Vic; I always learn something that enhances my safety (and my RV7); keep' em coming!

Thanks for the update guys! Really driving home the point of proper maintenance and having someone else take a look at your work. Currently building an RV-14 and already thinking about how often I should have a shop like yours do the annual, etc.

Really like the channel. Great info even for this old Stinson owner. Look forward to seeing more.

My motto is "perfection or not at all". You just showed me how difficult it can be to pursue my motto. The stakes couldn't be any greater than where your life is on the line.

As a new RV7A owner. I greatly appreciate your teaching. So far I find it hard to locate proper torque value for my 0-360.
The engine manuals and supplement are written to confuse the innocent.
I wish there was a easier way to find the correct procedure for tightening a bolt !

Use AC 43-13 for torque values. Most prop manufacturer’s put a sticker on the prop with the torque values.

Great information Vic! Appreciate you sharing your expertise! Question. Your referencing prop overhauls... my RV has been flying 10 years, (603 hours), as of 1st of this month. Do I need to take the prop, (Fixed pitch Sensenich), to a prop shop or inspect it like I do at each condition inspection?

No. The fixed pitch metal props do not require overhauls. However, they should regularly be checked for nicks and gouges. There are specs for how deep they can be and if they can be filed. Always have an A&P do the filing if it is necessary. Then consider balancing the prop.
