- matt varnish ? or do i need that extra gloss before matt ?
For some reason I only got Micro Sol and not Micro Set, do yall think it could still be manageable? Thanks for the great video!
Yes you can!
@@genessismodels So just replace it with a little water?
Ye that should be fine. But still best to use set
@@genessismodels Gotcha, I'll have to try water I guess, thanks for the fast help!
Deckel ?
What's a dek-cal?
enjoyable video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Molto interessante
Great vid dude thanks. 😀😀😀
Any time!
Do you not have issues with the Microsoft making the Pledge go foggy?
How long after you apply the pledge are you using microsol?
I've noticed that it does happen occasionally but be patient and it'll go away.
'th' is not "f" (thing, not fing)
Over use of the word "nice".
Canadians say decal, Americans say decal. 🍅🍅
Microsol you mean white vinegar and distilled water mixed. rip off.
Eduard's new decals are horrible
