Dan, great, informative video! Thanks for providing us "newbies" with your knowledge and talent on Model Railroading. Please keep those weathering videos coming. Really look forward to watching and learning how to weather rolling stock!!!
Dan, I've worked on models for years when I was younger. I used to love building aircraft carriers and jets. I've never attempted to do anything to my HO collection. So, that being said bud... yeah, anybody really can decal but.. bro.. you are VERY, VERY good at it. Don't cut yourself short man. It IS a talent. It's an ART. And you have the talent to do it and do it extremely well. I'm very impressed with your work and am enjoying your videos. Keep it up and again, great talent man. You're truly blessed! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your hobby and talents with us!
Nice video, when I do lettering, numbers etc I actually use my calipers to measure. I will use a starting point, like the bottom of the cab and just measure to the top of all the numbers. It gets them really level.
I'm working on converting a lot of my locos for example my big boy 4012 I'm repainting as 4014 and repainting my 2 tone grey 8444 into a straight black 844
something I would recommend is that when moving around the decal I suggest you use a fine brush or a more dull blade in order to eliminate the factor of tearing and or cutting the decal.
Hi thanks Though more than locos I am keen on learning how to: -change boxcar's numbers and -place decals on the ends boxcars . And what to use in order to keep the boxcar steady in place while with both hands I can manipulate decals processing.
I have tried it before but wasn't to happy with the results. My tool of preference is by hand, because you have more control and it looks better. I do use an airbrush for painting, and sometimes clear coat applications. ~Dan
Awesome how to video. I learn a lot from this video and realize it's a lot easier then thought. My question is how did you get the white backing on the number boards in the front?
Very clear, thorough tutorial. Thank you! (And I just picked up a few random cars to practice painting, decals, weathering, etc.)

Will you finish your runaway train GP40-2?
Soon, I am looking for a GP40-2 right now, plus some detail parts, I will update it if I get started soon. ~Dan
Cool
The locomotive looks like HO scale.
Number is to high
Too low
